Former White House green jobs czar Van Jones on Sunday called President Barack Obama a “towering figure on foreign policy” — someone who has both a Nobel Peace Prize and took out Osama bin Laden.

Jones was defending the administration against accusations of being evasive about the terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya and suggested Republicans were going after Obama because of the weight he carries on the international stage.

“President Obama is a towering figure on foreign policy,” Jones said during the panel discussion on ABC’s “This Week.” “You’ve got somebody with a Nobel Peace Prize and he killed Bin Laden.”

Pointing to Iran as an example, Jones said there are “three ways to go”: “Number one, you can have the weak strategy, go on your own. Number two, you can have the reckless strategy, try to be a saber rattler on your own, or number [three] you can get the whole world on your side.”

“[Republican challenger Mitt] Romney has doubled down on weak and reckless, Obama has pulled the world together, he is a towering figure,” Jones said.

      Towering figure ? I’d have to equate this Admins FP stance to Irwin Allen’s “Towering Inferno” from the 70′s film as an apt metaphor as to it’s success this past term…..it’s a firey,deadly, unholy mess, period.

      Slap the Left….. I’d have to say Jones is a Communist masquerading as a State Capitalist (the term China uses to describe it’s version of Central planning). Jones is an arrogant dangerous idiot ideologue of titanic proportions that is fully onboard with the most radical aspects of the leftist movement in N America. He has had far more impact on this Admin that they would care to admit. Remember Jarrett herself was delighted with Obama’s decision to bring Jones into the WH inner circle (from the get go) as his “Green Jobs” Czar. Also do not forget that the Apollo Group (headed up by Van Jones) had written (in advance) the Stimulus Bill…….Jones has had a large impact on the early days of the Obama/Jarrett Admin….I would say for an unelected official he has had far too much influence. It is clear that this admins thinking is closer or inline with Jones core beliefs rather than what they claimed at the time of Jones leaving the Admin (after being outed as a Red and forced out).       Obama was GIVEN the Nobel Peace Prize. He did nothing whatsoever to deserve it. It was akin to giving the entire losing little league team trophys just for showing up.

      Osama is dead, not because of Obama, but in spite of him. He called off missions to get Osama in Jan, Feb. and March of 2011. He was not even informed of the May 2011 raid (in which Osama was killed) until the helicopters were already in Pakistani airspace.

And the Bin Laden thing, well I don’t remember where I saw it but there was something out about how Hillary organized most of it and the pres wasn’t told until they were in Pakistani Airspace. I do not know if that is true and do not put a lot of weight behind it, but it makes you think. We all know his foreign policy sucks.

      The only way “towering” should be used in conjunction with Barry, is in the sentence:
      Obama is a “towering” failure of a President. And the Seals got OBL+Bush’s policies+ a chip being cashed in for Barry. And what did happen to those Navy Seals that GOT OBL?

      Bush’s policies and “torture” tactics got many terrorists in his Presidency and it gave the Obama administration the ability to get Osama.After a few rounds of golf and being roused from his beauty sleep by Panetta, Obama finally decided to “kill” OBL. Wow, soooo decisive. Obama is worse that Bush. He took credit for the kill while he continues to blame Bush for everything. Romney hasn’t set foot in the WH yet, but after Monday night, we get a broader understanding of what he’s willing to do on foreign policy. Romney is not Bush.He’s smarter, self-made, and yeah, he’s a hell of a wealthy SOB, but so what???     I watched this live this AM and almost choked when he said that!! Greta Van Sustern did a great job keeping a straight face! I wish she would have come back at him with more force though. She could easily have taken him on.

    Yes, he was given an award by a Leftist conglomerate for fancy speeches about ending wars and closing Guantanamo… and then he has utterly failed to live up to his word (thankfully mainly), an award that even the most jaded Centrist scratched their head about AT THE TIME and thought ‘really? why?!’

    And he did not kill Bin Laden… he wants to spike that football every time foreign policy is brought up, but in truth American SEALs punched Bin Laden’s ticket using intel gained by the FORMER President, whose methods to obtain that intel Obama castigated.

    Otherwise Van, your hero has snubbed Britain, ignored France and Germany except to mouth platitudes (see the Nobel note above), has given tax dollars to private companies in Sweeden and to Socialist regimes in South America (to do what he will not let private companies do here), and has utterly refused to even pretend to be amicable with Israel, while cheering for the ‘Arab Spring’ that threatens to bring Sharia into Egypt and Syria and Libya… I won’t even mention Libya. He let the people agitating for freedom in Iran die. He willingly let firearms be ‘walked’ into Mexico assuming it would be Mexican nationals who died in making his case for attacking the Second Amendment…

    No, Van, he is a Towering FAILURE on Foreign Policy… and on Economy, and Domestic Policy. Towering is right… Babelesque…

    Yes – our president won the nobel peace prize.

    That act cheapened the nobel peace prize beyond recognition – they have relegated themselves to “JOKE” status. They destroyed the prize itself. When a BBQ contest gives first place to a McRib sandwhich because of it’s packaging – no one attends that BBQ contest next year. Who a group chooses to award is the only way to catch a glimpse of what the group’s true agenda is. When they gave that prize to obama, I was shocked and wrote them off from that point forward.

    Bin Laden is dead – I salute the president AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO, OVER THE LAST DECADE MADE THAT HAPPEN! (INCLUDING PRESIDENT BUSH)

      1. Does the No-Noble “Peace Prize” and the death of Osama, make Obama a murderer with a phony prize for non-humanity (making the whole argument preposterous in the same sentence)…..or

      2. Does Van Jones’ STILL UNREFUTED communist party pledge make HIM a phony and a liar…..or

      3. Does ABC NEWS now consider FULL FLEDGED COMMUNISTS to be worthy opinions and newsmakers for AMERICAN viewers?…….or….

      4. MOST disturbingly, are ALL THREE TRUE and the US MEDIA needs to be investigated for TREASON and giving aid, comfort, and high salaries to KNOWN SUBVERSIVES and propagandists within the US AND ON THEIR STAFFS?

      If ROMNEY gets into office and starts playing nicey wicey with the MEDIA and refuses to START THE LARGEST INVESTIGATION IN US HISTORY INTO FRAUD, CORRUPTION, THEFT, BRIBERY, KICKBACKS, VIOLATIONS OF FEDERAL S&L AND BANKING REGULATIONS, COLLUSION, JURY TAMPERING and give ISSA all the help he needs to take this administration to court for EVERYTHING they’ve done, we need to plant a BOOT so far up ROMNEY’S behind that he can’t BURP without tasting foot powder!

I firmly believe, even with the valid choice of Romney & Ryan, the next decade will be difficult, on all fronts, and we need to remain strong and united – otherwise Van Jones, and others that believe as he does will reduce American to country envisioned by the Marxist that are firmly established in our government.       Yes, but you must understand strategy. Progressives do a good job setting themselves up.
      They work tirelessly to build depth into their resume’s and credentials.

      Then when you question their actions and motives, their supporters point to the pedigree —–
      “Who are you to question Barry? He’s a distinguished Nobel Laureat & Harvard Grad” etc.
      As if they’re beyond reproach of mere mortals.

      Paul Krugman is a good example of this. The guy is a F’ing monkey with accolades and accomplishments stretched from here to the moon. None of it is worth a roll of toilet paper.
