‘There Was No Protest!’: Megyn Kelly’s Fox Panel Turns Into Shoutfest Over Libya Attack

A Fox News panel devolved into a shouting match Thursday during a discussion about the terrorist assault on the U.S. Consulate in Libya, with anchor Megyn Kelly raising her voice as well.

Kelly questioned Simon Rosenberg, president of progressive think tank NDN, on President Barack Obama’s initial response to the attack, particularly when he referred to “efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others.”

“Simon you’re telling me he wasn’t trying to tie the tape to what happened in Benghazi there?” Kelly asked.

“Megyn, I don’t think people knew at that point what had happened,” Rosenberg said.

“Then why is he doing that, why is he making the association?” Kelly interjected.

“The tape was relevant because that weekend that [U.N. Ambassador] Susan Rice spoke on television there were protests against the tape in dozens of cities across the Middle East,” Rosenberg said. “The tape was still roiling the Middle East, it was still a factor in the debate at that time and to deny it is just ignorant.”

“To deny it is not ignorant,” Kelly cut in. “There was no protest at the Benghazi consulate on the day of the attack!”

“The tape was relevant and was causing trouble in dozens of other capitals around the Middle East,” he said.

“But not in Benghazi!” Kelly said.

Rosenberg later insisted that Rice’s comments about a military-style assault against the consulate proved “there was never confusion about the military nature of the strike. What there was confusion of in Benghazi was the role of the video.”

There is no way that Obama can sweep this under the rug. When he stood up to address the UN, he was still blaming everything on that video, not on anything else. This guy is trying to spin this event by continuing the whole cover up and Obama clearly didn’t say this was a terrorist attack, until much later. Ya can’t dig a hole this big and climb out of it. The facts speak for themselves and instead of Obama’s attitude towards Romeny stating how dare question him about what went on is someone who is in a corner and has to seem indignant. Sorry Obama, you lose.

Team Obama has sown the seeds of confusion on Benghazi fromt he start.

The last nail in the coffin was Obama lying, again, during the debate.

Big, obvious lies right from his mouth do nothing but hurt his chances to win. Yeah!

CNN transcript from September 20, White House press conference: “The White House, for the first time Thursday, declared the attack that killed Stevens and three other people a terrorist attack.”

Everybody knows that Romney was correct in his accusations, they just try to cover Obama up, as usual.

Hey, libs… Quote from Obama’s speech:

“The United States condemns in the strongest terms this outrageous and shocking attack. We’re working with the government of Libya to secure our diplomats. I’ve also directed my administration to increase our security at diplomatic posts around the world. And make no mistake, we will work with the Libyan government to bring to justice the killers who attacked our people.
Since our founding, the United States has been a nation that respects all faiths. We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. But there is absolutely no justification to this type of senseless violence. None. The world must stand together to unequivocally reject these brutal acts.”

So, Obama did blame the Benghazi attack on the video. On September 12th, and 13th, and 14th, and 15th, and 25th… And he lied, and lied, and lied…

You guys can eat another crow.

Wait for another debate. That was only the first stab at Obama. He will be cooked and well done after the next debate. You will be lucky to win in 3 states (New York, California, and Hawaii)…

Since there were protest at other embassies at the time-then of course it was reasonable to think that an attack on the consulate in bengahazi could also be part of that protest over the film. That is logical and reasonable. It is still not clear what happened. In a post revolutionary libya where citizens had weapons -it was plausable that it was a response to the film -like the protests in cairo and elsewhere were!.It could also be alquada[whatever that means today] or a pro gadaffi militia exacting revenge on the americans for supporting gadaffis overthrow.Fox -right wing media and politicians are being dishonest here-not the obama administration.

      @ Rose-Ellen

I’m sorry but you’re quite wrong. When you say that it is still not clear what happened, you are ignoring the minute-by-minute account of the survivors. The world knows exactly what happened, and in detail. This information was almost immediately available to the State Department and they have confirmed that.

The administration CHOSE to lie. They chose to blame it on a silly video which, at that time, hardly anybody had watched. They sent Ms Rice out to lie to the American people. Mr Carney lied to the American people. Mr Obama, when he addressed the UN, lied directly to the whole world. The EVIDENCE is clear and unequivocable. That is the reason for this unabating furore.

The reason why they deliberately lied is less certain. I personally believe that there are two strong possibilities:

Firstly, to assist the push to adopt resolution 16/18 (in short, to criminalise criticism of Islam), and secondly, to cover up Ambassador Steven’s activities as they related to the material support of Al-Qaeda terrorists.

You may rest assured that in this case, as with Watergate, the whole truth will eventually surface.

Obamas, team pre devised this anti free speech narrative, way before the protests and the attacks….follow along here: 9 11, embassy attacked, 9 12, video narrative starts, media blasts the video blame, all week, the state dept sends out UN AMBASS. Susan rice on 5 major Sunday shows touting only the.video, spontaneous protests, suddenly Hillary jumps on narrative, buys ads in Pakistan to promote IT WAS THE.VIDEO, but the government didn’t make it…then Obama speaks at UN.. 6 times in front of the whole batch of Islamists, decries video and free speech….ITS ALL AN ATTACK ON FREE SPEECH! the unfortunate death of 4 people was a mistake, they didn’t account for…but the narrative of the video smells like a huge rat setup to promote the sale of anti free speech agenda, generated at the UN!! Megan kept it in context proving that obee and Co. called the “act(s) of terror”, not “terrorist attack” (2 different things completely) a result of a video released months before. obee basically was saying that the video producer created an act of terror. simon, you can attempt to spin all you want claiming non partisanship, but fact is that obee and Co. clearly do not want to use the word terror(ist) with muslims be it extremists or not.

Take away the first amendment rights of “We the People” to free speech was the plan to use this crisis. Clearly, you believe (by your words) that there is a bias or a prejudice against the administration yet the words available for all to see demonstrate CLEARLY that they, the administration, denied it being a terrorist attack. Spin all you want with the “reasonable to assume” position however every single talking point from the very beginning indicated a posture stating it was the video that caused the uprising.

According to newspaper in Cairo and according to The Center for Advanced Defense Studies, the protests in Cairo and Tunisia were pre-planned anyway. The “video” just exacerbated the protests. http://c4ads.org/latest/?p=872 http://thedailynewsegypt.com/2012/09/13/further-violent-protests-against-anti-muslim-film/ “Before one can identify the social grievances that led some Tunisians and Egyptians to join in the protests, it is imperative to understand how these protests began. Egyptian Salafis manufactured protests, looking to arouse political violence against the US and challenge the US-allied Egyptian government. “Innocence of Muslims” was first introduced into the public consciousness in Egypt by Islamist newscaster Khaled Abdallah, who broadcast the the film’s trailer dubbed in Arabic on September 9, on the Salafi-supported television channel Al-Nas. A few hundred Salafis, who had reportedly been planning to protest at the US embassy on September 11 since before the video was broadcast, led the initial protests. Eventually, they were joined by approximately 1,700 others, mostly young men. Similarly, in Tunisia 300 hard-line Salafis led 1,000 protesters, again mostly young men, in an attack on the US embassy in Tunis.”

That is NOT the point! Whether he directly called it an act of terror, thought it was a video,
or didn’t know what had happened, his response should have been the same. He should have
sat in the oval office and called in every intelligence and state department employee UNTIL
he found out the exact details and ensured that other foreign civil servants were safe. It is
unconscionable that he left for Vegas after phoning an intelligence official to take care of it.
Later, telling the world that our intelligence was too incompetent to recognize an act of terror
on 9/11 was just as egregious and an insult to those who valiantly serve. One other point, any attack on a foreign embassy is an Act of WAR and should have been dealt with personally and seriously by Obarf. His campaign trips, tv appearances and speech at the UN round out his

The minions aren’t buying it, Obama.

With the next debate centered around foreign policy, this is just a gift that keeps on giving all the way to election day……the left is obsessing over big bird, binders and lady parts….the right stays on message with economy as the main issue and middle east as secondary issue.

We need to preserve our collective conscience as history is being rewritten before our very eyes.

    Go Megyn!
    On the subject of terrorism.
Why would a Bangladeshi national choose the federal reserve in NYC as a primary jihadist target?
Wouldn’t the federal reserve, for arguments sake, be the primary target of a fiscal conservative?
Then the MSM tried to tie Obama’s possible presence in NYC into the story?
    Something stinks here.
Is the tail wagging the dog?

Liberals are just unbelievable, they listen to Rice say on tape it is black and argue bold face she said it was white. Like pound that lie until it’s the truth. Pitiful, just pitiful people.

Fox should ban liberals from their shows as they have nothing to bring to an intelligent conversation. Fox is degrading their programming.

It’s not ‘ignorant,’ rather intellectual DISHONESTY. {Megan KNOWS this -} When a ‘conversation’ cannot be had in a civil manner upon which the basic PREMISE is agreed upon by those involved — there IS no civil discourse – it’s already OVER, as the ‘persuasive’ portion of debate is from that point on consists of theatrics to evoke an emotional response in both the participants and the observers at large…. The only thing which remains is, what it IS — ‘entertainment’ to FEED basal human animalistic hubris… Pure and simple. Calling a lamb’s tail a leg doesn’t change the very NATURE of what it IS….

This is why i no longer watch any of it. It devolves into liberal spin and the whole issue gets muddied up and no new facts ever emerge. They call it fair & balanced and i call it b & s. No truth. You will never get the truth from a liberal, it is against everything they believe.

If they can see what happened in real time then they have a video of what exactly happened.

The libs are still lying about this?

It seems at some point long ago, they would see the wisdom of simply admitting that the administration lied for the purposes of Obama remaining viable in his re-election bid.

I think that might sit better with the American People than continueing to lie and digging themselves in deeper

“The Tape” was not an issue until Obama and his minions made it into an International spectical, THEN you saw riots elsewhere.

I think Obama operatives pushed the tape, specifically on 09/11, to gen up reasons to limit free speech, and al Qaeda said – Look at what the stupid Americans are doing. This is a great distraction for our attack on Benghazi today.
