‘He Yelled Allahu Akbar’: Dramatic New Video Features Fort Hood Victims Demanding Shooting Be Classified as Terrorism

Victims of the Fort Hood massacre are calling for the U.S. government to declare it a terrorist attack, releasing a dramatic new video featuring first-person accounts of the 2009 shooting.

The Department of Defense has referred to the shooting rampage at the Texas Army post that left 13 people dead and more than two dozen wounded only as workplace violence. As such, soldiers injured or killed are not eligible for certain combat-related benefits or the Purple Heart.

Members of “The Truth About Fort Hood,” a coalition of about 160 victims and family members, released a 14-minute video Thursday of survivors describing the events of Nov. 5, 2009, including accused shooter Maj. Nidal Hasan shouting “Allahu Akbar” before he allegedly opened fire in a medical building on the base.

“He yelled ‘Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar,’ which is ‘God is great,’ twice,” Sgt. Alonzo Lunsford said in the video. Lunsford was shot five times and lost sight in one eye. “[He] pulled out his weapon in his right hand, fist in palm, turned the lasers on, pointed the weapon at the other soldiers who were sitting there in the chairs and he started discharging his weapon inside the building.”

For Hasan, the shooting “was his jihad,” Lunsford said.

According to WECT-TV, both a congressional investigation and an FBI study have concluded the shooting was a terror act, but without Defense Department recognition, soldiers cannot be given “combat status.”

Staff Sgt. Shawn Manning, who was shot six times, called it “disgraceful” for the government not to recognize soldiers for their sacrifice.

“They were killed and wounded by a domestic enemy, someone who was there that day to kill soldiers to prevent them from deploying. If that’s not an act of war or an act of terrorism I don’t know what is,” Manning said in the video.

Congressmen John Carter (R-Texas) and Michael McCaul (R-Texas) sent a letter earlier this month to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta calling on him to recognize the shooting as terrorism and to issue a full apology to the victims and their families.

“[T]he evidence demonstrates that the Fort Hood attack was both predictable and preventable, and that [the Department of Defense] and the Army bear partial responsibility in this matter,” the letter stated. “The soldiers and civilian victims of Fort Hood should not have been sacrificed then, and should not be ignored or mistreated now, because of a misplaced and inappropriate practice of political correctness.”

Hasan’s case has been on holding pending an ongoing legal battle over his beard, which violates Army standards. Hasan’s attorneys maintain the beard is a religious symbol and to forcibly shave him would violate his rights. A military court ruled Thursday Hasan must shave.

    Is there really ANY DOUBT in any American’s mind that this was a terror attack against our un-armed military men and women by a radical Islamic jihadist????? I mean, come on, only a stupid person would try to justify and call it otherwise, or a person who has something politically to gain from downplaying it to a workplace violence classification. This president is an admitted muslim by his own mouth and actions. So, given his brainwashing by his Islamic teachings, of course he’s going to say it was only workplace violence. America, it’s time to make your voices heard and take a stand for our American men and women in our armed forces….. Their good names are being demeaned and smeared by this administration. Contact your congressmen/congresswomen and demand that this, the shooting of the US Army Recruiter and anything else where admitted muslims kill innocent Americans be classified as TERROR ATTACKS against Americans, because that’s exactly what they are “terrorist attacks by muslim jihadist”….. And don’t stop until they have made the proclamation to the public… Do it NOW, for your sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, friends and neighbors serving in the Armed Forces of America in defense of YOUR and MY freedoms. I did… and We OWE them at the very least, that much. Then after that VOTE this muslim traitor and his entire administration out of our government.

      Right after 9-11-2001 I was taking my friend, an ex combat fighter pilot from the Korean War, to TIA for his flight and there were National Guard with rifles all over. My friend went up to one and asked if his rifle was loaded. The guy just kept saying “move along sir” and my friend, who wanted an answer, just kept on asking. Finally, the guy looked around, leaned over and quietly said, “blanks”.

      Yep, military personnel with blanks or no bullets at all. What a joke…..

      This Hasan guy should have looked like Swiss cheese after the first shot.

      When I was in the Army I was in Viet Nam in 1966 and had a Guard Duty assignment at the local port (Cam Rahn Bay). When it came time to go to our post they instructed us to get our weapons and gear. One item that I found not among our equipment was no LIVE ammunition! I assumed we would receive an allotment at our Post. Wrong, they put us on duty with EMPTY weapons, not even blanks!!!

      Problem is that the Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces is a Muslim, a proved foreign citizen, and the one who defined the Fort Hood murdering spree by his brother in Islam, as a “Working Place ACCIDENT”, in order to protect the murderer from being judged as a TERRORIST, leaving the victims and their families unprotected, while the assassin is being paid and cared for. The man who invented the ACCIDENT and who is not above the law to do so, also invented the HUMANITARIAN WAR, against an innocent nation, Libya, where more than 100 thousand innocent victims died, a crime against humanity that is being slowly proved.     I read this on theBlaze.com, not the New York Times? Mr. Manning could not have said it better, and I hope this gets much more than a passing note, when Mr. Obama brags about “spoiler alerts”?

The president should be ashamed of him self for saying this, and should apoligise for calling it what he did!     This is another SHAMEFUL example of how this Administration is doing its best to misled the American people into thinking the War on Terror is over! Obama CAN’T admit that Fort Hood was a terrorist attack without admitting that there are terrorists in our midst and, at the same time, that his Administration failed to identify the threat in advance and take appropriate action to prevent it from happening. This is the SAME reason Obama tried (and failed!) to downplay the Libya tragedy and blame it on a stupid U-Tube video.

    If Obama spent HALF as much time actually fighting terrorists as he spends trying to prop-up his failing narrative that the War on Terror is over Americans would be MUCH safer! Instead, the danger increases while the President smoozes with Letterman and The View and tries his best to deceive the American people so that they’ll elect him to another term.

    My heart goes out to the victims of the Fort Hood TERRORIST ATTACK! America is WITH you, even though your Commander-in-Chief isn’t!

    I think the administration needs to learn what is and isn’t terrorism!!
    Now these men and women can not get combat compensation because it was only “work place violence”.
    The media went crazy for the shooter in Aurora, Colorado. Why won’t the main stream media cover this!

    The men and women wounded and killed were attacked by an avowed enemy. If this was done in Iraq or Afghanistan, no question about combat status. To not declare this as part of the “asymetrical” war on terrorism is to demean the value of the lives impacted.

    Panetta was a soldier. He should know and hold dear Duty, Honor, Country.
