Saturday Night Live’s take on the vice presidential debate featured a boisterous, interrupting Joe Biden, a vague, water drinking Paul Ryan, and a tough moderator in Martha Raddatz, who warned both candidates she was not PBS’ Jim Lehrer and not to walk all over her.
Things got started with Ryan, played by Taran Killam, hitting President Barack Obama on unemployment and the debt. Immediately, Jason Sudeikis’ Joe Biden began interrupting and guffawing, slapping the table for emphasis as he laughed.
“Oh God, Martha I’m sorry, but with all due respect this is a bunch of malarkey,” Biden said.
“A bunch of malarkey?” Raddatz, played by cast member Kate McKinnon, asked. “What does that mean?”
“It’s Irish,” Ryan supplied.
“Irish is I come smack that dumb look off your face,” Biden tough-talked.
Later in the sketch, Ryan — sipping almost continuously from his water glass — was asked to provide specifics about his ticket’s economic plan. Unable to do so beyond “close loopholes, bring down tax rates and erase the deficit,” he was still happy to repeat it with hand gestures.
Moving on to the abortion question — which Raddatz prefaced by noting that baseball playoffs are underway — Ryan told the story of seeing first seeing his daughter on the sonogram and nicknaming her “Bean.”
Biden’s answer had to do with his Catholic faith.
“Now when it comes to church, I may not go every Sunday,” he said. “But on Christmas Eve, I am front-row center singing ‘Joy to the World’ as loudly and off-key as I can. I accept the teachings of the Catholic Church, but then I ignore them and do whatever I want. Now I feel kinda guilty about that — but yeah, whatever.”

Oct. 14, 2012 at 12:56pmI used to love the Silly Night Liars skits (but didn’t watch the rest of the show), but now that ObaMedia has taken over all but the toilet seats in our homes, there’s no point in even turning on the television set. But I always appreciate that the Blaze always tells me what to know about that horrible boring waste of airplay that must be getting political funding like big bird- is what I am saying and it should be cancelled too just like big bird was. Thankudos to Blaze, I say.

Oct. 14, 2012 at 11:09amLame… and from a troupe that could do so much with the material this administration is handing out.
i fail to understand how comedians above all actors and similar to journalists fail to grasp that simple truth that if they willfully ignore the gaffs and ‘openings’ provided by this administration and completely ignore the goals and intent, they are supporting a slide into a nation wherein the government can choose who will not be heard, what cannot be spoken or printed, and can levy arbitrary inequal punishments upon media in order to control the message being provided to the sheep.
it won’t work… it didn’t even before the age of the internet and social media, but the very practice of communism/ socialism decreases a nation’s productivity and creativity, and fails to eliminate the status/ class system it espouses to address… only instead of entrepreneurs and capitalists having the greater share of money and offering the opportunity for any to attain that, it’s those in power in the government with the influence, insider information, and control over who does what and who gets what, guaranteeing they get what is left as the ‘best’ of everything and their serfs share too little.

In fact, you just plain efen lied. I watched the video you posted, and the coclusion I drew was that the skit barely brushed over Joe Biden’s character, while concentrating almost exclusively on Ryan’s; sort of like SNL’s way of misinterpreting the debate to put forth a difrent outcome…

Oct. 14, 2012 at 10:42amI watched the opening show last night on TV just to see how they’d portray the debate. I was pretty much sure they were going to spoof the Biden/Ryan debate which I also watched. I was right. The opening skit was about the debate. I knew that Biden the jackass would be easy to parody but about the only thing I noticed during the debate that I thought SNL could make fun of would be that false looking smile that Ryan had that I’m sure he was coached to do. Other than that, I didn’t see anything else Ryan did. But the lefty l i b t a r d s resorted to their old tactics and made Ryan look stupid. Although they did make Biden look like a fool, they also made him look like a guy who will kick **** while Ryan looked stupid. I hate these people because they DO affect the opinions of the mass stupid people who unfortunately have the right to vote. As soon as I saw the biased skit, I went back to my computer to watch Blaze TV and my wife changed the channel. That was about all I could take of mainstream TV. I don’t watch any shows on TV with the exception of maybe occasionally catching a show of NCIS. I can’t watch ANY of the reality shows or sitcoms. I’m really thinking about not letting my kids watch Nickelodeon or Disney. They’ve become stupid brain dead music channels. The sitcoms are so stupid I ask my daughter why she even wants to watch them. Nickelodeon had fat ass Michell Obozo on it. Yeah I need to block those channels like I do with MTV and PG/R channels.

Oct. 14, 2012 at 11:04amIF only Biden had been so good instead of the jackass he was. Good try boys/girls of SNL- no cigar!
That actor who played BIDEN would have made a much better Veep I think. He’s not much of an actor as he didn’t get the crazy stare, the ticks and the hysterical head moves right and all of that before we get to what Biden said!
Clearly a not-so-subtle attack on Soon-to-be Vice President Ryan- I only saw Ryan drink water once and on the “plan” it’s really important to note that the DEMS are waiting ready to pounce on any loop hole they would mention..the point is that when ROMNEY is PRESIDENT in a few months, he will sit with DEMS and together they will come up with a workable loop hole closure plan – something that should have been done 20 years ago. THE SENATE should get some of our attention. With Harry Reid blocking ALL legislation the result has been to transfer more and more power to the executive branch…nice little deal he and Obama have, eh? Anywhere we can, we need to help GOP SENATE candidates – any of whom would be better than keeping REID in control. Maybe we can get a budget then, maybe we can cut way back on the crony payoffs. But back to SNL… an attempt to make Biden look like a man instead of the crazed nutzoid he is in real life.

Oct. 14, 2012 at 10:30amWho watches this anymore?
It’s like watching a long, slow, painful death-
no-talent writers, no-talent comedians, no-talent talent.
Somebody pull the plug.
Even with this sketch, they had an opportunity to be clever & creative
& as with everything else,
the only thing they created was a big, fat, comedic DUD !
The bloggers on The Blaze have a better sense of snapback humor
than any one over at SNL.
Looking for an easy & lazy way out-
every time they hit the skids,
they bring back the annoyin’ Tina Fey
to do her mischaracterization of Sarah Palin-
boorishly bad…their creative well is dry, dry, dry.
NObody’s laughing because NObody’s watching !
If you really appreciate true talent
& want to laugh your sweet azz off-
YOU TUBE: Stevie Riks
or google his website.
This British darling does impersonations of all the great musicians,
from Bowie to the Bee Gees to Bing
& sings with his own voice.
His impersonations of the Beatles is amazing-
he does more than one or all of them in one sketch-
he has every voice inflection & movement down
with creative writing to boot….INCREDIBLY talented & FUNNY !
He is unbelievable !
Riks is a throwback to the old entertainers
who wore more than one creative hat & kept churning away at their craft
to make people laugh.
He has been around for awhile,
but he SHOULD be one of the biggest names around.
Stevie Riks makes the current “talent” on SNL look & smell like curdled milk.

Oct. 14, 2012 at 10:01amSNL is so not funny anymore they lost it many many years ago or I’m just getting to old.
They had a chance to capture both Biden and Ryan in a funny way. Ryan did drink too often. It gives the appearance of being nervous.
I thought the water bottle was funny.
However they did a poor job capturing how much of a buffoon and total immature azz that Biden was.
I guess we should be glad that less than half (at best) of the SNL audience actually vote.
Sorry SNL but your just another late night show with little talent.

Oct. 14, 2012 at 10:17amMaybe SNL should have focused on the fact that Joe Biden needed water….. Paul is an athlete and as an athlete you sip water continuously to keep hydrated. The whole debate was an SNL skit, Joe Biden should be ashamed. I’m sure his family was wondering what the hell was wrong with him.
He reminded me of a petulant child that needed a time out.

Oct. 14, 2012 at 10:18amSorry, but I’m not impressed with anything SNL does.
It’s necessary to endure the entire show to catch one or two incidents or zingers that are truly funny, and putting up with so much that isn’t funny isn’t worthwhile.
NBC does comedy as poorly as it does news………and it uses the forum as a vehicle to interject far left ideology….from time to time…. under the guise of entertainment.
These cultural Marxist geeks are so obsessed with politics they have to include a bias in everything they say and do.
Entertainment to them is not entertainment unless it is based in some kind of perverted desire to condition the viewing audience with their kooky views.
As the empire continues its deterioration, their time is drawing to an end.
