‘Wilkow!:’ Gary Johnson Discusses How He Would Work Across Both Sides of the Aisle as President

As was the case through most of the GOP presidential primary, Gary Johnson–now the Libertarian Party candidate for president–was unable to participate in Tuesday night’s presidential campaign debate. As a libertarian, Johnson holds a variety of beliefs that may attract both conservatives and liberals. The successful two-term Republican New Mexico governor was on ‘Wilkow!‘ Wednesday where he discussed if elected, how he would work with both parties to get things done in Washington:

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

Do you even question why there are more candidates on the ballot every election than there are in the debates?
Is it coincidence that the candidates we do get to hear talk about the economy without mentioning the FED?

      Ron Paul supporters
      Herman Cain supporters
      The Patriot network
      The liberty tea party
About a quarter of The TEA party
We wont vote for a progressive democrat even if he has an ‘R’ in front of his name.

Referring to the former Governor of New Mexico as a “moron” makes you a moron. If you weren’t a “moron” you would know that the matter of this country’s future is far more complex than you will ever understand and you might well consider a more careful study into that subject. While Gary Johnson takes some votes from Romney in some states, he takes some votes from Obama in other states and the projected result is a wash. By the way the “moron” you referred to climbed Mount Everest, how about you?

A vote for Romney is no different than a vote for Obama.

Big government in the “right way” is their only philosophical difference.

A vote for Gary Johnson is a vote for freedom.

I read the link from BOBDIAMOND as well and liked it but to the soft spoken Liz (again) Gary Johnson’s unique mix of persuasions will garner just as many votes from Obama as Romney and to label Johnson as an Romney Killer is (actuarially) wrong. While many Blaze runners thought Ron Paul was wrong on foreign policy, Gary Johnson is like Ron Paul with teeth. I dare say everyone on this site believes in liberty and Libertarians feel both of the big two parties are stealing it from us everyday. Requests to blanket silence third parties who seek to air the bulletin about our country, our constitution, our freedom and liberty under attack from within have lost the spirit of those concepts.

Gary Johnson completely lost me at the end of the episode. Sorry, but the President of the United States should not be “given a break” after he lies to the public in America and around the world about any situation for two weeks. If Obama would have said from the beginning, “We don’t have all the info, so I’m not going to speculate at this time.” and then spoke the truth two weeks later – I would give him a break.

I do really like some of his positions, but there are others I don’t like at all. – I want to say thank you for at least offering us the opportunity to listen to his positions.

The LP, and Gary Johnson, are only irrelevant to those that lack the intellect to understand Constitutional liberty and those that are locked into the duopoly paradigm. If Romney loses it’s because he is a weak candidate. It’s not going to happen due to principled Americans voting their consciences. Parroting some talking points from the pundits does not change reality. The Republicans need to wake up lest they become irrelevance. Peace. I like Gary Johnson, but he can’t get elected this time, and now, when Romney needs every vote possible, Gary’s participation as a candidate gravely concerns me. I have prayed about it and received a word about strife. If a person doesn’t understand what causing STRIFE means, I don’t think they are truly a genuine Christian. I have come to the conclusion that neither Gary Johnson nor Ron Paul are genuine Christians because if they were, they would understand what STRIFE means in this election, and they wouldn’t want to help create it at this time. In a way, they are no better than the Democrats and their gutter politics. This is a time for Unity, not more division which is already being supplied by the progressives. We have to get Obama out of the White House!!! That should be a unifying goal by all concerned Americans.
    To make my point:
    2 Timothy 2:23-25:
Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth
    Proverbs 20:3
It is to a man’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel
    Proverbs 30:33
For as churning the milk produces butter, and as twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife
    Proverbs 18:6
A fool’s lips bring him strife, and his mouth invi

If he gets no traction in Congress, he can wield the mighty veto pen. Johnson is really, really good at that.

He can also direct the bureaucracy to slit its own throat.

He can order our troops home from overseas.

He can order an audit of the Federal Reserve.

He can appoint someone like Andrew Napolitano to the SCOTUS.

He can stump for a flat tax or a simple consumption tax (I *hate* the prebate idea…).

He can educate We the People about the rights and liberties the government is stealing from us, using the bully pulpit.

Lots of stuff a President CAN DO, if it’s the right guy.

      @Dagneyt
A lot of Gary Johnson supporters will not vote Romney even if Gary drops out so your analysis is incorrect. Also, Gary does pull democrat votes so overall he has very little damage on republican votes. And the republican votes he does take away shouldnt go to Romney anyways – because he is a liberal

The pothead term I agree with in regards to Johnson. I just watched him as a guest on RedEye and the guy stuck up for Obama a little too much. His joking about there would be something else growing in the Rose Garden if he were there also didn’t amuse me (he was referring to weed growing instead of roses) yea, just what we need is another pot head president. (I still say in the 1st debate that Bobo was stoned

Gary Johnson seems to be an OK dude.

He’s also potentially the most dangerous man in the world.

If he is semi-successful in siphoning enough votes from Romney, then BS/BO will serve another 4 years. With that result, GJ is the most dangerous man in the world.

I’m not sure about that. I’m thinking the whack a doodle that’s essentially promised to start another war that will probably escalate into something huge would be the most dangerous man in the world.

@ Just Angry – I agree completely – Obama is destined to bring about wars on many fronts – just look at the situation in the Middle East and his use of our troops – more than 2/13 of the deaths of our troops in Afghanistan have hapened in O’s 4 years. Thankfully – Romney will prevent this with a more Reagan like doctrine of peace thru strength

She runs the White House and O doesn’t do anything without her say so.

Why else did you think that she has her very own Secret Service detail?

The writer of the above story wrote regarding Johnson… “The successful two-term Republican New Mexico governor…” Hmmmmm…

      So what’s Johnson really about?

We know what he’s not about… he’s not about cutting the size of government, as under his administration government expanded in size more than six times faster than the population expanded in his state and double the rate of State GDP growth. County and local government agencies under Governor Johnson’s administration did a better job of controlling spending (which isn’t saying much) than he did.

And yet Governor Johnson claims from the stump he is going to slash the size of the Federal Government and get it out of your life.

Or is he? He’s not going to get government out of your life when it comes to marriage… he wants to increase that involvement, by shoving the government’s nose in the bedroom of gay people to go along with all the straight couples that are already being abused by big government.

In short Governor Johnson is a liar on all counts. He never reduced spending, he never got the government out of your life, he in fact presided over a 75% expansion in the size of state government in New Mexico which grossly exceeded both GDP and population growth.

Worse, he expanded State Government debt at a rate approximately equal to that of President Obama. Those are the rather inconvenient facts.

Add all this up and then try to explain why Governor Johnson is running as a Libertarian??

      @Time
So let’s talk about your boy, Mitt Romney’s governorship.
      1. Ranked 47th in job growth: Despite Romney’s professed expertise in creating jobs, Massachusetts ranked 47th in job growth during his time as governor.
      2. Suffered the second-largest labor force decline in the nation: Only Louisiana, which was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, saw a bigger decline in its labor force than Massachusetts during Romney’s tenure as governor.
      3. Lost 14 percent of its manufacturing jobs: Massachusetts lost 14 percent of its manufacturing jobs during Romney’s time in office.
      4. Experienced “below average” economic growth and was “often near the bottom”: “There was not one measure where the state did well under his term in office. We were below average and often near the bottom,” Sum told the Washington Post in February.
      5. Piled on more debt than any other state: Romney left Massachusetts residents with $10,504 in per capita bond debt, the highest of any state in the nation when he left office in 2007.

Why are you supporting him? Peace.

And if you really wanna talk about people on the small government side spending way too much money, you cant leave W out. Hell you cant leave Rommney out either. Guess we will just have to wait and see how he does as POTUS. Cause as governor he was banning assault rifles, and implementing ORommneyCare. We all know how much you HATE libertartains…we just wish you would show some of that hate at RINOs. You know what those skateboarders say…Keep it real.

Sorry New GJ acolytes (I guess it’s NOT Ron Paul do or die huh?)… had to leave last night. Took a flight from Florida (Clearwater/St Pete) to NYC (and eventually Brooklyn) to get some water that makes it’s way down from the aquifers of upstate. THAT water makes the BEST pizza dough ya’know?. Lmao…

I don’t see anyone refuting what I wrote last night. Johnson’s a BIG government PROGRESSIVE… must suk to be you guys hving to stoop to THAT level eh?

Attention alleged Libertarians!! Johnson expanded New Mexico’s public debt just as quickly during his adminsitration as Obama has during his and he did so during a monstrous economic boom rather than a time of recession. He has no record to run on when it comes to fiscal restraint; Johnson did just as much damage to New Mexico’s debt profile on a percentage basis as Obama has nationally!

The two party system has given us a choice between two socialists. Besides Gary Johnson is pulling more support from Obama than Romney in half of the swing states, so to say he’s helping Obama win is just wrong.

Romney, a Socialist? What a laugh, he is probably one of the most successful “Capitalist” in America.
As a matter of fact he is such a good “Capitalist” that other people give him money as “Capital” for his “Capitalist” ventures.

I thought republicans supported the free market??? Why in the hell would you only want the american people to have two choices??? Do you think there should be just two types of bread or cereal in the supermarket? The problem is the election laws and the manner in which a winner is selected.

Fix the election laws instead of bitching about people voting for the correct candidate
