Billy Graham Launches Nationwide ‘Vote Biblical Values’ Campaign With Full-Page Pro-Life, Anti-Gay Marriage WSJ Ad

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) unveiled a new, nationwide campaign today with a full-page ad in The Wall Street Journal. The message includes a picture of the preacher, with text encouraging Christians to leave behind a “legacy” for the future by casting “ballots for candidates who base their decisions on biblical principles.”

Graham, known for his inclusive nature and an ability to reach diverse populations has, of late, involved himself in efforts to defend traditional marriage. In May, the famed evangelist backed North Carolina’s Amendment One, a successful effort to add an amendment to the state’s constitution banning gay marriage. In this new campaign, Graham, again, makes it a point to publicly defend the traditional and biblical definition of marriage.

“The legacy we leave behind for our children, grandchildren and this great nation is crucial. As I approach my 94th birthday, I realize this election could be my last,” the text on the ad reads. “I believe it is vitally important that we cast our ballots for candidates who base their decisions on biblical principles and support the nation of Israel. I urge you to vote for those who protect the sanctity of life and support the biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman.”

While he doesn’t officially endorse a candidate by name, his focus upon these issues leads one to assume that Republican candidate Mitt Romney would be Graham’s choice. He concludes his note on the ad, writing, “Vote for biblical values this November 6, and pray with me that America will remain one nation under God.”

In addition to the WSJ ad, the BGEA will be placing the same message in the USA Today on Friday and in other outlets around America. You can read more about the campaign and see the associated ads and messages on the organization’s web site.

I think God exists, I’m not sure.
I really don’t care much for Billy Graham.
I don’t get bothered by Christians until they start speaking down to me, telling me I’m going to Hell, are loud and close-minded (like Patty Henry), talk excitedly about the end of the world, and ignore scientific theories that are provable (i.e. Evolution).

If I were you I would focus on the bible prophecies about to happen. I am a only giving what the bible says is GOING TO HAPPEN a warning before it happens

I am preaching the gospel with what time is left before the resurrection/rapture takes place.

I do not hate anyone and in point of fact in the future you will see that I did this out of the deepest love.

Prophecies are moving fast Isaiah 17:1, Isaiah 19, Psalm 83 are all about to take place with Isaiah 17:1 and 19 taking place before your very eyes

The generation that saw the rebirth of Israel will be the same generation to see the 2nd advent of Christ. That generation is now 64 years old

But before the 2nd advent the 7 year tribulation must take place and before the 7 year trib comes the resurrection/rapture

All the nations that are listed in Psalm 83 are one by one falling to the Muslim brotherhood.

      CAN YOU NOT SEE IT???

@Rick34, that’s what people keep saying but I haven’t felt it. Plus I’m semi-active LDS so your God probably is going to use his hand to strike me down sooner than later.

@Soy….I’m not hardcore religious but isn’t Johnson for same-sex marriage? If God exists, then why would he support that? You’re pretty radical, dude. In one post you basically say the Democrats and Republicans are anti-Christian and that God doesn’t get into politics. Then, you say he would support the constitutional party. I don’t know much about that party but I seriously doubt that any political party can claim that there is no corruption within the party. If you want, I can research the Constitutional Party and then come back with a long list of debauchery and corruption that I doubt you’d want me to expose.

I agree if those who believed in the so-called rapture would read the entire prophecy written in the 13th chapter of Ezekiel, telling them that God is against those who teach his children to fly to save their souls. The word is changed from souls to birds in newer translations, niv, kjv. In the book of Revelation last chapter God warns us of those changing his word,so these are false teachers.
But leave God to judge them, they are blinded for a reason and a season, in God’s plan,so if they are still upholding Christian values to fight against the god-less ones then I believe we still have to have a voice with our vote in helping them to overcome the evil that is destroying America.

Ezekiel 13:20 is not talking about THE rapture. It is those that FLOURISH/fly from following false prophets. In other words, using spells and incantations, divination, scrying, is not a thing I would suggest.

Especially for the house of Israel whom made a covenant with God at mount Sinai

This has nothing to do with the rapture

      1 Thes 4:13-18 & 1 Cor 15:50-55 are specific and clear

Also, without Hebraic studies you miss the point of the rapture that is gleaned through Hebraic idioms, phraseology, ancient customs and practices and types and shadows.

NOFX, your dilemma is a common one with those that are not believers, for the Bible tells us that the cross is foolishness to the lost. Billy Graham speaks the truth and sometimes the truth is difficult to hear. When you talk truth, you have to bring up sin, which is also difficult to hear. We are all sinners…the Bible tells us there none that are righteous, no not one and that ALL have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. Christians included. But the one thing we have that you don’t is an intimate relationship with Christ. He has made the way from death to life. The Bible tells us that the wages of sin is death, but Christ paid our wages. If not for Him, we would ALL be condemned. It is popular to support same sex marriages and relationships and political correctness dictates that we do not offend anyone’s beliefs. But Truth supercedes all that malarky. Jesus overcomes all the foolishness and confusion. NOFX, seek the truth. You are not sure what you believe…you said that. Genuinely research and seek the truth. You won’t be sorry. The truth will set you free.

If you believe in Evolution then you at least have to believe God, or a race of God like beings will exist at some point in the future. What do you think the end result of millions of years of human evolution when each generation is physically and intellectually better than the last one and has a much larger and deeper base of knowledge from which to build and innovate? Since I do not believe this is the first or the only planet in existence that supports human life I believe God became God eons ago and now provides us the formula for becoming like him in the scriptures. Because of the resurrection made possible by Christ we all have the opportunity to learn and grow indefinitely. I recommend http://www.whatsthepointreligion.com to learn more.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If My people which are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then shall I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land. Americas only hope is to come back to God, or we will suffer His judgement. All christians have a responsiblity to get right with God, get out and vote for the best choice out there to lead our country back to God. Paul used his roman citizenship to make sure that he was treated within the law. It is important for christians to stand up and make a godly impact on the world we live in.Jesus said that we are the light and salt in this world, as christians we are commanded to shine. If we are silent and say nothing we are not being obedient to the Lord. Jesus left us here after salvation for us to make a difference for Him. Jesus, himself spoke out against the wickedness of this world. He also said to render unto Cesear what was Cesears, and to obey the laws of the land..It is important that we have a say on the laws of the land. Our constitution was based on biblical principles, we as christians have a duty to vote, God uses christians to puts righteous men in office to govern our country. If we don’t put people who will make righteous decisions in office, we will end up with wicked rulers who will not do right by the people.Just ask those who live in countries without freedoms. Our country is governed by biblical (moral) principles from the word of God.

Voting with God in mind is what Billy is saying and sometimes you have to go with the lesser of two evils when you know one will do more harm to the Nation by the path they are taking. Abortion is taking an innocent life but yet this nation has killed over 50 million babies who never had a chance to take their first breath. Soy asked where in the Bible does it say we should support Israel? 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. Genesis 12:2.3 What the Bible says is pretty clear on the subject of Israel. America has been blessed for a long time because we have had leaders and citizens who understood this basic biblical principal. It really doesn’t matter if you agree or disagree with God on this. Israel and the Jews are God’s covenant people. That doesn’t change. It’s your choice to believe Him and his Word or not. That’s what faith is all about. Billy Graham has always advocated for Israel with many leaders in America. This currant administration threw Israel under the bus early on and we are already paying the consequences. If you believe in the Lord and his word, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to connect the dots. If we don’t have leadership in this county that will stand with Israel, we’re toast or as the Bible says, cursed.

It does say to protect Israel in the bible. God will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse Israel. I would support Israel even if the bible didn’t say to do it. It is a no brainer that they are our only allies in the middle east. We would be crazy not to support them.

I say Billy Graham is right telling people to vote according to the bible. God will judge all of us and bring America to our knees if we don’t turn back to God. He is waiting to bless us. It is up to us. We either become like Babylon or we become more like our founders who were righteous (following the word of God).

Everyone knows someone who is gay from somewhere. They need the Truth of what the Bible says, then they can take it up with God. You do not owe your friend hell. If you know the Truth and do not tell him/her and show them in the Bible where it speaks of it as an abomination, then you do not love your friend as you should (in a Godly way.) As a Christian and participating in fellowship with Gays, is not a wise thing to do, as they are encouraged in their sin. They are people who are on their way to hell, for many are deceived and have turned the Truth into a lie. Now your part is to fellowship with those who honor God and not slander or put others down who you know are gay. Just be kind, but not participating in their lifestyles and encouraging this. Let them know in the right way and someday they may thank you.

You are so far off the mark you are near blind. You cannot see can you? I do so hope your conscious has not been permanently seared. You need to go pray and ask the Lord to show you what you are asking because if you do not know this, I cannot help you. One more thing: Know this sinners have no Father to pray to. If you are not saved, you have but ONE prayer and that is to ask the Lord to save your soul and forgive you for your sins and come into your heart. If you do not do this, you have no other prayers. That is your prayer, if you do this and are sincere and repent, turn away from your sins, you will have a Father to pray too. One Last Thing: You will, when you get salvation have the power, motivation and desire to repent or turn away from people and things that keep you away from Christ.

Or do you keep Christmas, Easter and Sunday worship as defined as pagan worship? Is your way the only one that’s “Right”? Yeshua said that not everyone that says Lord, Lord will make it into the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who do the Will of the Father. His Torah! You have seen nothing yet. When the Holy Spirit that is holding some love and kindness leaves this world with His raptured souls. There will be no love, no kindness, no forgiveness, or any of those little things that give you hope. Hope will be gone. It is going to be bad, something people cannot imagine.
Christ left His Holy Spirit here for us for Grace and love and kindness before He ascended to Heaven, but when He comes again, it all goes along with those who have his Holy Spirit in their hearts. Listen Up. It will not be long, for the signs are here. His people see them all around.

      @Blackyb

      Perhaps some perspective is needed….

Some of my friends say that McCain is simply the lesser of two evils. He’s not great, but he’s all we’ve got. And when you’re up against Barack Obama, not so bad looks really good. While, by my standards, I don’t doubt McCain would be less damaging for the next four years, he might be worse for the next four decades.
      -Glenn Beck, July 30 2008.
      http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/07/30/beck.election/index.html

“The scenario that keeps running through my head goes like this: John McCain somehow wins; the major problems we’re likely going to face regardless of who is elected kick in; McCain gets blamed; and conservative ideals take the fall for McCain’s decidedly nonconservative policies. Plus, it’s always been my theory that you should be voting for something, not against something. Trying to win an election by just being against something is usually fruitless; see John Kerry.”

Soy said “Nothing is pure anymore – NOTHING. We cant even get our strongest biblical leaders to keep their noses out of the government and partisan trough. As a christian leader, this is the wrong time to play politics with your flock” As to your “nothing is pure” comment….welcome to the broken world we live in. You have bought into the lie that God and biblical principals don’t belong in the real world which is how we got in this mess in the first place. (did God really say?…said the devil to Eve) When Jesus said “go into all the world and spread the gospel”, He didn’t say except stay of politics and gov’t. As for saying it’s the wrong time for a Christian leader to speak out, just exactly when, in your book, is the right time? When it’s too late? In reading through your posts, it’s all about what you think, not about what God says in His word. Billy Graham understands that he WILL be held accountable for “the flock” which is why he has spoken out. Get over yourself, Soy, or keep on thinking you know more about the Bible than Rev Graham does. You’re free to vote anyway you want in this election. If Obama get’s another term, you may not have that freedom of choice next time cause he has already shown by the HHS mandate that he doesn’t respect the 1st amendment and freedom of religion. Make no mistake, a vote for Gary Johnson is a vote Obama.

Billy Graham knows that the Mormon is way better for America than the Muslim.
Why won’t the rest of America wake up? Have we Americans lost our Spirituality?
Can we no longer tell right from wrong? Do we no longer have a moral compass?

A second Obama term will mean the demise of America and Israel.
In my opinion, Obama will hand us over to our enemies. I truly believe he will cause even greater division and wars. I truly believe, he is the anti-Christ.

Nice, soy, you have a quote from 1994 from Romney. So there’s no chance he changed his views in the past 18 years since then? You know neither Ron “white power” Paul nor Gary “Open borders” Johnson could make it through the vetting process that Romney has been through. I find that most Ron Paul feel like you always can talk **** because you always endorse 3rd party candidates that have zero chance at winning.

It’s insulting for Christians to be TOLD to vote biblical values – as if we are stupid
It’s cowardly to tell someone to vote for a THING and not have the courage to just say the person’s name
And it is embarrassing for a man with a legacy like Billy Graham to be tricked by a political party into thinking that just because Romney is a republican that he represents what he says he does…..

“I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country. I have since the time that my mom took that position when she ran in 1970, as a US senate candidate. I believe that since Roe v Wade has been the law for 20 years, that we should sustain and support it. And I sustain and support that law, and the right of a woman to make that choice.”
    -Mitt Romney (October 25, 1994)

Yes, you are a bit on the self promoting and maybe a bit slow on the uptake to have to take this and use it in such a negative manner. People have no respect for anyone but themselves, it seems anymore. Who are you, anyway to try to make this man of God appear like he is putting you down? His message may land on someone who is not so self absorbed and may even help many people. But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. Matt 5:22

DOn’t count your chicken there guy.
Over 30 states chose to protect and preserve traditional marriage. In California and Maine, such measures passed by a margin equal to or greater than the margin by which Barack Obama won the presidency. Slim margins don’t mean a thing when it comes to voting victory.

The predictions for the future made by homosexual activists don’t have a very good track record. Prop 8 wasn’t going to get on the ballot. It wasn’t going to be passed by voters. Homosexual marriage was a “done deal” to be legislated into existence in Maine and Rhode Island. Better take your crystal ball back to where you bought it and ask for your money back.

It’s a little late for that. According to the first chapter of Romans God left us to our devices long ago. But hey we can still pretend right? It seems it’s what we have been doing all along. When a nation gets to the point ours is at then we have honored God with our lips yet kept our hearts form Him. Our ways have degenerated into cheap grace and we justify sins by claiming we are failures. We mock holiness and embrace the world in an attempt to “relate”. Truly we have exchanged the Truth of God for a lie and have been falling for the strong delusion. Evil does not rise because of some sovereign mystery of God, it rises when those who claim His Name live unholy and wretched lives in the name of “grace” abounding. Our laodeacean spirit has us so buried in the mire that we cannot even see the full counsel of God. Mr. Graham has now committed the cardinal sin of having us bow before the voting booths. What do we further legislate morality? No gay marriage no abortion! Gosh are you kidding me? These are just the rotten fruits of a failed Christian practice! No one. No one. Not even Billy Graham stood up when these rotten fruits arrived and told us the failure was in our pulpits. Until we see this, until we “Search and try our ways and turn again unto the LORD. (Lam. 3:40)” we are fighting a losing battle. We are also slandering Gods Holy Name with our cheap grace. A unholy heart yet orthodox faith is a beast who defames God. Cheers.

Some Bibles even put these words in red letters! It’s just this sort of thing that is bringing Gods judgment upon us and as Peter Said to Simon:

Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. Herod was a sly fox who wanted to see a certain good man perform a ‘trick,’ or, a miracle as he called it. Pilate had the sense however to say regarding the same good man :’I find no fault in him,’ truly prophetic on many levels.
