Seemingly Drunk Secret Service Agent Arrested in Miami Hours After Obama Visit

Miami police on Friday arrested a Secret Service agent who they said was passed out drunk on the sidewalk and fought with an officer just hours after President Barack Obama left town.

According to WFOR-TV, an officer was responding to an unrelated call when he discovered Aaron Francis Engler around 7 a.m. Friday morning. WPLG-TV reported the officer asked Engler if he was OK but received no response. When he did answer, Engler said he was fine but would not get off the ground. As the officer was patting him down, Engler allegedly became combative, arguing and throwing his arms around:

When the officer tried to handcuff Engler, Engler hit him in the face and tensed his arms so he couldn’t be handcuffed, according to the [police] report. The officer stated he had to force Engler to the ground, where Engler hit him again in the face, before he could successfully handcuff him.

WFOR reported the officer discovered Engler’s Secret Service identification in pocket once he was cuffed. His eyes were reportedly bloodshot, his speech slurred and he smelled of alcohol.

Sources told the station Engler said he was from Washington, D.C. and had been part of Obama’s advance team for his visit to Miami. Once Obama left, Engler said he went out drinking and got drunk. He was supposed to leave Miami on another assignment Friday morning. He was not armed at the time of his arrest.

Engler was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence — both misdemeanors — and released. He was turned over to the Secret Service field office and was being taken back to Washington, the station reported.

The Secret Service was rocked by a prostitution scandal earlier this year with agents protecting the president during a trip to Colombia.

Regular Americans do this,have a little fun.But I thought we paid the S.S. to do it better? President Obama’s Security Team!This is not what he deserves and we demand better!

On second thought,the SS may be planting this man as a ‘fall guy’. Just to take away from the recent and MAJOR SS failings!

The Secret Service will get our respect when they EARN IT BACK.

Engler was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence — both misdemeanors — and released. So there are 2 sets of rules for us. If I punched a cop twice in the face, I doubt I would slapped on the wrist with a misdemeanor and released immediately. Wow, thats blatant!!
