Yet Another CEO Asks Employees to Vote Romney for Sake of the Company (And Their Jobs)

ASG CEO Arthur Allen Asks Employees to Vote for Mitt Romney, MSNBCs Chris Hayes Weighs In

Arthur Allen (Photo: ASG Software Solutions)

MSNBC’s Chris Hayes reported Sunday that Arthur Allen, the founder, president, and CEO of ASG Software Solutions, recently emailed his employees asking them to vote for Mitt Romney for the sake of the company– and their jobs.  The subject line for the September 30 email was, “Will the US Presidential election directly impact your future jobs at ASG? Please read below.”

Just last week, founder and CEO of Westgate Resorts David Siegel made a similar move, telling employees he’d have “no choice” but to reduce the size of the company if Obama wins.

Allen’s letter read, according to MSNBC:

We have a chance, as individuals, to help turn the sick US economy into a healthy economy, and positively influence the global economy as well. This chance comes on November 6th, when we elect a new President and administration. The US and the world need to elect individuals who have business experience. Neither the world nor the US can stand to elect politicians any longer. In my view, and in the view of most business leaders, if you give politicians 100 questions, they will give you back 100 wrong answers simply because they have no basis for making those decisions. Would you hire a person with no experience to do brain surgery? Of course not, but that’s what the US voters did in 2009. Why does the world keep hiring politicians to run our global economies when they have no experience? It just makes no sense, and yet the world keeps doing it over and over again. Let’s take the lead on November 6th and show the world how it should and can be done. [Emphasis added]

The CEO then explained what the re-election of President Obama would mean for the company– and the jobs of everyone who works there:

Many of you have been with ASG for over 5, 10, 15, and even 20 years. As you know, together, we have been able to keep ASG an independent company while still growing our revenues and customers. But I can tell you, if the US re-elects President Obama, our chances of staying independent are slim to none. I am already heavily involved in considering options that make our independence go away, and with that all of our lives would change forever. I believe that a new President and administration would give US citizens and the world the renewed confidence and optimism we all need to get the global economies started again, and give ASG a chance to stay independent. If we fail as a nation to make the right choice on November 6th, and we lose our independence as a company, I don’t want to hear any complaints regarding the fallout that will most likely come. Remember, in the world of business, companies are consolidators or they get consolidated; so far ASG has been a consolidator, completing over 60 acquisitions in our 26 year history. When we buy a company, we eliminate about 60 percent of the salaries of the employees of that company. If we lose our independence and get consolidated, the same thing would happen to ASG’s employees.

I am asking you to give us one more chance to stay independent by voting in a new President and administration on November 6th. Even then, we still might not be able to remain independent, but it will at least give us a chance. If we don’t, that chance goes away.  [Emphasis added]

He concluded with an apology for the “blunt” email, but said those who know him will recognize how “serious” the situation is based on his decision.

But is it inappropriate for a boss to even write such an email?

MSNBC’s Chris Hayes said the email feels “fundamentally coercive,” but another panelist said people have the right to say what they think will happen if President Obama is re-elected.

Hayes interjected to say the difference is that the boss has the ability to actually fire people and make those things happen, but was again challenged.

“What do you propose to do about that?  Do you want to ban him from selling his company if the president gets re-elected?”

Hayes admitted that the email is constitutionally protected free speech, even if it feels “fundamentally coercive.”

He explained the company’s situation, and the probable result to it if faced with four more years with Obama as POTUS. It was a thoughtful warning as to what could well happen. He will have no way of determining how his individual employees voted in November, so his e-mail cannot be deemed a threat (as opposed to the standard union tactic), but as a “heads-up.”

This owner was leveling with his employees but they probably already know it. SO WHAT??

The most corrupt Attorney General of my lifetime-Eric Holder-will likely come after this employer. If not, a close corrupt competitor Hilda Solis who should already be in jail for all her illegalities at the Bureau of Labor Statistics will, unless both of their other criminal activities against employers and all Americans are priorities that keep them from dealing with this one. What could blunt that would be thousands of employers doing this all at once, so that these two Redistributionists/Marxists are two busy with too many of their anti-American activities, so that they just can’t handle this.

Yes, it was absolutely Ok for him to write this e-mail. As far as I am concerned this mail shows that he is a boss that actually cares about his employee’s and wants them to know what is going on with the company. He didn’t threaten, nor is informing people of the possible consequences of their actions coercive. He was explaining what “might” happen or what is most likely to happen.

If that meanshe has to lay people off to stay solvent then so be it. He has the common decency to inform them of the conseqences of their actions.
Wait I get it you want him to not be able to do what has to be done. You want the government to be incharge of his company like government motors.

The Unions and the CEO’s have a right to say what they want. I don’t believe most of what either one says. Both are trying to grab more money. But I have yet to see a Union member forced to vote a certain way. When the curtain closes on a voting booth, I only see one adult pulling the levers. No ONE is with them with a gun to their head. Have you seen someone physically forced to vote differently than they wanted to? At the end of the day, your vote is your vote. Unless you tell others how you voted, no one knows.

All this would cost them is about $100 to $125 bucks a month. Just like buying insurance. Under a Socialist government all companies are owned by the state.

When the current administration piles on draconian regulations, companies will have no choice but to reduce their workforce or sell the company to a competitor that will gut it and fire every one. If companies and their investors can not make a profit, there will be no companies and no jobs. Where will the unions invest all their money then?

The interesting part of this story is not that an employer would recommend to his workers to vote in a manner that he thinks is in the best interest of the company. What is interesting is that this is a story worth reporting.

Unions TAKE money from workers then give those worker’s money to parties and candidates on a too regular basis. They then tell those same workers, whose money they have TAKEN, how to vote.

This employer is not taking money from his workers. He is not threatening their jobs, unlike the union approach, where workers must allow money to be TAKEN or they cannot work. This employer is simply sharing his opinion on what he thinks is the best choice for his workers.

America is becoming a scary place when someone who is intelligent enough to manage assets, navigate the government bureaucracy, and run a company in a successful manner is not able to advise his workers. After all, who will get blamed if the company does shut down? The first person blamed is the guy making the big decisions.

Romney has a history of being successful at business. Obama has a history of picking losers. I think any sane business student (or Vegas odds-maker) would pick Romney over Obama.

It’s a variation of the WARN ACT. Federal law says you have to give written notice to employee’s 60 days in advance of a layoff. These CEO’s are telling their employees that there are economic consequences if they vote for Obama. Nothing wrong with that. If you vote for Obama there is a good chance that you will lose your job. Most of Obama supporters are idiots anyway. Like the Obamaphone lady.

Of Course, I just started a NEW business and didn’t hire anyone this time. Me, Myself, and I… until Obama is gone. Spot on — trick is — doing it LAWFULLY as opposed to legally — see — as an AGENT, no ‘property’ is held ‘in allodial,’ which means da poo, although produced, packaged, sold and transported to ‘market’ — ‘might’ infringe on the Corporate US’s ‘Commerce Clause.’ — Hail Far – a ‘democratic majority’ of States Attys General SUED to prevent ObamaCare, and LOST — because “penalty means tax, so it’s ok” — we get it. Intellectual Property, however is an IDEA that belongs to the natural born native – THAT is still ‘contractable’ under Hale v Henkel 201 U.S. 43 @89 (1906) — “for peanuts,” if that’s how the ‘consideration, offer and acceptance’ are worded ;-) Keep the faith! — Americans are WINNING…. we just need to ACT like the free human beings we are.

I don’t think Allen was threatening anyone! It’s about time CEOs such as Allen let their people know the gravity and reality of this election. Freedom has an enemy and that enemy is our own government. I just came from watching the movie Atlus Shrugged II and it was like watching the last 4 years of our “beloved” president’s slimy takeover of our country. The Liberals in this country better raise their heads and look at the impending catastrophe and quite thinking so much about “what is the Country going to do for me?”

The CEO of a company has the right to express his opinion to his employees! That doesn’t mean that all the employees will vote the way he suggests but he is very serious about what he writes.

My grandson woks for a major home construction and improvement company. He was working 40 hours per week until 2 weeks ago and was considerds a full time employee. 2 weeks ago, he and most of the other workers were told that they could only work 29 hours per week and were now considered part time employees. With a wife and 2 children, that hurts!!! Can you guess why? I bet you know!!

If you don’t understand business or have never had to for go your paycheck to meet payroll you have no idea. Obama was elected by the clueless Sheeple. Obama has never held a real job nor have any of the idiots he has surrounded himself with. They have no idea how to create jobs… it’s nothing but the baaaaaaaaa’s from the Sheeple that have no clue. They just follow the other sheep because they have never had to think for themselves. Romney has made millions as a Sheepherder and that is what this country needs… if not it will be poverty for all. So it IS true that the Man and the Dog are working together to herd the sheep — See, I KNEW it wasn’t no ‘corn-spiracy theory!’ ;-) — wonder how many Americans are aware that the SECOND Organic Acts of 1871/74 are facsimiles of the Republic’s Constitution, passed off as if it IS the Republic’s? — I questioned ‘with boldness’ the same thing when GeeDubya sed the ‘Constitution’s JUST a G*D piece of paper,” and found that he was CORRECT – *Their* Corporate Constitution IS just a ‘*g-d piece of paper.’ The Republic’s IS NOT.
