Video Captures NYPD Officers Viciously Beating Man Inside Jewish Center

Ehud Halevi Beaten by NYPD Officers at Jewish ALIYA Center in Brooklyn Neighborhood Crown Heights

An unarmed Jewish man staying at the ALIYA Center in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn was beaten by NYPD officers early last week, though video of the event is just coming to light now.

The ALIYA Center is a synagogue and outreach center for troubled youth, according to CrownHeights.info. The man, who has been identified as Ehud Halevi, had reportedly been staying there for roughly a month without any problems. Though it was later confirmed that he had full permission to be there, a security guard was apparently shocked to find a shirtless man– who he suspected was drunk– sleeping in the center.

After he called the police and saw the beating, however, he said he regretted his decision to involve the authorities.

“I regret making the call. I should have let him sleep. It spiraled out of control,” he remarked.

Skip to around 1:00 to see the shocking altercation, below (content warning):

The footage, captured by security cameras, shows two police officers approach the shirtless Halevi, who is in a couch. According to CrownHeights.info, the young Jewish man was startled at being awoken by police, and objected to being told to leave. When he said he was allowed to be there and the officers still tried to arrest him, Halevi can be seen moving his arms away from the officers’ reach, stepping back as they move to apprehend him.

That’s when the male officer gets aggressive, literally assuming a boxing stance. He punches the young man repeatedly, pushing him across the room and onto another couch. He then punches him at least a dozen more times– if not more– as Halevi throws his hands in front of his face.

The second officer, a woman, also rushes in. However, she doesn’t appear to try to restrain her partner– on the contrary, she eventually joins in and whacks the man over and over with her baton. According to CrownHeights.info, she also used her pepper spray at some point.

At around 4:00 a horde of other police officers rush in, and Halevi is escorted from the room with his hands behind his back. A number of other officers remain and appear to comb the area. They remove a cushion from the couch, possibly looking for drugs, and leave without putting it back.

After the beating, Halevi was charged for assaulting a police officer, trespassing, resisting arrest, and harassment.

Sara Feiglin, the wife of the rabbi who runs the youth center, confirmed the account given by CrownHeights.info for the New York Daily News, but police have not yet issued a statement.

This pretty much defines the training of the NYPD. He’s lucky they didn’t pull their guns ala Empire State Building and shoot everyone in sight.

dont fell bad…. this kid just made himself 300k on behalf of those 3 officers that were beating him…. that is a gross misuse of force… the man had the right to be where he was, and the officers did not care to find that out… how can a COP TAKE A PERSON INTO CUSTODY WITH NO PROOF OF WRONG DOING… YOUR CUFFED CUASE SOME ONE CALLED THE POLICE?… what has the world come to??? so when this goes to court, the officers are going to drop all criminal charges against him, becuase he was not resisting arrest, he was talknig to the officers about why he was in his HOME WHERE HE LIVED… the officers have no right to punch a man in the face over 30 times and beat him with a batton when, the man did not even raise his hands to fight… all he did was protect himself… THE POLICE UNION IS GOING TO WORK TO PROTECT THE COPS JOBS, AND EHUD is GOING TO SUE…. HE IS GOING TO GET BETWEEN 250 and 500k, AND THE POLICE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY TO DEFEND THEIR OFFICERS………… DO YOU REALIZE HOW MUCH MONEY THESE TWO DOUCHEBAG OFFICERS JUST COST THE CITY OF NEW YORK??? PROBBLY OVER 1 MILLION DOLLARS… its cool just raise your taxes

Why the hell do I need to treat every encounter with the police like he/she is a ticking time bomb? Some of you on this forum are councilling just that. Is this the new wisdom of this modern age? That any slip of the tongue, any careless movement, the slightest rise in my voice could automatically trigger the police officer to beat the crap out of me, arrest me, taze me, pepper spray me, even kill me?

Should I respect a man/woman who can explode at any second? Sounds to me the actions of a psycho. Somthing to be feared perhaps, but not respect. Never respect.

How long will it take for the sheeple to realize that these government union thugs will steal more of your money, take more of your freedoms and liberty, and potentially harm you or threaten your life, more then any amateur parasite like an OWSer ever would.
You would think an the very least you would be tired of your taxes going up each year to support these leeches and their parasitic families that you have to house, cloth and feed.

Walkabout, cuff him for what exactly? What was the original charge? Sleeping on a couch he said he had permission to sleep on? The cops were WAY out of line, on so many fronts, on this one, and I am one of those that is generally pro cop. The tSecurity guard should have called the Rabbi right at the beginning and determined if the sleeping guy was known to him. Have always felt that a Miss Manners Course should be a prerequisite to joining the police force. Many encounters would be defused and there would still be plenty of head knocking to do on the REAL bad guys that seem to get away with everything.

Its nt just a simple inconvienence. Why should he be humiliated, handcuffed, and thron in a 10×10 cell for a night or to simply because these pigs didn’t understand where he belonged OR they didn’t like the way he looked at them! I am going to tr and calm down now…whn I sa cop after cop after cop coming in the room at the last part of the movie it made me sick!! 8-10 bullies for one unarmed skinny jewish guy…sound familiar?

I know Glenn Beck and most Blazers just LOVE cops. Most cops are just ex bullies from high school now getting paid to bully people around. This “cop” assaulted this guy and beat him like he was a boxer. Anybody else beat someone like that would go to jail for assault, but a cop can do it and he will get a merit medal for valor. Don’t get me wrong, there are a few good cops out there, but most just like to throw their weight around. Like this cop. Obviously he has some boxing experience by the way of his fluid movement. He knows too that if that shirtless man were to punch back to defend himself, the cop could shoot him and would get away with it. And most Blazers would be right there defending the cop for killing a man defending himself from getting senselessly beaten.

That’s called “short sightedness” because these same idiots defending the cops could be a victim later on to a bully cop just like that and nobody will be there to defend you on TheBlaze. All the Blazers will be saying “you had it coming,” etc. just like you say now.

If you have 47 cops show up to a single male sleeping on a couch, that tells me there are WAAAY too many cops employed. I think some layoffs might be in order. Each cop making about $60,000 to $90,000 per year and you have gobs of them showing up on this dude. Think of the taxpayer money that could be saved if you’d lay off about 85% of that force.

The biggest point being missed is that NYPD got his DNA and stripped searched him without cause. Yes one look at NY and CA today show the bankrupt future ” liberals” offer the rest of us. I say he tries for $1m+ especially because of his DNA being stolen by brutal assault by corrupt illegal cops.

Who would want to live in NY where you get the same treatment if you simply J walk, litter etc. or whatever they make up. I think being a Jewish addict will also sway allot of folks. You bet they are helping their MB friends to kill all of us Jews with ” liberal” Jews leading the Sharia charge.

I say boycott NY that has nothing but garbage they call air and CA that are like Greece/Spain dragging us down. See CA committing voter and other frauds so don’t give them a dime anymore.

Yeah, this is bad. But it also points out another large pet peeve of mine. Did you see how worthless that female cop was? All she could do was whip the poor defenseless guy with a stick while the other cop ‘tried’ to hold him immobile. It took another male cop to finally control him and put the cuffs on. That half naked Jewish kid was pretty strong (or the male cop was a wimp) and one cop couldn’t get the cuffs on him. Meanwhile if he had been a REAL perp, the male cop could have been killed while the female buzzed around like a worthless mosquito with her little stinger. Pathetic. Then she could have been easily captured, raped and/or killed too.

I’m sure some women love to pretend that they can handle purely male jobs like cop, firefighter or soldier but they are delusional and our political correctness and lack of backbone enables their ridiculous delusions of maleness to go unchallenged. Women have some impressive advantages over men in other areas but assaulting and controlling dangerous men and protecting their partners from physical harm aren’t among them. It’s like the pink rhinoceros in the room that everybody pretends isn’t there. Women should absolutely NOT be in dangerous male dominated jobs, period. They will (and regularly have) gotten themselves or their partner/s killed due simply to their weaker physical strength and invariable hesitation in the face of imminent danger. It is pure unadulterated play acting stupidity.

are you guys blind or something? The police were called to the location by someone at that location and told this guy was not supposed to be there. When the video starts the cops are just standing there hands in their pockets talking to the people involved trying to figure out what is going on. You then see someone else enter, most likely the guy who called. Then the shirtless guy gets up off the couch, and by reading his body language gets aggressive. he gets way to aggressive and way to close to the cops. Way closer than i would have ever let this guy get to me. he continues to be aggressive in his gesturing and it is obvious by the cops body language and gestures that they tell him to sit back down on the couch, you can see that they said it more than once. Then they try to place him in custody , because he is no longer cooperating, and he resist even more aggressively. Then the male cop tries to take him down and can’t by himself, and the beating continues, until another cop, a useful one, because the female cop on scene did not help her partner one freakin bit. As you see as soon as the other cop gets there, boom he is put in cuffs and the beating stops. The cops did nothing wrong here.

Cops in 2012: The tip of the big government spear.

This is the other side of your “social safety net” coin, folks. Stone cold tyranny.

Sure, right now this happens to “other people”. But if its cause is not addressed IT WILL BE YOU or someone you love. It’s only a matter of time at this point.

It’s very interesting that this was a Jew that was beaten down by government thugs. Reminiscent of a certain time in human history, no?

How many of these videos do you need to see to realize that we are in big trouble, Americans?

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of police brutality videos on YouTube alone. How many abuses of power like this don’t make it to YouTube?

Conservatives love their police and military, but they’re going to learn just how fast they can turn against the innocent when their orders come from malevolent pols. It’s happening right now. Just look around.

BTW, Your government (non-military) has purchased well over a billion rounds of ammo this past year.

There was no crowd & his action did not appear threatening.

He should have let them cuff him given current understanding of law enforcement & sort it out later.

The officers don’t appear to be particularly bright. I think they should stay at the bottom rung of the force. The officers have the word of the security guard & Ehud. They decide to arrest Ehud. They couldn’t get on a cell phone & talk to the Rabbi? It would have taken as much time to do that as arrest Ehud & process the paperwork, less actually.

The same can be said for law enforcement.Back in the 70′s, any contact with police, usually because of speeding, was met with politeness from the officer, as well as myself, even joking slapping them on the back at somethinng funny the said and vice versa,Today, tensions rise the very moment a cop lights someone up,and you never know which side will twist off and do something stupid for what ever reason. This is what disrespect by the young people, and too much fear from the cops, and too much p/c b/s does to todays society…..Its the responsibilty of both the leo’s and civilians to show respect for each other……..

While there are police officers that join the force to protect and serve the general population, far more are ex-military. Unfortunately, they usually aren’t the members of the military that answer a personal call to duty of the country. There are way too many that have joined to avoid incarceration and don’t seem to be able to function in a civilian role and feel compelled to join some type of law enforcement agency. Now, with the law on their side, they evolve into a mindset that they are above the law. At this point, most of these cops, like these in this example in New York or those that pepper sprayed the protesters at UC Davis almost a year ago are nothing more that downright pigs!

This stuff is happeneing more and more because we have a group of 20-30 year old unemployed government whiners on disability or whatever that want to do what they want to do. The bottom line is the cops were called by a staff member and they acted on what they knew AT THE TIME. Sunday morning QBing is old hat now a days.

I was a cop for 12 years and I guese I was just trained differently. Striking someone repeatedly was not part of the use of force. I don’t know all the details but from the video, it does look like the male officer was way too willing to get into a boxing match and made no attempts to actually restrain him. This may be a future training issue for the NYPD but for now that was an assault on a person. A police officer only has the right to use such force as is reasonably necessary to effect the arrest and any more than that is assault.

Cops these days are not like the peace officers they used to be. Sadly, too many people don’t see that and will blindly lick their badges and and ask for another one. Modern “law enforcement officers” are nothing more than jack booted thugs. They’re enforcers alright, but not the type they’re described to be. They can do whatever want, and the depts always respond with “The officer responded appropriately”, that tells you all you need to know about their training and about the policies of the dept.

I also know what I hear out them when they are setting around talking- enough that I wouldn’t trust them to protect me from one of their fellow officers if he or she was doing wrong. They all know if they don’t go along they might go down with friendly fire when a shooting happens. And backup won’t show up when they need it. I think we’re to a point that 20% are good 80% are bad cops – in the past it was reversed

Do you think the police would behave better if they thought a mob might show up at their homes if a video appears that shows totally inappropriate behavior like this video? Termination, like what happened to the cops that did the pepper spraying at UC Davis, might be the best way to deal with bad behavior.

Let me put it this way, no one likes to see an officer of the law have to use such excess force like this….. however, when you have a subject that is combative, uncooperative, disrespectful and refuses to adhere to your instructions as a law enforcement officer, then physically assults you as this person did, then you do what you have to do to subdue him/her. The harder a person fights you, the more of a threat to you or your fellow officer(s) they become, so the tougher you have to become in order to do your job. Sorry, like it or not, that’s the way it is…. If this man would have simply cooperatated, I’m sure everything could have been worked out peacefully, the individual set the stage for this. All I saw was an officer doing what had to be done. I highly doubt that the Officer WANTED it to end up this way… I’m tired of watching idiots be made out to be the innocent victim and the police officers always made out to be the bad guy by the media. Sometimes they are, but not with a combative person…

He shouldn’t have resisted. Did the police overreact? It seems so, however there is no audio, so I don’t know what was said to them. That said, the moment you resist you guarantee the situation will escalate. Had the man calmly gone with them the situation would have been sorted out in time.

Unless you feel your life is threatened, don’t resist. I’m not sure how to say it any simpler. It’s common sense.

The thing to remember about it is, under the Constitution we have the RIGHT to resist an unlawfull arrest. If I have done nothing wrong and I am being arrested I will resist. As was stated earlier, there is no audio so we don’t know what was said or being said but it did not appear to me that the either of the officers even attempted to gain control of him with the exception of holding him down to continuously strike him. My police training was evidently different. I was trained that if I could grab an arm, an arm lock works alot better than strikes. But, I worked in an area where I would possibly be in a fight for 20 to 30 minutes before back up could get there. Maybe they should have waited the minute or so that it took for all the other officers to arrive.

In Texas you can actually shoot a cop (by the letter of the law…good luck in court though) if the use of force is excessive and unauthorized. For example, you rob a bank? Probably going to get beaten/shot. You get pulled over and have a conversation with a cop and protest your innocence and he drags you out of the car and starts beating you? The law says you can shoot him and you just might even get a jury to acquit you…maybe.

People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God– having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”
      2 TIM 3:1-5

People don’t become cops to “protect and serve,” they become cops so they can get out their aggressions. Meat heads.

Wouldn’t you say that it depends on the the individual? That each person attending the academy has his own personal reasons for doing so? I’m seeing a larger number of abuse from the police, but don’t know if it’s because the cops are becoming more corrupt or that there are more cameras everywhere that are just supplying news outlets with more sensationalist material.

This type of thing is abetted and aided by the thinly veiled anti-semitism of the Obama administration.
