Australian Radio Commentator Alan Jones to Take Factual Accuracy Training for Global Warming Comments

Australian radio commentator Alan Jones has been ordered to undergo “factual accuracy” training over his remarks denigrating man-made global warming, local media relates.

Jones apparently said Australians produce just “1 per cent of .001 per cent of carbon dioxide in the air,” and that “nature produces nearly all the carbon dioxide.”

But, the Sydney Morning Herald continues:

University of Melbourne climate change scientist David Karoly said Australians were in fact responsible for .45 per cent of total carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. ”Obviously, we would much rather prefer that the comments of people like Alan Jones and Andrew Bolt were, in fact, correct, so it is pleasing to get this ruling from [the Australian Communications and Media Authority],” Dr Karoly said.

The radio station told ACMA Jones’ claims should have been taken as commentary…But the authority said any ”ordinary, reasonable listener” would have taken his claims to be fact. [Emphasis added]

The radio’s news and current affairs staff will also be participating in the training, and while Jones has apologized for his remarks, he still seems pretty defiant.

Questioning whether this is ”another chapter in the campaign of punishment for anyone who dares challenge the prevailing Government ideology of global warming,” Jones says his program is “fastidious” about getting their facts right, and certainly apologizes for misquoting the reported amount of carbon dioxide emitted by Australians.

However, while many of the man’s detractors are celebrating the news, others are calling it “scary.”

Nigel Milan, a former chief executive with the radio station, explained:

“Are we to assume Alan Jones’s listeners (and there are a lot of them) have but one source of information?…With the power of social media campaigns and the strongest libel laws in the country, do we really need the Australian Communications and Media Authority and the federal government to protect us? I think not. Indeed, whatever you think of Jones’s views, surely the thought of a government-controlled media is more scary.” [Emphasis added]

  TRANSLATION: We hope you come to see things “our way” in this training session or maybe next time you could use a beating or possibly a gun to the side of the head instead of……..what was it?……..ohhh yes, “factual accuracy” training. I really feel for this guy. His training involves getting just one question right.
  
  Question 1: Are you going to regurgitate the stats we give you on global warming on your radio station? Yes or No (insert knife to throat here). If yes….student passes “factual accuracy” training with flying colors.
  
  If answer to the above question is no. REPEAT Question 1. If student responds negatively, try using a gun to side of head and REPEAT Question 1 only one more time. If answer remains no, it could get ugly.
  
  This is a simple way of rounding up people who disagree with you on any topic. Statistics can be manipulated either way to support any opinion. “Factual Accuracy” training is simply the term the group in charge uses to force others to “see it their way.”
  
  Only an ignorant people would allow this to happen to their countrymen.

  “RE-education camp” Perhaps after the election, we can send a delegate of Washingtonians Of DC. Based on their resent inability to produce a budget, fuzzy unemployment numbers, false Obamacare costs, and several other mathematical issues, it might do them some good. Btw you can keep Joe and O, they will both be needing a new country.
  
  A possible explanation: Perhaps, the gentleman subtracted the oxygen produced by Australian plant life from the amount of co2, or some other type of scientific formula vs global warming fantasy truthers.
  
  This is a terrible question but I got to ask:
  
  What does a suicidal global warming terrorist do to make their point?
  
  Lock themselves in their garage and turn on the ignition.
  
  Now seriously, Iran, Russia, Korea, Syria, Libya, China, Pakistan, etc.. and defensively, Israel talking nukes, dirty bombs, chemical bombs, etc….and you are going to stay stuck and prosecute a radio guy? I’m really confused. The window in my living room faces East. 6 months ago the Sun was rising in one corner of the window and now it’s rising in the other corner of the window. It’s really scary!

And just 3 weeks ago we were running the air-conditioner and the last 2 weeks it stopped running! It got so much colder. I tried to turn the air-conditioner off but it just kept getting colder. What the hell is happening? I had to find a blanket last night to stay warm.

Can some of you liberal, progressive, climate people please reassure me that I’m not going out of my mind?

Please help,

  Ok. First try to remain calm. What you are experiencing is a little known phenomenon called global warming. It can be confusing to stupid folks that think its getting colder when it’s actually getting warmer. I have just broken the seal on my emergency copy of Al Gores new book. Here are the five things Al advises.
  1) Build a wind turbine. It may be extremely expensive and impractical, but at the same time it will really piss off those annoying conservative neighbors.
  2) eat fewer proceeded foods, like road kill & for gods sake, only use candles made from bee’s wax.
  3) eat organic crap or some such nonsense
  4) switch light bulbs and get new windows, or better yet become Amish and grow a beard.
  5) kill all climate change skeptics and have a goregasim while watching An Inconvenient Truth on a loop.
  Remember winter is the new summer, cold is hot. And everything once considered a heathy debate is blasphemy to the new religion. Stay thirsty, my friend!

I watched a DVD 3 years ago called,” The Great Global Warming Swindle,” by many scientists .I would say Jones has hit the nail on the head, OUCH!

  The problem began with the Whitlam socialist government back in the 70s, just prior to introduction of politic correctness indoctrination at school science class with “greenhouse effect” and “fossil fuels” limits. According to my school notes (I still have some of my written notebooks from 1983 – don’t ask, I don’t know why?) earth should have run out of fossil (gasoline/oil/etc) fuels as of early 2000s. Then they called it ‘Global Warming’, but there was cold spell which did not comply with the original ‘idea’. With that, like the weather, they changed it to ‘Climate Change’ – less definitive. Trivia: In the north of Australia particularly on east coast side, in “tropics” of far north Queensland, it is still called the… tropics.
  Then later the PC indoctrination became law, post 911 New York WTC/ Bali October 22 2002 Islamic TERRORIST attacks, with Racial and Religious Vilification Bill, as media/government had reported lie of hatred/violence had been incited upon muslim ‘migrants’, who were becoming a more noticeable and louder ‘minority’. R&R VB are broad terms, which now include anything unwise that people may wisely disagree with (be it islam/jihad; gays; greenie (new religion) etc. “Offenders” are subject to fines and/or imprisonment, public/private ridicule/humiliation, or in Mr Jones’ case “factual accuracy” education. A term I had not heard before (except in history class re nazis/communists). Shocking but not surprising.

Anybody want to remind the braintrust that as of the latest readings, temperatures have not changed in the last 16 years and it appears they go through the same 16 year cycle over and over and in the last 150 years the temperature apparently has changed a… now you’re ready right? 3/4 of a degree — celcius no less… oh my God, the earth is going to burst into flames!!!

  yeah, I was told by a friend of a friend who’s uncle is a climatologist a little known fact that the way they determine which carbon molecules in the atmosphere come from which country is that when you look at them under a microscope they actually sport image of the flag of the offending nation right there on their surface.   Almost every interglacial had a slight peak just before the temps nosedive. An average interglacial lasts about 11,000 years, and is 2-3 degrees celsius warmer than ours. Our interglacial (holocene) is about 12,500 years already. Even if we spewed CO2 into air thrice as much, it won’t help any–the next glacial (cca 90,000 years) is coming, the only question is when exactly.

  We both know they can’t but the warmer cultists will continue their fraud no matter how much their so called science is proven to be agenda driven junk science,a fraud perpetrated on a global scale.
