Could Relationship Scandal Cost ’2016′ Creator Dinesh D’Souza College Presidency?
Prominent author, college president, and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza is facing questions from the board of the college he oversees after an article in the Christian publication WORLD alleges he has been carrying on a relationship with a woman who is not his wife.
The article about D’Souza — president of the The King’s College in New York City — appeared online Tuesday morning by author Warren Smith, a former public relations consultant for the school, and is also slated for publication in the November 3 issue of WORLD Magazine.
According to the article, D’Souza attended a gathering of roughlyΒ 2,000 people on Sept. 28 at First Baptist North in Spartanburg, S.C. to speak alongside other prominent Christians about defending their faith and living Christian lives. While there, it says, the “2016: Obama’s America” creator was accompanied by woman named Denise Odie Joseph II, whom heΒ introducedΒ to at least three people as his fiancΓ©e. But that wasn’t all. Smith writes:
Finally, near 11 p.m., event organizer Tony Beam escorted DβSouza and Joseph to the nearby Comfort Suites. Beam noted that they checked in together and were apparently sharing a room for the night in the sold-out hotel. The next morning, around 6 a.m., Beam arrived back at the hotel and called up to DβSouzaβs room. βWeβll be down in 10 minutes,β DβSouza told Beam. DβSouza and Joseph came down together, and Beam took them to the airport. The next day another conference organizer, Alex McFarland, distressed by DβSouzaβs behavior, confronted him in a telephone conversation. DβSouza admitted he shared a room with his fiancΓ©e but said βnothing happened.β When I called DβSouza, he confirmed that he was indeed engaged to Joseph, but did not explain how he could be engaged to one woman while still married to another. When asked when he had filed for divorce from his wife, Dixie, DβSouza answered, βRecently.β
According to court documents reviewed by Smith, D’Souza had filed for divorce from his wife of 20 years, Dixie, on October 4 — about a week after the speaking engagement.
Upon release of the article, the board of Kings College released a statement explaining its members spoke with D’Souza about his relationship and will be meeting this Wednesday and Thursday to assess the matter further. Given that Kings is a Christian college, its board asserts that values consistent with the faith and for which its students can use as a beacon are the first priority:
TheBlaze caught up with Smith, who attended the conference in South Carolina with D’Souza, to find out what motivated him to write the article and glean greater insight into the matter concerning D’Souza and his relationship. When asked why his former relationship with King’s College was not disclosed in the article, Smith said that “never had a formal staff position” and that his affiliation with the school was “well in the past.”
But Smith’s mark is still on the college website. A press release still alive on the site dated September 2, 2010 lists him as the contact for the school and a hyperlink to his name reveals a King’s College email address.
WORLD’s Editor-in-Chief Marvin Olasky also formerly served as King’s College provost but Smith explained that since Olasky did not serve as editor for the D’Souza story, he did not see a conflict. He added that the only reason Olasky departed King’s was to serve in a fulltime capacity at WORLD.
Smith, who told TheBlaze that he has known D’Souza in a professional capacity for roughly five years, ceded that it is always “difficult for us, as Christians, to write difficult stories about other Christians.” He maintained, however, that Β ”we also believe it is our duty to do so.”
“We are a news magazine that is written from a Christian perspective…We felt we had an obligation to write it.”
Smith said he did speak with D’Souza who confirmed the young woman was indeed hisΒ fiancΓ©eΒ and that following his WORLD report, the “Roots of Obama’s Rage” author sent a text message saying his engagement had been suspended. Β In his WORLD report, Smith writes:
According to San Diego County (Calif.) Superior Court records, DβSouza filed for divorce only on Oct. 4, the day I spoke with him. Under California law, that starts the clock on a six-month waiting period for divorce. DβSouza on Oct. 4 told me his marriage was βover,β said he βis sure Denise is the one for me,β and said he had βdone nothing wrong.”
Smith added that he is not in a position to speculate about D’Souza’s motivations for being so open about his newΒ engagement and that he simply wanted to be as accurate as he could in his reporting.
According to Smith’s article, DβSouza asserted that Kingβs board chairman Andy Mills has known about his marital problems for at least two years, and a spokesman for Mills told Smith the chairman was βhopeful about restoration and both he [DβSouza] and Andy were praying to that end.β

Geeze Wango, I do not recall anyone ever suggesting that DβSouza is THE paragon of virtue that we all ought to aspire to, only that he is an insightful conservative. THAT stands.
Interestingly, I find nothing amongst your casted slurs that refute anything he has produced for the public. Have I missed something, or is name-calling all that you have?
I’m still looking for the ‘Ignore” button to be used for avoiding droll trolls…

No, you are wrong. He called himself a Christian, inserted himself in the Church, and benefited monetarily from his Christian job as well as from Christian donations. Did you read the linked article?? This is absolutely not political:
=> βHe broke into the Christian conference and megachurch market in 2007 with the release of a book that year, βWhatβs So Great About Christianityβ.DβSouza now receives speaking fees sometimes in excess of $10,000 from Christian groups, putting him in the top tier of Christian speakers.
Now that he got caught committing adultery IN PLAIN SIGHT and LYING about it, he suddenly decides to βsuspendβ his engagement.
Of course he has βdone nothing wrong.β He is just another money-grabbing wolf.

You might not like your current spouse but there is NO reason to make things worse. I agree with Dinesh about Obama, but it’s obvious that The Blaze editors and the Christian community want to contain this story as much as possible without it being reported everywhere. Basically, my argument has been your belief system has put you in a position where you are boxed in so that you have to ignore or deny everything put forth by the scientific community as well as any journalism that might be remotely perceived as anti-Christian.

Were you defending D’Souza’s sinful actions? Because that was the impression I got.
Adulterer is anyone who has sex with someone besides his/her spouse. In this case, D’Souza already “put away his wife,” for another. I guess he’s going to marry the other woman at some point — or not. It’s still adultery. Remember the woman in the Bible who was caught in adultery? She didn’t leave her husband and marry another man. Women couldn’t do that in Biblical times. She was a married woman who was caught having sex with another man.
If you are confused about the “except for fornication,” (Matt. 19:9), Jesus was talking about a woman like Mary who became pregnant while she was betrothed (legally bound to Joseph). Joseph decided to “put her away secretly” (although everyone would have found out anyway). Of course in her case she didn’t commit fornication, but that would be the cirKumstance Jesus was alluding to.

It is absolutely crazy that he gives a speech about living a CHRISTian life and then heads back to the hotel with his “fiance”. I would not be interested in one word of that speech. Even if you believe he did nothing with his “fiance” in that room, he still had no business being alone in it with a woman who is not his wife. Abstain from appearances of evil. And boy did that appear evil. It is too bad because we have had so many CHRISTian men that have strayed away from GOD lately. Satan is working overtime. First off, that Christian organization is Campus Crusade for Christ, now CRU. You canβt begin to count the MILLIONS of people who have come to Christ through that organization. So I find your implication offensive.
It doesnβt matter how long he has to wait. He filed for divorce AFTER the Christian event and lied about it. If he lied about the divorce, he probably lied about not sleeping with her too. Heck, the guy was banging Ann Coulter for G’s sake, played clean up to pornographer progeny Bob Guccione. Come on, people, drop the scales from your eyes.

Posted on October 16, 2012 at 7:57pmLike the phony economic data…coincidence? Ummmm…maybe not. And can’t you just hear Clinton laughing (cue the Clinton acccent): “Shazam, this kind of stuff made me even more popular! What’s the big deal? I did this kind of stuff for 30 years and the press loved me for it! They even promoted infidelity, just like in socialist Europe. I hope the broad was better looking than most of mine and he didn’t slap her around like I did. Oh, wait, did I just admit that?”
