Dem. House Member Tweets (Then Deletes) ‘Mitt Shot His Whole Wad’…Office Offers Odd Excuse

A spokesman for the Democratic congresswoman who tweeted that “Mitt shot his whole wad in the first debate” is offering an odd explanation for his boss’s vivid use of social media.

Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton was tweeting her observations of the second presidential debate Tuesday night, including her apparent view that Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney had “peaked prematurely,” as the Washington Examiner delicately put it. Norton is Washington, D.C.’s nonvoting delegate in the House of Representatives.

The tweet quickly drew media attention — including on TheBlaze blog — and was subsequently scrubbed from her account Wednesday morning along with more than a dozen others about the debate, the presidential race and the Washington Nationals, among other topics.

Spokesman Scott McCrary confirmed to to multiple media outlets that it was in fact Norton on the Twitter horn last night (though he told Washington City Paper he wasn’t sure what she had meant by that one tweet in particular). But it’s his explanation of why the tweets were deleted that is the second part of the puzzle.

“It was her tweeting last night. We had to delete them this morning because they were accidentally posted to her official House Twitter account, instead of her campaign account,” McCrary told DCist. Specifically, he told the City Paper that the pro-Obama tweets didn’t belong.

The thing is, Norton doesn’t seem to have a separate Twitter account: Her campaign website links to her regular House account. If there is another account, no one seems to know what it is — even McCrary, who told the City Paper he didn’t know the username.

Norton’s office did not immediately return a request for comment from TheBlaze about the discrepancy.

I can hardly wait for the next , 3rd, debate.
Mitt thought Obama and the moderator would let themselves be bulldozed, like the first debate.
And he ended up FLAILING to regain his footing – but never did, when they didn’t.

Now his handlers have to figure out how to PLAY the next debate.
And what positions he needs to flip flop on this time.

In his book “Leadership and crisis” Bobby Jindal tells that during his time in Washington D.C., he saw several people that would be living out of welfare if they weren’t member of Congress.

I don’t know what the big deal is. I guess some people think of shooting your wad as a sexual expression, but it wasn’t originally. The phrase dates back many decades and originally was a gambling term for blowing all your cash in one dice game.

  You’re right and you’re wrong. That is the original source of the phrase, and it was used as a metaphor after that, but it was a metaphor for ineffectiveness similar the using “shooting blanks” as a metaphor. That’s not how it is used today and it’s not how it was used by Ms. Holmes. Today shooting your wad is a metaphor for reckless expenditure of your resources, for starting boldly and then coming up empty. The origin of its use in that context is as I identified.

So, it is possible that this woman (note I do not say “lady”) didn’t realize how the comment could be interpreted.
