Krauthammer on Libya Cover-Up: Obama Adminstration Thought Media Wouldn’t ‘Look Into It’

Appearing on Fox News Channel’s “Special Report” on Monday, syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer said the Obama administration thought it could cover up its security failures in Benghazi because officials didn’t expect the U.S. media to investigate the White House’s story.

Following up on a point made by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Krauthammer said the reason the White House tried to cover up the details of the Libya attack is because it did not match the false narrative about how successful Obama’s foreign policy has been.

“It contradicted their story: bin Laden dead, GM alive, and all that spiking of the football in Charlotte,” he said. “But there was another factor here. How could they have thought they would get away with it? They already knew by Sunday, in other words when Susan Rice went on the air, they knew right away it was a terror attack and they had real-time following of the events in Benghazi, real-time access to what was happening on the night it happened at the State Department in Washington. So they knew there was no riot, there wasn’t a mob, there wasn’t a demonstration.”

“Why did they think they could get away with that?” Krauthammer asked again, this time setting his sights on the media.

“They thought that the media would not work on it. And look at the way [the media] handled it. They went after Romney’s statement on Cairo for three days — ambassador killed for the first time in 30 years and that was the whole media analysis for three days.”

Krauthammer went on to say that the Obama administration thought the they could “ride this out” until after the election.

Yep, there was a cover up and that is what bothers me, the raid happened, we can address the causes of that, but the cover up was done as part of this administration and it was done for POLITICAL REASONS, that is what makes me the maddest, and of course the media and the democratic talking heads are trying to jumble the issue with all the budget cuts etc. Let’s talk about the cover up and nothing else, at least for now.

At least when Nixon broke into the Watergate hotel, to steal papers from the Democrats, no one died. And he got impeached for it. I think the whole administration should be tried for treason. And I STILL want to know what Ambassador Stevens knew about Obama that got him sacrificed.

According to military analyst Col. David Hunt, intelligence groups in the White House situation room, the State Department, the CIA, European and African Command Centers and others would have been listening and watching this attack in REAL TIME. He estimates over 100 people listened and watched.

They allowed six hours to elapse and did nothing to help our people in Benghazi.

Please listen to this report in its entirety and then call your Senators and Representatives and demand answers as to why our government stood by and did nothing while at least four of our countrymen, including a US AMBASSADOR where brutally tortured and murdered.

But a US Marine is ordered to stand there, effectively disarmed, while savages raid the embassy and start murdering people he’s sworn to defend.

I find that analysis hard to fathom, since putting an open homosexual, without personal security forces, in the middle of an area that tortures people with such personal beliefs, suggests that this administration would think no one would suggest that they provoked this attack, so they could then order a retaliatory strike in order to gain public support for an other wise dismal political performance over the last four years?

Or is this simply a case of preventable tragedy from a severe case of negligence, spending more time on election campaigns instead of focusing on important duties of the executive branch? You don’t have security “professionals” working in the State Department, with this kind of tragedy occurring, without either suggesting a severe case of negligence of not learning anything from the Jimmy Carter administration, or worse, that they actually wanted the attack to occur?

No, they didn’t do it for retaliation. They did it because Stevens knew something. Maybe he was about to “out” Obama, maybe he just knew about Obama’s lifestyle, maybe he knew something else, but he was sacrificed. There is no other explanation. If they wanted to use it as an excuse for retaliation, there would not have been a cover up. They would have pounced on it immediately. Obama would have come out with a statement immediately, instead of letting Romney come out with his first. Romney came out with a condemning statement BECAUSE the President didn’t. Romney forced the issue, but not for political gain, for the reason that it was an attack on American soil.

      “The Waking Giant” explains;

Now deceased Ambassador Stevens was a marxist schill, working at the command of hillary and obama to help overthrow the governments in the middle east and install their muslim brotherhood-al queda terrorist pals over there. I do not mourn his death ONE BIT. Let the islamics slit the throats of each and every one of the marxists as soon as they’re finished using them to further their jihad. And yes, that includes anyone supporting obama. Let the islamics slit their throats. Ambassador Stevens was raped, tortured and slaughtered by the very islamic terrorists HE WAS HELPING. Just goes to show that muslims have no allegiance to ANYONE but their allah. The obama/clinton regime are aiding and abetting those islamic terrorist beasts, committing treason on a daily basis. Whatever happened to our treason laws? The ONLY deaths I mourn after this terrorist attack are the SEAL’s who were tasked with protecting those evil beasts. They were simply “following orders”, and look where it got them. Throw the marxists, socialists, communists, liberals, progressives and the rest of the schills for this horrid regime to their islamic pals and see how long they keep their snouts and hooves intact. The world would be a better place, indeed.

The murderers and islamic terrorists are less to be feared than the treasonists and traitors. At least with islam and jihad, we KNOW exactly where they stand and just how far they’ll go to serve their mess

The policies of, and obvious lack of protection afforded to our people made the odds of an attack such as this, put into the category of, “highly probable”! I think they actually believed they could get away with blaming this on that stupid video, and that we would buy into it. Well, we didn’t! Charles is right, as usual. Most in the MSM will never look into this, as covering for the boy-king is priorty-one, but some in the media are waking up from the four-year-long nap. They started looking into it and two plus to didn’t equal three like Owebama said it did. Congress needs to quickly subpoena Clinton, Rice, and Owebama, even though he will ignore it. Get to the truth, that the requests for security and the warnings of an attack were ignored. The blood of four innocent people are on these people’s hands. Two of them are already murderers, in which the murders were either never looked in to sufficiently, or were dismissed politically. The question remains, what was the motive? Did Stevens know too much?
I am wondering if they will even let the subject come up in the debates they have left? Bet not.

“Why did they think they could get away with that?”

Because they are, at the base level, conceited and arrogant.

It is my contention, with considerable evidence to support it (that we are all aware of), that the Obama administration attempted to use this tragedy to assist in limiting freedom of speech as it pertains to Islam. As Mr Emanuel callously remarked “Never let a crisis go to waste”.

Further, I think that people generally are unaware of the extent that Mr Obama supports Islamists over his own people and troops. This debacle threatens to shine a spotlight on that, so that is another reason to try and cover it up.

I think that, like the Watergate affair, there will be knowledgeable Americans who can no longer stomach this appalling business and the truth will steadily leak out.

    I certainly hope so, anyway.

Not only for the limiting of free speech in this nation, and to advance protection of Islam, the Islamist agenda and such as Obama clearly favors; there has to be more going on. Watergate is kindling in comparison to this fiasco and the subsequent coverup.

Hillary’s taking of the blame is a cop-out to try and save the god-king of theirs, Obama, from blame and responsibility.

When I look at this from the Islamist view, the 9/11 assaults and protests are a message to Obama; a challenge and a test, which he failed across the board. In addition, I wonder if they demanded not only the Blind Shiek, but the rest of the Gitmo detainees as well, and when Obama hesitated, they struck hard.

Look at it from the fanatics of Islam viewpoint (the extremists) and then determine ends, ways, and means. What is their ultimate goal or aims? How ot achieve them and with what resources?

The fact is both she and bho were out touting the video and riots causing these killings. And then the liar-in-chief doubled down and took his lies to the UN and touted this crap some more. And, remember how bho, on his own, without Congressional approval served up our military resources to assist the overthrow of Qaddafi!. If “fast and furious” or the murder of 4 Americans is not enough to prosecute this evil thug, we are already living under a dictatorship. Suddenly the father of Ambassador Stevens appears in the media fray condemning what he calls the politicizing of his son’s tragic murder. This father has suffered a devastating loss. but shutting down appropriate inquiry shields the very people that are responsible for the lack of adequate security that caused his son’s death. It certainly works to the administration’s advantage to paint legitimate questions addressing the sheer incompetence and subsequent lies and coverup as a partisan attack led by Republicans and in particular Romney.

As much as the Obama administration would like for attention about the Libyan debacle to fade away, it IS a political issue. In spite of Hillary taking responsibility, the buck ultimately stops in the Oval Office, and Obama skipping the daily intelligence briefings reflects badly on his performance as POTUS. Nixon was forced from office for attempting to cover up a second rate burglary (of which he had no prior knowledge) in order to protect guilty members of his staff. Obama is guilty of attempting to cover up the pervasive incompetence of his administration that resulted in four deaths.

The mainstream media are indoctrinated liberal shills. They grill and persecute any and all who might challenge the narrative of this administration and democrats in general. Meanwhile, they lob softballs at democrats when they are in the “hot seat” and lap up whatever lies they are told by the left without any follow-up whatsoever.

You are naive or dishonest in your critique of Krauthammer’s assessment. Let’s for a moment consider that the Ryan budget does have 200-300 million in cuts.

First, that is a weird number as budgets usually have a real number not a span of 100 million.

But as I said, Let’s take it as a real number. As with any budget in Washington, is that 200-300 million in real cuts, or 200-300 million of cuts from the scheduled rate of increase of the budget? The former would be a real cut. The later would still be a budget increase just at a slower rate.

Also, this supposed cut: Over how many years? 10? That would be nothing
