Former New Hampshire governor and Romney surrogate John Sununu has clashed with CNN’s Soledad O’Brien in the past (remember when he told her to put a Obama bumper sticker on her forehead?), and Wednesday morning the two were at it again discussing last night’s presidential debate.
Specifically, the two discussed the September 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, and whether Mitt Romney missed an opportunity to explain the repeated contradictions in the administration’s response.
O’Brien begins by playing edited clips of the debate, in which Romney says it took the president two weeks to admit the attack was actually a “terrorist attack,” before moderator Candy Crowley intervenes to say the president did refer to an act of terror the next day in the Rose Garden. After applause for the president, Crowley also says Mitt Romney had the right “idea,” however, and that the administration did spend roughly two weeks claiming the incident was a spontaneous protest in response to a YouTube video.
After O’Brien concludes “that’s what happened,” Snunu objects.
“The fact is that in that Rose Garden speech, the president first [said] it was the video, and then two weeks later at the U.N. the president goes out and tells the world six times it’s the video. The president got caught lying last night, and I think the world should know that!”
After O’Brien plays a clip from the Rose Garden speech, proving that Obama did in fact say the word “terror,” Sununu responds:
“You left out the first part, and it’s the first part where he’s trying to tell the American public that it’s because somebody in the U.S. used their [First Amendment] right and made a video… that caused the problem.
“This is ridiculous that you’re trying to defend the president, who [five] days later sends out his Ambassador to the U.N. to five talk shows to say it’s the video. And two weeks later the president goes to the international stage and says ‘video’ six times! That’s ridiculous that you’re trying to defend him on this.”
When O’Brien attempts to place herself somewhat on Sununu’s “side,” saying Romney missed a real opportunity on Libya, Sununu remains unmoved:
“No, because what he did was put this in the conversation again. And now people understand that the president and his ambassador for the U.N., and Jay Carney, and all the apologists for this White House, and all the groupies on television that are trying to cover his butt have been lying about the president trying to deceive America that that tragedy was the result of a video, rather than acknowledging right from the beginning that this was a well-planned, well-executed terrorist attack…
As O’Brien once again tries to point out that President Obama did mention terror in the Rose Garden speech, Sununu concluded dismissively: “This is ridiculous, and if you’re going to dwell on this, you’re out of your mind.”

Oct. 18, 2012 at 10:31amHe said, “No Act of Terror will shake the resolve of this Great Nation” … Obama had prefaced that statement with Sept. 11th and other attacks. WATCH THE ENTIRE VIDEO
He never claimed the Benghanzi Attack was terrorism.

Oct. 18, 2012 at 10:16amRepublicans are losing this issue because they took the bait. They shouldn’t be arguing semantics because everyone tunes out. WHAT WAS THE QUESTION posed to Obama? The question was about the cuts to security at that consulate and he asked who was responsible for the cuts. OBAMA DIDN’T ANSWER THAT QUESTION and to this day, nobody knows the answer.
What did he know? When did he know it?
It’s really stupid to spend time arguing about what was or was not implied in the Rose Garden.
Who authorized the cuts in security? Who ignored that consulate’s request for more security? Who ignored the attacks that happened before Sept. 11th and didn’t respond with more security, per the dead ambassador’s request?
Those are the questions that everyone should be discussing right now, not Candy or what is the definition of “is”.
The GOP is always goaded into these spats because they can’t see the clearing through the trees. Romney should have just said, “OK, Mr. President, if you were telling the American people that it was a planned attack by terrorists on Sept. 12th, why did Rice go to the talk shows 4 days later and tell everyone it was the video? Why did you yourself say it was the video at the UN six times? Why did you tell Joy Beyhar on The View when she said “Was it an act of terrorism?” you answered “We are investigating” (paraphrasing based on my memory).
Somebody needs to tell Romney not to ask questions during debates, just state facts. Don’t give your

Oct. 18, 2012 at 10:38amThey’re not losing this debate, they’re actually winning it.
Of course, NO LEFT WING MEDIA will play the ENTIRE 5 minute video. They only play edited portions to support Obama.
Fact is, Obama said, “No Act Of Terror Will Shake The Resolve Of This Great Nation …” He made this statement AFTER he talked about Sept. 11th 2001 and other terrorist attacks.
He NEVER stated that Benghazi was a terrorist attack. Not Once …
The very next day, he went on The View and was asked if it was a terrorist attack. He said, “We’re still investigating” … Again never claiming it was a Terrorist Attack.
Jay Carney (After the Rose Garden Speech) stated that this spontaneous attack was the result of a video.
UN Ambassador Rice went on (5) Talk Shows (After The Rose Garden Speech) and claimed it was the spontaneous reaction to a video.
Now … “IF” Obama had labeled the Benghazi Attack as a “Terrorist Attack” as he implied in the debate, why would Carney, Rice and Hillary Clinton claim it was the “Spontaneous Result of a Video” ???

Oct. 18, 2012 at 10:08amOur colleges and universities do an EXCELLENT job of indoctrinating our young people into liberal theology. When I went to university in the late 80′s I was a resident assistant in the dorm system and thus worked for the U. A vast amount of time and effort was spent “re-educating” the RA’s to speak in liberal verbiage. We were told that whites were inherently racist and that blacks were incapable of racism because they had no power to inflict it on others. This, from an administration that was mostly BLACK! I went to a public U in the Midwest, you can easily multiply this X10 for private schools on the coasts where most of our our “elite” journalists receive their education. It’s now extended even into grade schools. We need to get control of this or it will be the downfall of our country.

Oct. 18, 2012 at 9:31amFor a second there I thought Soledad was defending Romney but she was trying to say he did a lousy job of debating. CNN continues to lose viewers.
Before we all get our knickers in a snit, remember, these “journalists” on the news networks are picked for their looks and ideologies, not their intellect and adherence o principle. Garbage in garbage out.

Oct. 18, 2012 at 8:51amSoledad a big time drama queen. She shuffles and reshuffles the papers to suggest its all right there on the the transcript, when indeed, nothing that Candy or Obama claimed is on that transcript. The attempt to cover Obama’s back is truly amazing.
