Krauthammer Reacts to Debate: ‘This Was a Boxing Match, This Was Heavyweight, This Was Frazier, Ali’
Fox News contributor and syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer said Tuesday night’s presidential debate was a “boxing match,” both candidates circling around each other on a stage that even resembled a boxing ring.
“We love this stuff. This was a boxing match, this was heavyweight, this was Frazier, Ali,” Krauthammer said.
“At one point I thought they were sort of going to use their mics as weapons and it would turn into the Taiwanese Parliament where you get these fantastic fist fights,” he added.
According to Krauthammer, Romney did just as well as he did in the first presidential debate, however, Obama “clearly had a good night,” especially compared to his poor performance in the first debate.
“I thought there was one point where Romney did really well.. that was on the larger general issue on the failure of this administration,” he explained. “When Romney went large, he did well. When Romney went small, trying to answer each point here and there, I think Obama got the better of him.”
He also said Obama was “completely at sea” when the issue of Libya came up.
“He was asked about the security in Libya at Benghazi, he didn’t even try to answer because he had no answer,” Krauthammer said.
However, he said Romney missed a “huge opening” to keep the pressure on Obama regarding the White House’s misleading statements on Benghazi. At one point, Obama said it was “offensive” that Romney would accuse anyone in his administration of playing politics or misleading on the issue.
“The obvious retort was: ‘Mislead? You sent out your UN ambassador to mislead America on five television shows in one morning, implying it was about a video, talking about a riot. There was none. There wasn’t a video involved in this issue in Benghazi,” Krauthammer added.
He also said moderator Candy Crowley’s intervention on the Libya question where she said President Obama called it an act of terror in the Rose Garden the day after the attack was “essentially incorrect.”
“He did not call it a terror incident,” he said.

Posted on October 17, 2012 at 8:59amLou Dobbs would be great. Krauthammer was incorrect however stating Romney did not go after Obama on the Video, etc. Romney could of been clearer in thought, however Crowley interferred…one could see how Obama was saying “Candy, Candy”….help me. Some of the questions came from the left wing – one woman could not remember her most important question in life (had to go to her pocket to find question)…I found that laughable.

I had a chance to watch the 1992 debate the other night. (I think CSPAN aired it) How absolutely far we have sunk. It’s a damn shame when the ghost of an independent candidate from 1992, ala Ross Perot, can outdo BOTH these guys twenty years later in talking points and cutting to the chase. Seriously, go back and watch that debate.
Can’t even believe what I witnessed. For two supposed “men” to be vying for the most powerful position on the entire planet….. you could have fooled me. This is the BEST we have on this planet to hold this position??? This is it??? Really???? REALLY???!!!!!

Posted on October 17, 2012 at 6:22amIt was nauseating. These two men are far from the best the planet has to offer. The real powers that be will not allow the best candidate to run. We all know that. Our candidates are processed by a group of individuals prior to us even knowing the candidates names. After the power group gives a candidate the nod, only then are they allowed in our presence. It’s not that the world lacks true men of integrity and intellect; it’s the good old boys that will not allow them to serve.

Posted on October 17, 2012 at 2:55amThere are a few things that bother me and I simply do not understand. One of those besides the obvious is why the bloody hell is Hillary taking the blame on her? What does she gain or what is it that she does not want to lose by doing this? What is the strategy in this case, because I know there is a major strategy at play here. And now, all of a sudden Mighty Obama wants to be hero in chief and in a very subtle way takes responsibility for whatever may have happened. Whoever is investigating this must, and should not omit in any way shape or form asking direct questions as to who knew what and when, and why the bloody hell did Obama mention the video in his UN speech if he is now claiming that he referred to the attack as a terrorist attack.
In my humble opinion Romney is 5 minutes smarter than anyone else in the Obama camp. I am foreseeing some big guns being pulled out in the next few days on this very issue. Romney allowed it to play as it did on purpose, all he wanted to get Obi to say on the record is that he called it a terror attack. Obi has no idea what is in store for him. Axelrod, the entire communist gang and all the soap in the world won’t be able to clean up the $hit Obi got himself into with just that one statement.
I wonder, how stupid does Obama really think we are?

Obee is indecisive (without val) just as he was in his voting record in the senate and the decision to get Osama. She knows someone has to stop this and now that she has come out, Obee wants to say the buck stops at him in order to try to show responsibility. I think there is a rift between the two as she has stated that she will not continue as SOS in a second term. She knows that he is living a fairy tale and unfortunately, she will get respect for this.

We had 4 years of talking. Obama has no success to his credit~in or out of office. The only thing he was successful at was getting elected with hope rhetoric. Posted on October 17, 2012 at 1:11amThat is exactly what they are doing declaring Obama the winner and Krauthammer was wrong about the point thing Obama he lost the debate. check this
CNN Poll: Obama wins overall, Romney wins many issues
so how many issues did romney win
“Still, Romney won in other key areas:
*On who would better handle the economy: 58 percent Romney; 40 percent Obama.
*On who would better handle health care: 49 percent Romney; 46 percent Obama
*On taxes: 51 percent Romney; 44 percent Obama
*On who is a stronger leader: 49 percent Romney; 46 percent Obama
*On who is more likeable: 47 percent Obama: 41 percent Romney
*On who cares more about your life: 44 percent Obama; 40 percent Romney
*On who answered more directly: 45 percent Romney; 43 percent Obama”
http://blog.chron.com/txpotomac/2012/10/cnn-poll-obama-wins-overall-romney-wins-many-issues/
wait a second on the 7 issues Romney won 5 and Obama won 2 so how exactly did Obama win the debate? It is like people were watching a different debate Romney (if like him or not) moped the floor with Obama on key issues to the people energy, jobs, economic policy, tax issues, and possibly more that I am forgetting. The polling does not add up when adding in key issues that were picked to be polled.

Posted on October 17, 2012 at 9:12amIf the uncommitted could not see the overall picture then they are too stupid to vote. Romney will win because his case was made ~not on debate points but on his success record. He sold that. Romney has been successful in his life~successful in business, successful in running a state, successful in making a budget and following it, a successful record which shows he is capable on taking on this country’s problems. Obama doesn’t have a record of success at anything.
As Romney said on the campaign trail “Hope is not a strategy”. Talk is cheap. The overall picture those idiots that have no clue what is going on will surely have gotten a glimpse of that in this debate.
So tally up points is not going to make any difference. They are applying for a job and people will want experience this time around.

I don’t think they will bother again this election, they accomplished the historical moment that they wanted and the whole climate of the economy this time around is just not inspiring enough for those generally disinclined to come to the voting booth to do so on November 2. While I would definitely agree that non-black voters who didn’t want to seem racist helped him tremendously, I think that moment has passed as well. Obama is in trouble, no doubt about it. Posted on October 17, 2012 at 12:31amThat was not a fight, that was cramming too many questions in too short of a span of time, in order to make a sitting President look good if he could have a conversation about the issues without really “debating them”? How do you call that a debate when there were so many limits?
Clearly we are not energy independent, the prices of goods and services, particularly energy (did you bill go down last month) are going up, and Mitt Romney, without any real sense of drama, but with humble humility, reminded us that the prices of health care is going to go up?
Do we really have to talk about how we don’t owe people money anymore, we owe the government for big ticket loans? We did not cut out the middle man, we just made it harder for you not to go to the government for the things you need?
I mean, yeah, if you are paid millions of dollars to write stuff in the media and are not really affected by all this stuff, you might think that was highly entertaining? The rest of us are mortified? It’s obvious some of these news events revolve around election events and that just does not bother people?
No answers for Libya, when it obviously it was neglect, or God forbid the creation of a gun free zone? Fast and Furious tragedy in no gun zones, and still no curious mention of the fact the wife of Univision is an ambassador to the UN, not one tweet that offer appears out of the blue?

Posted on October 17, 2012 at 12:28amOne of the things that saddens me is how James Madison would view this debate.
In Federalist #37, Madison talks about the convention and how such an important issue as the constitution should be debated. He lamented the vexing passions even in his own time:
“It is a misfortune, inseparable from human affairs, that public measures are rarely investigated with that spirit of moderation which is essential to a just estimate of their real tendency to advance or obstruct the public good…”
I am already becoming weary of the spectacle of these Jerry Springer debates. Compare Nixon-Kennnedy, where the opponents respected the American people by being civil.
Obama and Biden have decided they really, really want to confront by scoring points on who can insult the best. It is because they are losing.
Romney, you could tell prefers the Madison ethos. The president is a serious office and Romney will perform and respect his duty in it in ways not seen since I was young man. People will see, even those opposed to him, how much more they will value the highest office in the land.
