MSNBC Host Calls Out Wasserman Schultz Over Romney Policy Critique: ‘You Just…Said Two Different Things’

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz on Monday was challenged by MSNBC’s Chuck Todd for making seemingly contradictory remarks regarding Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s foreign policy plans (or lack thereof).

“[W]e have to keep our eye on the ball,” Schultz said, referring to the Obama administration’s supposedly even-handed approach to foreign policy. “We have to keep focusing on making sure that we can protect America from those who would do us harm, not the backwoods ‘cowboy justice’ that Mitt Romney would drag us back to.”

“It’s so unclear what Mitt Romney would do differently than President Obama,” she added.

It’s “unclear” what Romney would do differently? Didn’t she just say the GOP candidate would drag us back to “backwoods cowboy justice” (or something)?

Even Todd found her contradictory statements confusing.

“Wait, I’m confused,” Todd said, “you just … said two different things. You said ‘cowboy’ foreign policy and then you said it’s not clear what he would do differently from President Obama. That’s two different things.”

“And that is the nature of Mitt Romney’s focus in foreign policy has been,” was the DNC chairwoman’s somewhat confounding response. “Who knows what, he hasn’t said what he would do differently. He has done a lot of bellicose chest-thumping that leads you to believe that instead of what President Obama — ”

“You think it will be a different foreign policy?” Todd pressed.

“I’m saying I have no idea,” Shultz responded, “because he has not made it clear, he has plenty of opportunity tonight to make it clear what he would do differently than President Obama.”

So, yes, the DNC chairwoman’s critique of the GOP candidate’s foreign policy plan can be summed up as follows: “We’re not sure what the Romney plan is, but it’s probably all ‘cowboy justice’ and stuff.”

Perhaps a little tough to follow but one comment refers to Romney’s criticism of the PRESIDENT’s policy…. that being questioning what he would do differently. The other is a statement of what Romney is likely to do, that is to return us to a policy of either buying or pushing other sovereign countries around. While perhaps a new concept, the US needs to come to terms with countries who might legitimately disagree and refuse to follow policies that are dictated by Washington. The best foreign policy we could announce and embark on would be to focus our energies on investing in the US and leaving the world to fend for itself for a while. We have spent $ billions rebuilding Iraq from a worthless war, while our infrastructure, schools and technical advancements suffer. Let’s remember that the majority of the technical advances, including most computer technology was either directly or indirectly funded by the government. IBM, ATT, EDS all benefited from huge government contracts and technological advances associated with the military and NASA. So they didn’t build it ALL themselves. And much of what they built was driven by government specs and funded by the government.

Just got done arguing with one of my guildies about this very topic. Thank God he is Canadian, and thus is fairly unlikely to vote here. ;) These people–progressives/liberals–have deluded themselves beyond belief!! He kept telling me how cerebral, fair, and peaceful Obama is with other countries. And then turns right around and celebrates the death of “tons” of terrorists everywhere thanks to drone strikes, cruise missiles, and elite teams.

I guarantee that Romney ordering the same strikes will be villified. Our “journalists” are very well paid hypocrites. If Romney uses economic sanctions, they will cry and whine and yell about poverty and suffering and homeless. Obama is messiah, Romney is just a man. Obama cannot err, Romney has romnesia.

90% of their argument is ad hominem, lies, or ad hominem lies! Makes me sick.

JROOKIE: I love it when people say, if we would end the war we could use the money for infrastructure in this country. How do you justify this logic? There’s two different things at play here: A. you’re talking about a defense budget as compared to a general fund. You know, the general fund that LBJ allowed our social security to be included. B. Why is it that there are so many people that think because taxes have been collected that they belong to the government? That’s my money, your money and our kids future in their greedy hands. Just maybe when the war finally comes to an end, we should be able to keep more of our money. OH God!! The horror!!

I don’t think Debbie Wassermann Schultz is lying at all. I think she is genuinely not tuned into reality. She is in an altered state.

By this …I also think that it becomes obvious that the standards for government office or position are not as high as we have been lead or mislead to believe they are. This includes Senators, Congressmen, Supreme Court seats and also the Presidency…..etc etc etc. You can also take this down to the state and local levels.

I also think the standards are dropping rapidly in this arena..across the board. I have been thinking this since back in Jimmy Carter’s time..but the last three presidents have made much of this clear. Debbie Wassermann Schultz also confirms this to be true as well.

This is “MODERN” liberalism, an ideology of demoralization. There is no critical thought, contextual discrimination and reason, all perception and reality is derived from adherence to an ideology. The information is used as an ideological confirmation bias aka anything that confirms the ideology is accepted and all that contradicts rejected.. information is NOT weighed in its context to draw a conclusion. For the “modern” liberal the conclusion is already known.

Simply, “modern” liberalism is a cult like ideology based on lies, deception and deceit with the goal of subverting the individual through a destruction of the process of critical thought, reasoning. and ultimately reality.

      It is collective psychological slavery.

Guess that cowboy ( horrors to a Lefty as it is so very American ! ) style of justice is far different from the so-called social justice of the Obama/ Holder Justice Department. Zimmerman was a classic case of their so-called justice. Trial by media. Trial by witch hunt. And, of course, the NBPP with their night sticks at the polls another classic example….while billboards touting honesty at the polls get banned….Justice ?? Another ” fundamental change” by the Obama Administration…

No one who cares about the truth listens to anything she ever says anyway.

Bingo. I’m surprised she hasn’t been kicked to the curb.

I’ve heard of speed readers, but this is the first time in my life I’ve ever witnessed a speed liar. Cutter can spit out lies faster than Bill Clinton drops his pants in the presence of interns.

It’s the ones who don’t care that we have to worry about. There are so many people out there that have been conditioned into following what one faction or the other says is the truth. If each individual does not do their own research to find the truth, then we’re all doomed and America will just be a footnote in history. Don’t believe what a CNN or a FoxNews says. Don’t believe what a politician says. Don’t believe what your friends or family says, and follow blindly. Research for your self and make your own decision. If that means you vote for Obama, than so be it. If that means you vote for Romney, than so be it. But research and remember this: what sort of country would you like to live in? One where you have freedoms as the Constitution of The United States of America states? Or one where you’re dictated to as to what you will believe, where you will work, what you will eat, what healthcare you will recieve, etc. Each individual American must research to realize what they can live with. Hopefully, each will elect to believe in an America that believes and lives by the Constitution.
      I’ve said my peace.
      Good luck and God Bless.
