The Big Story the Morning After Is…Romney’s ‘Binders Full of Women’ Remark? See How the Left Is Playing It
Leftist icon Saul Alinsky wrote in his influential book “Rules for Radicals” that one of the most effective ways to deal with opposition– particularly political opposition– is to “pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Looking back on past elections, the theme can be easily identified time after time, whether it is intentional or not.
For instance, how many people almost exclusively know Tina Fey’s “Saturday Night Live” impersonation of Sarah Palin, frozen and polarized as a hillbilly who said she could see Alaska from her house? Never mind the facts or any of her actual positions– that is the candidate an overwhelming number of voters are familiar with.
We now appear to be witnessing a similar event, based on one remark by Republican nominee Mitt Romney during last night’s presidential debate. When asked about gender equality in the workplace, Romney said he asked his staff to identify a number of suitable female candidates, in addition to the men. To emphasize the number of people they considered, Romney said they had “binders full of women.” An innocuous remark in context, but now that the statement has been frozen, personalized, and polarized, people are starting to take notice.
Photo: Twitter/@BarackObama
Regardless of the fact that women on Obama’s staff were found to be paid 18% less than men, or that several high-ranking officials have referred to the administration as a “boy’s club” where women are “marginalized” and “ignored,” Romney’s “binders full of women” remark has quickly become a social media “meme.”
Though the Republican nominee’s statement emphasized how many women they were interested in hiring, here are a few of the 600+ “binders full of women” photos floating around the Internet today implying just the opposite:

And here’s a dramatic video just released by Barack Obama’s “Truth Team,” driving the message home:

“Women who worked in President Obama’s White House described it as a hostile working environment for women, so it should come as no surprise that his policies would be hostile to women across the country as well. Five and a half million women are struggling to find work in the Obama economy, and they are suffering from record unemployment under this president. No misleading, cheap political attacks from President Obama and his campaign can change the fact that women cannot afford another four years of economic misery. Mitt Romney will lead us to a real recovery so that women – and all Americans – can succeed, and he will ensure that the next four years are better than the last four.”

Posted on October 17, 2012 at 1:47pm@CBrown,
My apologies it’s 2-1 not 3-1. The snap polling I was referring to was not overall debate performance which most considered split leaning Obama….however the specific issues including the economy, jobs, cost of energy (even among traditionally Left-leaning polling) Romney dominated all of those (the economy in particular 2-1) issues. Even on the issue of leadership, Romney bested Obama by 12 points.
All Obama had to do was show up and act as if he had a pulse to be considered victorious, as for Romney; he simply had to continue to look presidential. So essentially on the issues, Romney won in the majority of polling I have seen, and in those same polls they gave the overall debate to Obama meagerly (ironically this can be seen as on substance Romney wins and on style/platitudes Obama wins).
“CBS Poll: Did Pres. Obama offer a clear plan for solving country problems? Yes 38%; No 61%.
CNN Poll: Romney Wins 54-40 on Economy, 49-46 on Health Care, 51-44 on Taxes
CBS News Poll: 65% thought Romney would do a better job on the economy (up from 71%); 34% said Pres Obama would (up from 27%).” – http://blog.chron.com/texassparkle/2012/10/romney-vs-obama-round-two/

That was a good detailed response. Yes, on Economy, Deficit – Romney wins. Also, voters are not sure what Obama’s plan is for next 4 years. On other issues (Immigration, Libya, Taxes, Women, Likability, Trade, Middle Class..) Obama Won. Some others (Healthcare, ..) were a tie.
On Intrade Obama chances of winning is 65%. Folks are betting on real money. Challenge them if you feel otherwise.

Posted on October 17, 2012 at 5:49pmWow! What a tragedy – Mitt Romney saw that there were very few women in Massachusetts government, asked a women’s group for resumes of women who would be good candidates for Massachusetts government jobs, the womens’ group sent him a “binder full of resumes” from which he picked candidates and hired them. Massachusetts is “woman-friendly”, check and see how many women hold spots in Obama’s cabinet (besides Valerie Jarrett). So sorry that is all you could come up with to pick on after the debate….

“Female employees in the Obama White House make considerably less than their male colleagues, records show.
According to the 2011 annual report on White House staff, female employees earned a median annual salary of $60,000, which was about 18 percent less than the median salary for male employees ($71,000).
The Obama campaign on Wednesday lashed out at presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney for his failure to immediately endorse the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act, a controversial law enacted in 2009 that made it easier to file discrimination lawsuits…
It is not known whether any female employees at the White House have filed lawsuits under the Ledbetter Act.”

She asked how he was going to insure woman get equal pay for equal jobs, he said basically “as gov, i went out of my way to hire women”. Binders aside, he dodged because he either doesnt acknowledge that woman of equal experience in equal positions do not get equal pay, either that or he doesn’t care.

He didn’t dodge the question at all. You just have to be intelligent enough to understand an answer that isn’t drawn in crayon. His goal is to put everyone back to work. And frankly, it isn’t the presidents job to worry about equality for women. That is a workplace issue and, at best, a congressional issue.

Posted on October 17, 2012 at 11:09amThese people are so stupid. Why do companies have “binders” of women and minorities? BECAUSE OF THE LAWS THE PROGRESSIVES PASSED! My huband is in management for a fortune 500 company and occasionally makes hiring decisions for his division. When filling a position, they must interview a “diverse” range of people before making their final decision. In his company HR does the preliminary interview, and yes, they can generally tell if that person is a woman due to the voice, the name on the resume and accent is also a dead give away. They cannot ask if someone is a woman or a minority but they can tell. Those people if proven even semi compentent go into the “pile” of resumes for consideration by the management team (also made up of a “demographicly” representitve group).
IF these “minorities” are determined to not be a good fit for the job they applied for and are willing to be considered for other positions, their resumes are put in a “binder” for future consideration and may be selected by other managers for other positions.
IF YOU DON”T LIKE BEING PUT INTO A BINDER, THEN PERHAPS YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE LAW.
