‘You Want Me to Answer?’: Heated Confrontation Erupts After Obama Interrupts Romney on Oil Drilling

It didn’t take long for tonight’s presidential debate to get heated. In a surprisingly-intense moment, President Barack Obama rose out of his chair  and confronted Romney on stage. The subject of the argument? Energy policy.

The moment commenced while Romney was making allegations about the Obama administration’s handling of energy permits on public lands (he claimed they had decreased by 50 percent). The president, who was initially sitting on his chair and listening to Romney, interrupted and claimed that the GOP candidate’s allegations weren’t true. Then, he stood up and confronted him.

Rather than ignoring Obama and continuing his answer, Romney turned to the president and began questioning his assertion that his administration didn’t cut permits by 50 percent. When Obama attempted to answer without giving a specific percentage, Romney pushed him incessantly on the issue.

Newsday described the heated face-off as follows: “Romney, taking his turn, accuses Obama of cutting permits for energy resources. Obama interrupts him and the two get into their most direct confrontation yet. Both standing up, sharing the stage.”

Here’s how the exchange unfolded, in part:

“In the last four years, you’ve cut permits and licenses on federal land and federal waters in half,” Romney said, directly to Obama.

“Not true governor Romney. Not true,” the president responded.

“By how much did you cut them by, then?,” Romney recounted.

“Governor, we have actually produced more oil –,” Obama interrupted.

“No, no. How much did you cut licensees on federal lands and federal waters?,” the republican candidate again asked.

And it didn’t end there. Watch the confrontation, below:

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

This is great, its so easy to win a debate versus Obama, yet too few politicians call him out on his lies. Here we have Romney calling Obama out right in front of him.

Lets be honest. We have no idea who is telling the truth and which one is lying. At this point, it’s all hearsay.

I don’t know the right answer, they are both saying opposing things. It’s like one person telling a blind man his shirt is Red and the other saying it’s Blue. At the end of the day, it takes a third party to confirm the facts.

I am waiting for Politifact to weigh in.

It shouldn’t be that HARD to choose, now should it?

      1. Religion: Mitt Romney believes that we are all children of a loving Heavenly Father. Barack Hussein Obama believes Jeremiah Wright when he says, “God hates a cr@cker!”
      2. Economics: Mitt Romney believes in a free enterprise system established and well thought out in the sound philosophies of Adam Smith and Milton Friedman. Barack Hussein Obama believes that “God hates a rich cr@cker!”
      3. Leadership: Mitt Romney believes in the ages old adage: Never blame a subordinate. Barack Hussein Obama says, “Hillary did it, but she is on my team, so let me fix it. I need four more years…”
      4. And on and on and on it goes…

Wonderful thing the internet. Apparently, the Washington Times DOES know who’s lying. According to the article they posted online this evening, permits were up 58% under Clinton, up 116% under Bush and DOWN 36% under Obama, citing the Bureau of Land Management as the source of their information. (See:http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/watercooler/2012/oct/16/picket-flashback-oil-drilling-permits-down-36-perc/)

Obama is telling partial truths. Rig count is up and production is about 6.5 million barrels per day which means a lot of rigs producing small amounts on private land. But Romney is much more accurate in his assessment in that Obama has pretty much shut down drilling on public lands. Open up public drilling and we could make it to 10 million barrels per day maybe more and that would lower the price per barrel.

And you don’t have to wait on politifact to figure this out; seriously politifact!? You can figure it out on your own at http://gis.bakerhughesdirect.com/Reports/StandardReport.aspx

Baker Hughes is a private company that has kept rig counts since the early 20th century. Most everyone in the industry and Government relies on there numbers.

Obama said gas price fell because of the economic collapse. I know it’s hard to believe anything that comes out of Obama’s mouth but this is true. Gas prices fell dramatically because world demand dropped like a rock of course due to near world wide economic implosion. Truth is truth. Everyone in the financial sector was talking about it then. The price fall is absolutely what you’d expect when the global financial system nearly collapsed and that’s exactly what happened. Just 4 months before the price per barrel reached an all time record at 147$ a barrel which shook an already weakened system.

I have always cringed when I hear people compare gas price when Obama took office to now in a negative way. It’s just not a fair comparison. I just can’t knowingly beat Obama over the head with something I know to be a false narrative. Besides, there is plenty of facts to do just that.

However, had Obama not restricted drilling on public lands we could be looking at gas in the 2 dollar or less range. That is also true.

Obama has unleashed the EPA to kill jobs and cripple all forms of business through overbearing regulations, the EPA is singlehandedly running jobs out of America, Obama has hired a bunch of ENFORCERS at the IRS to make us buy Health Ins., Obamacare is loaded with TAXES on businesses of all kinds, and will hit the middle class specifically, Fast and Furious has cost many Mexican lives and some of our own, and these liars claimed Executive Privilege so the truth can be hid, by Executive Order Obama has ruled like a king and broken all kinds of laws by doing this (amnesty for illegals), Obama has refused to defend and uphold Federal laws from DOMA to Illegal Immigration, Obama has sued states for trying to comply with the law and protect their citizens, Obama is suing states that are trying to comply with voter laws to clean up their voter rolls, Obama is getting our soldiers killed because of his limp wristed rules of engagement, our Ambassador is dead because of “refused security”, and Obama still won’t tell the truth about it, (it was watched in Real Time!!!) I live in Oklahoma and I assure you Romney is right. My sons have their own construction company and they have about a dozen oil leases so they know. They got into oil because of small 1 or 2 well owners that was spending all their profits fighting the EPA. The EPA can fine you $34,000 a day if you have a drip or the fence around the pumping unit that needs repair. My sons get emergency request all the time from oil companys that have been cited. Most of the drillers around here have layed off because lease owners can’t get permits without hireing a lawyer and they refuse to go through the courts knowing they may drill and have a dry well or a well that pumps 40 barrrels a day and in amonth is down to 1/2 a barrel a day.

I have four brothers who work in the Oil fields in Utah and South Dakota, a couple of them work in management in those areas, They complained of the exact same percentage of lost permits to me this past summer. Romney would know the accurate number- his energy adviser is the owner of one of the biggest drilling companies in South Dakots, whom my works directly under. The facts are correct

While overall domestic oil production has declined over several decades despite the promises of many politicians, the production on PRIVATE lands has increased, Barry the liar, is using this fact to hide his agenda to cut all oil and gas production, and is using the BLM to keep new drilling permits on public lands being made available. Couple this with his enviromental wacko allies who are fighting fracking wherever it is taking place, creating wealth and jobs, look at the Dakota’s they are in an economic boom while the rest of the nation suffers. So Barry’s assertion that he is somehow an all of the above energy president is just another of his big fat lies. The sooner he is sent packing the better.

See that’s your problem with facts. Oil companies want to drill in the wildlife sanctuaries and national parks. The oil companies have million and millions of acres of un-drilled land and Obama told them to drill there or lose the leases and they didn’t so he pulled them. The oil companies want the oil where it is easier to get to, but more damaging to the wildlife and national parks.

Plus anything they drill In America doesn’t stay in America. it goes to the highest bidder on the open market. and China is that buyer.

The XL pipeline you guys keep screaming about. Do you even know what that is? It is an extension of the already existing Pipeline , they want to extend it to the gulf of Mexico so again they can ship it to the highest bidder on the open market and it is easier to get it to the refineries in Texas and the ships, and it again won’t Help America it will help the Canadians selling it.

It’s truly sick, rigged and the only way Obama can win, his lies about his own policies are a true reflection of his evil and the lefts lack of morality and integrity.
