Graphic Surveillance Vid Shows Firebomb Thrown at Shoppers Causing Man to Catch Fire

Friday night someone threw a Molotov cocktail at a crowd of shoppers outside of a market in Long Beach, Calif. The firebomb landed at one man’s feet causing him to catch fire.

The Long Beach police have now released surveillance video of the crime being committed, for which the attacker is still at large.

The firebomb was thrown at a crowd outside of El Paisano Ranch Market in the 200 block of West Pacific Coast Highway, according to NBC Los Angeles. The weapon missed a woman with a baby stroller, but landed at the feet of a victim who is said to be in his 50s. This man was taken to the hospital and treated for serious burns. NBC Los Angeles reported he is in serious condition after the attack.

The Long Beach Police Department has released the store’s surveillance video in the hopes that it will lead them to the identity of the attacker. The clip shows the bomb exploding and the chaos afterward, which involved the stroller being dragged from the flames, people running way and pulling out their cars, and the man on fire running and then being extinguished by others on the scene. Police have said it does not appear that the victim and attacker had any acquaintance with each other, nor was this a gang related crime. According to NBC Los Angeles, Sgt. Aaron Eaton said the 50-year-old was waiting for his father who was inside the market purchasing food.

“There is no indication at all that they knew each other. There was not a previous altercation,” Eaton said, according to the Long Beach Press-Telegram. “The victim’s just standing there, minding his own business, when he has this object thrown at him.”

The attacker is described as a 20-something man, the Press-Telegram reported. He is not easily seen committing the crime in the video due to the store’s awning but is viewed running away from the scene.

Whoever it was got on fire and ran towards the cars in the outer parking lot. They were blazing. It was the one under the canapy who lit it. Keep stopping the frames and you will see it.

Starting frame 13 she is lighting it. Stop the frames until 30. I do not know if that black looking woman was part of it but she seemed to know what was going down and was running her mouth about something. I think there were 4 or five knowing what was going down.

  WTH are you talking about? It wasn’t a women who lit it..it was a guy..A lady was next to her baby waiting and looks light a cigarette. Then you can see the taller guy in a white shirt just come up and toss the bottle and ran off. In the 2nd angle you see him walk up and light it…

There were people waiting for her. Stop the video in frames. She may have been injured herself. I do not know if that black woman was part of it or not. The woman lit the fire just on the other side of the canapy, it may have blow too quickly, and then she ran towards what may have been her friends but was on fire. I think they were trying to burn the man against the wall.

He catches fire, runs off toward the top of the picture, somebody grabs the shopping cart and runs off, then a fat women runs in and grabs something.

  No one was stealing groceries. That was a woman and she lit the thing herself. That was a baby carriage like object, to me and she lit that thing and threw it against the man leaning against the wall.

At 0.30 into the video stop the video she dropped it right at the figure leaning against the building. She may have caught on fire too.

The heavy black woman/man and another citizen, it appears grabs the baby carriage and had beforehand tried to warn the man leaning against the building, but seemed to know what was coming down and would not get close. Tow citizens grabbed the baby carriage.

She was on the otherside of that canapoy dressed in a red top. She lit it and I think she was going to light up whomever was leaning up against the wall. I do not think she was alone in this.

  I think you are right and what she had was a baby carriage with the equipment in it to use for lighting. She got on fire. Some guys grabbed the baby carriage. I do not know if they were with her, but they pulled that carriage out of there. Maybe just good citizens.

Isn’t it about time we ban these evil glass bottles and rags. They injure, mame and kill so many people. Let’s ban flamable liquids as well since they are needed to “load” this evil weapon. In fact after seeing how it was used I think this was an “assault bottle”. We need a special law to control the use of these.

  I don’t think they will ever admit they were conned, but instead they will blame it on people who happen to be White and racism. It just can’t be about failed policies for them because they’ve been taught in our schools that White people have been the traditional oppressors of people of color all around the world. They will see whats coming as a take back of power from the people of color and it will not sit well as they have an emotional investment here which is the most dangerous thing that could have happened in regards to Obamas election.
