‘Real News:’ VP Debate Postgame
Since it became official nearly two months ago that Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan would be Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s running mate, intense media speculation has built up for what we would see in debate between the young conservative pallbearer and the veteran, yet often lambasted Democratic Vice President Joe Biden. Thursday night finally came, and while the back-and-forth was fiery, most commentators have ruled that the debate was a draw.
In Ryan’s first nationally televised debate he held his own on foreign policy and pushed the vice president to present some ideas why a second term under this administration would be any better than the first. Biden was aggressive all night, interrupting Ryan 82 times in 90 minutes and landing progressive talking points on the 47 percent secret video and Grover Norquist.
While the liberal base was fired-up about Biden in comparison to the performance from President Barack Obama last week, was old Joe’s constant interrupting and smirking attractive to undecideds?
On ‘Real News’ Friday the panel discussed the debate takeaways and which responses don’t pass the fact checker:
