Video Shows ‘Staggeringly’ Drunk, Stoned US Security Contractors in Afghanistan

Tonight, ABC News will air cellphone video recorded earlier this year at an operations center of a U.S. Security contractor in Kabul, Afghanistan that seems to show “key personnel staggeringly drunk or high on narcotics,” ABC News reports.

Former employees say the wild behavior was routine, however, it went unnoticed by U.S. military officials who are tasked with overseeing defense contractors. As a result, American lives were put at risk. Even worse, these contractors are paid for with taxpayer money.

The video was reportedly provided to ABC News by two former employees of the defense contracting firm. It will air tonight on “ABC World News With Diane Sawyer” and “Nightline.”

Video Shows Staggeringly Drunk, Stoned US Security Contractors in Afghanistan

Pictured above is the operations center’s “security manager.”

More from ABC News on this developing story:

Asked if a response to an attack by terrorists would have been possible during the events seen on the video, one of the former employees, Kenny Smith, told ABC News Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross, “No, sir.”

Questions posed by ABC News to the Pentagon have sparked a criminal investigation by the U.S. Army, a spokesman says.
The contractor, Virginia-based Jorge Scientific, has won almost $1 billion in U.S. government contracts.

The company says it has taken “decisive action to correct the unacceptable behavior of a limited number of employees” and that several of them seen on the video are no longer employed by Jorge Scientific.

Additionally, U.S. defense contractors are prohibited from using alcohol or drugs. In fact, in the military, it is known as “General Order Number One.”

The two former employees that spoke to ABC News, John Melson and Kenny Smith, have filed a lawsuit against the firm Jorge Scientific over the incident and they say the video backs up their claims.

“They endangered Jorge employees, the U.S. mission, and U.S. military personnel,” the lawsuit states.

Must have been a real important mission for them to have the time to be falling down drunk and shooting up. Were they there to guard the poppy fields or is that duty just left for the low level grunts?

Absolutley Insane!!! Those of you that think it is ok for these guys to be drunk or high when they are “off-duty” know nothing about their mission or the environment they operate in. When these “hired guns” are done with their shift they don’t get in a car and go home. They are still at the workplace 24 hours a day and it doesn’t matter if they are done with their shift or not because the danger in which they are there to thwart and defend against is perpetual. The enemy doesn’t care if the “gun slingers” are back in their hooch getting drunk when they decide to launch an assualt. Haji doesn’t give you a pass because you’re incapacitated.
If I was still an NCO in that AO I would gather my platoon up and go kick this security team’s collective ass before the command sent them home. Moral and trust in your fellow soldier is more important than the effect these half-assed mouth breathers could provide.
    Disgraceful!!!

This is what happens when you hire a bunch of burned out combat vets to replace service men at triple the money to do the same job under oath and a chain of command. These guys answer only to themselves and are under the direction of the State Dept. who could care less what they do as long as they get the job done and don’t ask too many questions. As for the blame bush dimwit, Obama hired all of these guys to do what he wants done so they can clean up his mistakes, keep them secret and not have to answer to congress. It’s a way to get troop counts down and still maintain support for our interests. It’s also one reason why Obama has such a high wounded and body count. He’s trying to cover up his stupid policies and the havoc they cause in the area. Granted that 18-D bums me out with his disregard for his own self-preservation and endangering those around him, I do understand how he may have gotten there. I think it’s just sad all the way around.

You loss me when the article said ‘ABC’ reports. ABC is about as unreliable as CBS and NBC. They are liars and exaggerators. If these guys are drinking on their own time…it is no one’s business. The drugs are not wise and should not be allowed by their company or their supervisors. Of course…Afghanistan is the land of opium…and drugs there are probably a problem.

The sad state of affairs is the fact that I own a small but honest business, struggling to keep my door open. I opened my business from scratch. I tried many times to get government assistance, but failed. I guess I didn’t meet President Obama’s expectations. I didn’t want millions or billions of dollars and I am considered green since I supply the best in water filtration. I needed only $50,000.00 to hire a few employees, more inventory, and advertising to increase the size of my business. I opened my business when G. W. Bush was in the Whitehouse (2004) AND I was doing well until mid 2009, and Obama was starting to ruin the economy. I struggle each and every day. I am amazed how horrible the economy became, how many of my existing customers are cutting back on spending, cutting their staff’s, and what amazes me more is the fact that many more businesses are getting ready to lay off thousands of employees but Obama has told them they can’t let this hit the news stands until after the election. Hello!
Why not? Why shouldn’t people be aware of this. And this bunch of bull about new homes are being built in fast pace. Bull! We have foreclosure homes all around us! People can’t get loans. The banks are horrible and deal with only the minorities. I see it every day, so Obama is a little dark because the pooh runs high!
It’s sickening! All this ridiculous news about how the economy is gaining and growing. Bunk Obama, and the camel you rode in on!!!

Statiscally speaking, presidential and congressional actions take several years, even entire terms before you truly see effects of their actions. 2009 he was barely in office! What you were feeling was remnants of bush’s and congresses policies. Sure, a bit was also speculation on Obama but you can’t blame one man or one party for our country’s overall problems.

Obama killed my business too… once gas hit the $3.00 mark people pulled back and stopped spending. My electricity rates went through the roof as well… I know plenty of other business owners tthat are in the same boat and have closed or are considering closing. Barry has taken a bad situation and made it worse, much much worse.. it was chris dodd and barney frank that forced the banks to loan money to people to buy homes they couldn’t afford. The democrats are entirely responsible for the $hltty economy. And lets not forget to thank Bubba for signing NAFTA that really helped US manufacturing….

While I agree with your position, and ABC will never report those facts if they are true, it is still extremely dangerous to get that far out of it in such a dangerous place.

I like to have a few as much as the next guy but I would never do it in a place like Afghanistan. That place is as dangerous as the bottom of the sea and you would not get drunk there.

Is it unfair to feel more angry about ABC’s decision to air this than I do about the actual “scandalous behavior” itself? Am I wrong to think of this kind of behavior from an American news outlet when we have troops engaged in that country should be considered treasonous?

I’m really asking here. Am I wrong to feel that way?

This is a very provocative video to people who are easily provoked and have already been stirred into a frenzy by an American president loudly focusing their attention on a formerly unknown and really cheap anti-prophet movie trailer. Now, here is ABC directing their attention to a couple of infidels breaking every rule in the book on their soil.

If you think that they have some kind of leg to stand on when they try to put on the armor of “journalistic integrity,” I would only direct your attention to their intentional non-vetting of our current president and all the cover they have provided for him for the past 4 years.

Even if they could claim a responsibility to the dead concept of journalistic integrity, I would ask where the hell is their greater responsibility to the families of our troops who have boots on the ground in a hostile environment? The modern commie journalist nauseates me.

Anything that is run by the government is going to be corrupt at this point. The decay or our civilization is at a critical level. Our schools and our media seem to rule over what kind of citizens we have and that means we are in big trouble. People have no reason to uphold high standards of performance. If everybody does it and nobody cares then why put forth the effort to be exceptional?

I agree with the “1,000 Muslims isn’t enough for 1 American life” but understand what they are doing there. Our troops there are saving lives here. If we weren’t kicking up dirt in their sandbox, all the crazies would be kicking up a lot more dirt in ours. That disgustingly open southern border of ours would quickly become the biggest tourist hotspot for Arabs since Mecca.

Our brave young men and women in the war zone provide a much closer target opportunity. The difference is that they are a hard target, fully equipped to deal with IED’s, suicide bombers, and the like. They provide a hard target over there to protect the soft one over here. And we owe them all greatly for it.

So yeah, 1,000 isn’t enough to equal one of ours.

They’re hanging up there at the front of the porch with all that bright light and noise, drawing the bugs in to get zapped and gone for good, while we sit back here in our rockers with our soft, juicy flesh exposed. I just wish we’d put on a damned jacket!
