‘He Yelled Allahu Akbar’: Dramatic New Video Features Fort Hood Victims Demanding Shooting Be Classified as Terrorism

Victims of the Fort Hood massacre are calling for the U.S. government to declare it a terrorist attack, releasing a dramatic new video featuring first-person accounts of the 2009 shooting.

The Department of Defense has referred to the shooting rampage at the Texas Army post that left 13 people dead and more than two dozen wounded only as workplace violence. As such, soldiers injured or killed are not eligible for certain combat-related benefits or the Purple Heart.

Members of “The Truth About Fort Hood,” a coalition of about 160 victims and family members, released a 14-minute video Thursday of survivors describing the events of Nov. 5, 2009, including accused shooter Maj. Nidal Hasan shouting “Allahu Akbar” before he allegedly opened fire in a medical building on the base.

“He yelled ‘Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar,’ which is ‘God is great,’ twice,” Sgt. Alonzo Lunsford said in the video. Lunsford was shot five times and lost sight in one eye. “[He] pulled out his weapon in his right hand, fist in palm, turned the lasers on, pointed the weapon at the other soldiers who were sitting there in the chairs and he started discharging his weapon inside the building.”

For Hasan, the shooting “was his jihad,” Lunsford said.

According to WECT-TV, both a congressional investigation and an FBI study have concluded the shooting was a terror act, but without Defense Department recognition, soldiers cannot be given “combat status.”

Staff Sgt. Shawn Manning, who was shot six times, called it “disgraceful” for the government not to recognize soldiers for their sacrifice.

“They were killed and wounded by a domestic enemy, someone who was there that day to kill soldiers to prevent them from deploying. If that’s not an act of war or an act of terrorism I don’t know what is,” Manning said in the video.

Congressmen John Carter (R-Texas) and Michael McCaul (R-Texas) sent a letter earlier this month to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta calling on him to recognize the shooting as terrorism and to issue a full apology to the victims and their families.

“[T]he evidence demonstrates that the Fort Hood attack was both predictable and preventable, and that [the Department of Defense] and the Army bear partial responsibility in this matter,” the letter stated. “The soldiers and civilian victims of Fort Hood should not have been sacrificed then, and should not be ignored or mistreated now, because of a misplaced and inappropriate practice of political correctness.”

Hasan’s case has been on holding pending an ongoing legal battle over his beard, which violates Army standards. Hasan’s attorneys maintain the beard is a religious symbol and to forcibly shave him would violate his rights. A military court ruled Thursday Hasan must shave.

There is no doubt this was terrorism but thats not why the victims want it classified that way. If it is classified as an act of terror their disabilitiy ratings can be raised to 100%, they can qualify for the Purple Heart, and the list of entitlments becomes way more comprehensive. Way way more comprehensive.
I worked for 2 years at the Warrior Transition Battalion at Ft. Lewis.
The game is to get as much as you can whether you earned it or not. I saw soldiers come in to get fixed with one or two injuries(non-combat related). After talking to the barracks lawyers and dog robbers, they started claiming all kinds of things. A lot of them are drawing a full army pay check and ssi benefits because the are not doing their army job. Do you understand? They are drawing full pay and benefits while they heal and are getting full ssi disability concurrently.
Oh the stories of fraud I could tell.

I don’t know what the problem is. He is still in the Army & beards are not allowed. Tell the MPs to shave him, put him in uniform & his trial starts at 0800 Monday. PERIOD. Tell his attorney & the prosecutor that they both will be prepared & that’s it. Try him, find him guilty & execute him!! Work place violence my A..! He is a muslim ******* terrorist.

My un published comments were about Obama´s definition of the FORT HOOD murderer´s shooting spree, that caused around 50 victims THREE YEARS AGO, as being a “Working Place Accident”- C´m on, a guy who shoot that quantity of un armed buddies, while yelling “Allahu Akbar”, an ACCIDENT? He didn´t shoot more because a policewoman shot him and he still was capable of shooting her in return. An accident, that left the victims and their relatives un protected, because of HIS definition, while he is no judge and his definition should not have been taken into account. Same as the more than 100 thousand innocent victims of his also invented and ILLEGAL “HUMANITARIAN WAR” against Libya, where thousands are really getting jailed and murdered today, without anyone worrying or defending the population.

The ONLY people who don’t believe that what Hasan did was Mslm terrorism carried out by a Mslm terrorist are Glorious Leader, his sycophants, and various other progresso-commie fools. Hasan needs to get a totally fair court martial then be taken out and hung. IMMEDIATELY! A firing squad would be a suitable alternative, if we could find some soldiers who were lousy enough shots.

You can thank Bill Clinton for disarming our military stateside. Before him, every person in that room would have had at least a sidearm strapped on. The outcome would have been Maj Hassan going down before the report of the first shot from his weapon died.

What does it take to get the number of people murdered by this islamic terrorist at fort hood? One of the young soldiers was 7 months pregnant and that baby was murdered along with her baby. Texas has laws on the book that would enable this terrorist to be charged for that baby’s death. I wholeheartedly believe that eric holder and his boss barack hussein obama are behind this injustice. Makes me sick to my stomach.

So let me get this straight, the whole time hes in the military, he has no problem with his religious beliefs by not being allowed to have a beard. But, once he decided to become a (work place violater )Domestic Terrorist he all of a sudden has a problem with the ARMY’S policies. This was not workplace violence. This political correctness is not making our country safer. I wrote my congressman, my senators, everyone I could think of. I even wrote to Governor Romney, because if he becomes our next president, maybe he will be the one to finally help the victims and their families, the ones who sacrificed so much for our country, put political correctness aside, and change this – call it what it was – terrorism.

There were warning signs everywhere, before Hasan murdered these people, but the Government just ignored it. I truly believe he was given a free pass, just because he was Muslim.

Why are our military personnel not allowed to carry weapons on base? This needs to be changed. Those victims were sitting ducks.
If our soldiers had been armed, Hasan would have never even attempted this attack. Radical Muslims are cowards.
