The Rev. Phil Snider of Brentwood Christian Church in Springfield, Missouri, is making headlines after a video seemingly showcasing his views on gay rights at a local city council meeting went viral.
During his address on August 13, 2012, Snider warned of the “immorality” inherent in passing Ordinance No. 2012-226, which would add sexual orientation and gender identity to Springfield’s list of non-discrimination rules (read the full ordinance here). But in a surprise turn of events, the speech’s true intention was exposed as Snider concluded his speech: To showcase the supposed bigotry espoused by those who oppose equality.

As the video unfolds, Snider frames gay rights as being opposed to Biblical values. He delivers his message with great passion and fanfare. Interestingly, his argument hinges upon the notion that, by passing protections for homosexuals, his rights — and the rights of other religious people — will be infringed upon.
“Any accurate reading of the Bible should make it clear that gay rights goes against the plain truth of the word of God,” he proclaimed at the hearing. “It’s not that we don’t care about homosexuals, but it’s that our rights will be taken away, and un-Christian views will be forced on us and our children, and we’ll be forced to go against our personal morals.”
But then, the surprise moment happens. The Daily Mail has more:
Then in a shocking twist, he utters the word ‘segregation.’
‘You see the right of segregation,’ he says, pausing to shuffle his notes. ‘The right of segregation,’ he slowly continues, ‘is clearly established by the holy scriptures both by precept and example.’
Faces in the crowd sitting behind Snider look visibly upset and shocked by his mention of segregation.
Seeming confused, Snider apologizes, saying, ‘I’m sorry I’ve brought the wrong notes with me this evening.’
That’s when Snider lets everyone in on his act.
Snider tells the audience that he borrowed his “argument from the wrong century.” Rather than stating his own views on gay rights, the preacher had taken comments from white pastors who supported racial segregation in the 1950s and 1960s. He simply swapped out the words “racial integration” for “gay rights,” thus making the same arguments in an effort to showcase what he sees as bigotry.
The audience, though, should have caught the clue at the beginning of his address that he might be up to something. When Snider commenced his speech, he said, “I stand before you tonight in support of this ordinance.” Of course, those watching quickly forgot these words once he launched into his faux commentary against gay rights.
“I guess the arguments I’ve been hearing around Springfield lately sounded so similar to these that I got them confused,” he said of his pro-segregation quotes, going on to urge the city council to pass the amendments to Springfield’s ordinance.
Watch his speech, below:
On Saturday, the pastor responded to the video going viral and to the intense interest that has followed his speech. He wrote:
The last few hours have been a bit of a whirlwind for me, to say the least. I’m really heartened by all of the emails, Facebook messages, and kind words that I’ve received over the last 24 hours. As I read each one, I don’t see them simply as messages that seek to affirm a particular talk I gave on a particular night in Springfield, MO (as grateful as I am for such affirmations), but rather, I view them as a reflection of the thousands — indeed, the millions — of people who, on a daily basis, are journeying together because we believe that our world can be a better place, a fairer place, a more beautiful place — for all people and not just for some — and we won’t stop calling for a more beautiful world to be born. I’m also grateful for all of the people who have come before us — many whose names history won’t recall — who have allowed us to be where we are now, on whose shoulders we stand. These folks may not be famous — more times than not they are friends or family members who have bravely told their story, often in the face of major consequences. They are the ones who have brought us to this place, and we carry their stories with us as we try to build a a more just world. [...]
A lot of people ask, “How can a pastor who values the Bible take this kind of stance?” Truth be told, there are a bunch of pastors and people of faith across the country who are open and affirming — not in spite of their faith, but precisely because of it.
Read his entire response here.

Oct. 22, 2012 at 1:13pmSo true. Snider seems to be standing with evolving cultural and moral relativism, rather than with biblical teaching.
He’s says he’s grateful for…”indeed, the millions — of people who, on a daily basis, are journeying together because we believe that our world can be a better place, a fairer place, a more beautiful place — for all people and not just for some — and we won’t stop calling for a more beautiful world to be born.”
Beauty? One man’s “beauty” is another man’s perversion.
Snider’s comment sounds more like what John Lennon sang about in that classic utopian-new-age ideal “Hymn” ‘Imagine’ than sound biblical teaching.
One man’s “beauty” is another man’s perversion.

Oct. 22, 2012 at 2:41pmI would seem the good pastor has determined that todays morality is dictated by social acceptance rather than the 2000 years old words of Christ. I think he might want to put down that bible and wrire his own as what he preaching goes against the words of Christ. While Christ didn’t condemn someone on thier faults he also didn’t accept them as moral. His words were no man is without sin but ask for forgiveness and you’ll recieve it. He didn’t say everyone approves it must be right

Oct. 22, 2012 at 4:08pmWhat a messed up Pastor. Being a Christian in a Church you can be any race…. you simply can not be a blatant sinner misleading the Church. Mr Pastor, read 1 Corinthians chapter 5 and tell me what you think. How about Romans chapter 1?
Paul makes it REAL clear in 1 Corinthians 5..”1 Cor. 5:11 (NLT)
What I meant was that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a Christian yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or a drunkard, or a swindler. Don’t even eat with such people.”
See, you missed the mark on that and you just exposed yourself as a flaming liberal. They used to use this lame argument years ago when we came up against them in our school district. If you’re asking Christians to “drop” what God tells them and follow what man threatens them…well, who do you think they’ll listen to? God or man? I’ll trust and follow God. Oh and remember that teachers will be judges MUCH more harsh especially those teachers that twist the word and mislead others.

Oct. 22, 2012 at 4:26pmThere are a bunch of non-Christians posing as Christians — and even, yes, as pastors.
What was it that the Bible said about being wary of posers like this? It says they will become even more prevalent as time goes on.
And speaking of “Christian” churches. There is one “Christian” denomination which is no such thing — the Evangelical Lutheran Church. And there are three well-known members of this tiny denomination — the BTK killer in Kansas, the abortion doctor who would kill babies right up to the day before their due date and James Holmes. What are the odds? Think about it. Those three fine people all members of the same “Christian” denomination. As I said — beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Oct. 22, 2012 at 4:43pmWhen fathers start demanding that their “civil right” to marry their 25 year old daughter be recognized because they’re both in love and they’re are both consenting adults, I want these dispicable “Christians” to be the first in line right there with their fellow perverse cohorts. Who decides what’s immoral? Is incest immoral? Is incest a right? Who decides? Society, nature, the state, one’s community, or individuals? Human passions, desires and emotions do not define laws or rights. Common sense, sanity and reason has obviously escaped the liberal’s mind.
Thomas Jefferson said, “The practice of morality being necessary for the well being of society, He [God] has taken care to impress its precepts so indelibly on our hearts that they shall not be effaced by the subtleties of our brain. We all agree in the obligation of the moral principles of Jesus and nowhere will they be found delivered in greater purity than in His discourses.”
Charles Carroll, signer of the Declaration of Independence, said, “Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure (and) which insures to the good eternal happiness, are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments.”
Don’t forget that our forefathers appealed to the Supreme Judge of the World for the rectitude of their intentions.

Oct. 22, 2012 at 5:16pmI would venture to say almost 100% of the homosexual community would say that they are born this way and that it wasn’t a “chosen lifestyle”. Who am I to say differently? You all can believe the words in a book to tell you differently if you want to, but for my part, I believe we all know in our hearts where our sexual preference lies, and I will believe that what’s in the hearts of my gay and lesbian friends, neighbors, and fellow citizens is as natural, human and God-inspired as what’s in my own heart. Remember Christians, if you believe in the Christian God than you must believe that he exists whether or not the Bible was ever written. If you are a believer, than you must realize that the heart of God exists without the words in the Bible. And, by saying you put more value in the words in the Bible over what God has put in our hearts, you are casting aside the very essence of who God really is. Believe the words in a book, or believe what God has put in your heart. They aren’t always one in the same, and, for my part, I will always look to my heart, especially when deciding how to treat all of God’s creation.

Oct. 22, 2012 at 6:13pmTo DanielMChick,
Let me help you with an understanding about homosexuality. For two men it is an act that is extrememly un-natural in which one man allows his anus to be utilized by the other man as if it is a vag. The fact that the anus is the fecal matter opening designed by God for the express purpose of waste disposal should be your first hint to the homosexual man that his putting of his pen-is there might cause interaction with bacteria, germs, and sicknesses that the body is disposing of. AIDS is a direct result of this un-holy interaction between fecal matter, semen, and lust(sin). The act when spoken of as, I have here is, repulsive to contemplate and those involved in such debauchery should reconsider their foolish hearts and cease and desist from their course of perversion.
Incest, pedophilia, and beastility are equally perverse acts of debauchery. All of these result in debilitating mental illness, venereal-diseases of diverse types, destroyed lives, suicide, self-loathing, and worst of all seperation from God into eternal damnation. God help any pastor who attempts to justify such sin as this Phil Snyder has done…He who scatters the flock is a criminal and a murderer. Jesus reserves special damnation for those fallen pastors who teach such foolish ways of this world. Phil Snyder will burn in hell if he does not repent and recant.

I figured I’d have Scripture quoted back to me regarding my response. Although I’m sure you believe that the Bible was divinely inspired, it still was written by humans with their own self-interests in mind, not God’s. As I said before, God existed long before the Bible was written, spoken, interpreted, etc., and no matter what the Bible says, I believe that what God puts in the hearts of his creation is what the truth is and NO words in a book, divinely inspired or not, can trump that. ALL of God’s creation should be respected just as he made them. When you use words from a book, divinely inspired or not, to justify your actions and words against his creation, you disrespect what God intended for his creation. Who are you to be so righteous as to profess that you understand the heart of God and his intent for his creation? You claim a book tells you so, but if you search long and deep enough, you may be humbled by what is truly in his heart and what he puts in your heart.

Oct. 23, 2012 at 3:15amYou guys are so ill-informed about what the bible, what Jesus actually said.
Grab say a new Jerusalem bible and then an interlinear text and read it what the bible is saying. But you don’t wanna know.
If married to a christian spouse u may separate but never remarry; NEVER. You may not remarry a christian women/man who has divorced a christian (EVER). Jesus say this 3 times explicitly. (Incest, bestiality and prostitution are the only exceptions and only those). 1 Corinthians 7
Jesus doesn’t want you to marry, if possible it allowed to keep u from further sin.
Matthew 19:
10 Jesus’ disciples then said to him, “If this is the case, it is better not to marry!”
11 “Not everyone can accept this statement,” Jesus said. “Only those whom God helps. 12 Some are born as {εὐνοῦχος /eunouchos- a chamberlain, a eunuch, a eunuch, castrated person, or one who voluntarily abstains from marriage.}eunuchs, some have been {εὐνουχίζω/eunouchizó- make .. eunuch, to castrate, live unmarried}made eunuchs by others, and some choose not to marry[Make themselves {εὐνουχίζω/eunouchizó- make .. eunuch, to castrate, live unmarried}enuchs; ] for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. Let anyone accept this who can.”
Matthew 9
Separates unnatural sexual desires, from actions that are “worthy of death” which include the list from 29 on. Homosexuality is allowed to keep u from further sin (same concept as marriage). Odd no.

Oct. 23, 2012 at 4:05pmThe New Jersulamen Bible follows Roman Catholicism. Of course it’s going to say you can’t ever remarry. The OT and NT, contrary to Popish doctrine, doesn’t allow for one that is seperated or put away to remarry. One must first get a Bill of Divorcement before finding another spouse. One can get a divorce and remarry if their marriage is one that was currupt or fraudulent from the start.
“And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.”
Those who are put away are not considered divorced but seperated.
Jesus didn’t say it was better not to marry, but that some, who are able to stay abstinent, should do so. The apostle Paul elaborated on this and said that celebacy was a gift, and not for everyone, and that the reason to stay unmarried was for the purpose of dedicating one’s whole life to God, but that if one could not maintain such a life, IT IS better to get married than to burn.
H-mosexuality was never allowed by Jesus, Moses or God.
“And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them MALE AND FEMALE, And said, FOR THIS CAUSE shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”

Oct. 22, 2012 at 12:26pmThe Bible clearly proclaims that we are all born into sin. Our biggest obstacle may be pornography, alcoholism, a violent temper, or a hundred other things including homosexuality. Jesus Christ died on the cross not only so we would not have to pay for our sin, but also to deliver us from sins power over us. Everyone has the choice to accept the remedy God has provided and to receive a new heart. It is a choice everyone will make to accept or reject and continue in sin. So if homosexuality is not a choice, then neither is any other sin and the pedophile, the murderer, the rapist, you name it is not responsible for their behavior. We should open all the prison doors and let everyone do as sin compels them to do.

When it comes to morality, we are dealing with “oughts” in other words, why OUGHT we do something. Skin color is not an OUGHT, its an IS.
If homosexuality simply “IS” then you should point us to some genetic proof? Secondly, a very simple question:
1-Do you think a pedophile has a choice?
2- OUGHT a pedophile act on his compulsion? [weather he has a choice or not?]

Your right in the way that it may not be your choice to be attracted to the same sex, but it IS a choice to act on it…
We all know that there are people out there that are attracted to little kids or animals, but it’s a CHOICE to act on that.. Just like being homosexual may not be a choice, but behaving like a homosexual IS a choice…
I have no problems with people being homosexual, I DO have a problem with people being treated as “special” because they are homosexual… Your sexual preference is NONE of my business unless it is interfering with my life, once it does IT BECOMES MY BUSINESS… And that seems to be the goal of most Homosexual advocate groups, make it part of everyone’s lives so that the people who ARE homosexual don’t feel offended, while not caring about Heterosexual people’s feelings on the matter…
Is it wrong to judge someone for being homosexual, YES…. But should they be treated with kid gloves because they are?? NO….

Oct. 22, 2012 at 1:58pmHomosexuality is a chosen (or series of choices, much the same as those who rape, molest children, or have sex with animals). While I don’t necessarily support the lifestyle nor undeserved focus on it from either side of the issue. Your premise and statement is both false and ignorant. There is more than enough evidence to suggest that there are physiological differences among a portion of gay individuals. And even those that you reference who chose the lifestyle, they act on that choice with consenting adults who have made the same choice. So an analogy to criminal acts such as rape, child molestation and sex with animals while dramatic is just plain ignorant. You represent what I would term the Belief Entitled. Those that think that what they believe has merit simply because they believe it. And while that unfortunately is the only assumption that can be made regarding religious beliefs, it is not something that can be projected beyond that small world. Beliefs outside of religious beliefs that are not based on facts, scientific evidence or rational analysis are nothing more than projected ignorance. Just because you are passionate about your beliefs doesn’t make them rational or relevant. Particularly when they refer to the individual liberties and rights of other adults. Perhaps you should spend more time reflecting on what you chose to say, rather than limiting others right to chose their own path.

It is a serious of bad choices over time. Homosexuality is a series of choices to that often is very tied to their environmental. Abuse, both mental and sexual, into to perverse lifestyles, drugs, rape…. all of these factor into homosexuality.
Jerry Sandusky is a homosexual. Was he born with an innate desire to have sex with little boys? No, he made the choice on his own, and no he is paying the consequences for that choice, just like the heroin addict will pay for his/her choices.

As of right now there is no evidence of a “gay gene” or anything like that.
I lean towards that we are more a product of our environment than the “I’m born this way or it’s genetic” which I think tends to be a big excuse these days with many things. A lot of the times people will say “well I’m pre- disposed to doing this or acting like this” thinking it means they have zero choice in the matter.

Oct. 22, 2012 at 4:08pmHaving homosexual feelings is not a sin by itself, it is the acting on those feelings that makes it a sin. If as a married woman I would find myself having feelings for a man other than my husband I would need to pray for God to help me to not give into temptation and then I would need to get the heck away from the person/situation that is tempting me. We all have temptations in this life, we are all sinful creatures who want to do whatever feels good without stopping and thinking if it is morally or Biblically right. The enemy attacks us all in different ways but that doesn’t make it right. I have never had homosexual feelings so I don’t understand the temptation, but I have been tempted in multiple other ways and it is hard to say no and that is why it can only be done with God’s help. I think all of us Christians need to realize that there are a lot of people out there that are struggling with homosexual feelings and they don’t want to, and we shun them a lot of the time. What we need to do is love them and pray for them and help them because it is only something that can be helped with God’s help.

Skin color is undeniably genetic but to say homosexuality is more than a mere tendency has NEVER been proven and is only espoused by a vast minority of medical professionals. The next question is “is it moral” ? well then you must define morality and THAT presents a problem. The Bible Clearly condemns sodomy and declares it a sin. Just seeing how you judge ethical standards to their relevancy to the Bible, a work of man mind you, speaks volumes. Furthermore, I’m not going to speak to the experience of others; I can only speak to mine and mine is that being gay–my feelings and attractions–are not, and have never been, a choice to me. You can keep the strawmen going all you’d like, at the end of the day, they’re still fallacies.
Just to dispel your ignorance on the issue, the goal of science is not to “prove” or “disprove,” it is merely to observe. That is why religious fanatics are humorous in their attempt to deny the findings of such. Fact is, there have been scientific observations that give credence to a neurological connection between homosexuality and brain construction. >>http://playthink.wordpress.com/2008/06/17/the-gay-brain/<<
Morality is one of the most relativistic studies on this planet. To prescribe morality as essentialistic, as you've done, is laughable and shameful all in one. Please, explain to me, since you made the claim, how can I have no morality if I do not believe in God–my personal beliefs notwithstanding?

I’m not speaking for CRU, but I would like to address a couple things you stated.
“Morality is one of the most relativistic studies on this planet”
I take that to mean you think morality is relative? If so that’s actually an absolute statement. It’s kinda the old joke, someone asks another if they believe morality is relative and they reply “absolutely.” I’m guessing you don’t believe in the Bible therefore would not use that as your standard of morality. That’s fine. However, that doesn’t mean morality is relative. We all still appeal to a universal standard.
“You use your religion as a crutch to bash and hate upon others….”
Sadly, there are many who hate that claim they are Christians. Yes, some do use the Bible to spread hate and their personal agenda. However, simply disagreeing or stating your opinion that it’s a choice or something else is far from hate or being bigoted.
There is a distinction between disagreeing with a loving spirit and hating someone. In fact, Jesus told people many times what they were doing was wrong, though he did it with a loving heart and in kindness.

Oct. 22, 2012 at 6:00pmI was born with a hot temper. I get mad and upset very easily, and quickly. Through Christ, I’ve been able to learn patience, love, respect, peace, longsuffering, unity and joy; to treat my neighbor as I would like to be treated. Sometimes I want to just snap someone’s head off when they’re irritating, aggressive, annoying, yelling, intolerant, haughty, selfish, pushy, stubborn, or greedy, but I know that I must be considerate, honest, and courteous, at all times. I try my best to keep silent, and to let them vent. I turn the other cheeck, and do not act like them, or try to rise my self to be at their level. This is all about discipline, dedication and struggle. I do my best to stay on the right course, and to not lose faith. We’re all born with the tendency to sin, and we’ve all been tempted and will be tempted, but we must endure and do what is right, though it may be the hardest and longest road to take. Like a rebelious kid who since a very young age has without difficulty or a second thought always lied himself out of tough situations, truth will one day eventurally catch up with him, hit him like a rock, and there will be no escaping it when it comes.

Predisposition doesn’t = no choice. Having a predisposition simply means one is more susceptible to something. If I said I had a predisposition to alcoholism it means I would be more likely to become an alcoholic than you would. Not that I’m destined to be one or can’t choose my own path.
Not that the brain chooses, but yes it can change. Look at some people who have been in car accidents and they have suffered brain injuries and their behavior completely changes in some ways; or those who have been abused as children or suffered some sort of traumatic event.
I agree with you we shouldn’t be unfair legally speaking. I don’t think government should define marriage, it’s not their place.
So disagreeing with someone is bigoted now? I’m not using morality. I personally believe it is morally wrong…that’s it. I’m not forcing my morality on you, just disagreeing.

They have found that alcoholics have a genetic predisposition towards alcoholism. Does that mean that it is ok and they shouldn’t try to change, did God make them alcoholics? No, sin in our fallen world did. Bible teaches that many “natural” states and desires are not of God and are contrary to His will. He and only He can help us overcome our temptations.

Oct. 24, 2012 at 6:03pmNobody seems to have knowledge of biology. Things can be inherently immutable and even set from birth without being genetic. If there’s a difference in how a fetus develops compared to most fetuses, it will likely be fixed before birth unless medicine intervenes. And before anyone starts calling being gay a birth defect, being born gay would be much more preferable to being born with a heart defect, especially before modern medicine. If we look at it using science (the same science that came up with cures for congenital heart defects), removing any external negative influences on the person from being gay like bullying leads to a perfectly normal person, just with a slight difference. And we don’t have full knowledge of the human genome yet, so we can’t say it’s not genetic either.
And I love it when people use the “AIDS” argument against being gay. Every time someone does, they’re saying lesbians are better than gay men and straights due to their lower STD rates than either population.

Feb. 19, 2013 at 3:01amTo those who believe that homosexuality is a choice, you clearly have never heard of science or the internet. Look up “the gay gene”. Or, better yet, I can explain how the tendency towards homosexuality occurs. As a woman has more children, especially but not specifically male children, her body becomes more and more resistant to testosterone. The level of resistance varies from person to person, but studies have found this to be a trend, that the later a boy is born in a series of children, the more likely he is to develop homosexual tendencies. I myself have met families where this is he case. As you can see, this study is specifically male based, I know studies have been done regarding lesbian children, but I’m not as clear on those results. Hope this clears up some confusion.

Oct. 22, 2012 at 12:00pmThis issue is not about rights…it is about whoredom and selling everyone down the drain for votes.
In short it is about politics/whoredom for votes.
What the Word/Bible teaches about separation is that Believers are to separate from that which the Word teaches us is mixing leaven with uneven…new wine with olde. The ways and traditions of the world with God’s Word and way.
It says nothing about Race. For all that matter …people are referred to in the Word as Nations..not in the man made tradition by race. Race in the Bible refers to running a race or winning a race..not by the man made belief system. By the man made system of today..Race issues are being used to divide us asunder ..not to unite us. Same with the gay issues. …to divide people..not to unite them.
This issue in its attendant whoredom is being used and manipulate to force people to give up their religious beliefs and follow the world template. by force and coercion if necessary. And the body politic along with it’s shills..the news media, is helping to carry this out on a mostly unawares public…by default.
Following the world template is to follow after the god of this world for those who know how it works.
For there exists no instruction ever..for the Believers to define themselves by their sexuality or sexual orientation….ever. For Believers know this is abomination. For the nations surrounding Ancient Israel were doing this abomination themselves at their holidays and festivals

Oct. 22, 2012 at 11:45amThis is what happens when men do not want one Pope, but think that each man can be his own pope. (This is the essence of Luther.) And what’s with this “shocking” speach garbage? Nothing shocking about this at all. Wouldn’t we expect false “prophets” to do just this, to make bad good, and good bad, to be deceiving?

Oct. 22, 2012 at 12:55pmWhat are you talking about? The Pope is an apostate to those of us who are not catholics. The Pope believes that he has the authority to forgive sins. This is blasphemy. I try not to pick arguments with Catholics because I like and respect them, but if your going to come on here and trash us non-Catholics, I’m going to own you with factual theology. BTW, the Pope says that being a homosexual is not as sin as long as you don’t act on it. Jesus said that lusting in your heart is the same as adultery. Perhaps you should get your Pope to straighten the Lord out on that.

Oct. 22, 2012 at 1:07pmAlso, Peter was married (disqualifying him from becoming a Pope I believe), Jesus had brothers and sisters and Mary did not remain a virgin after Christ was born and she was not sinless as she admitted herself. These are all undisputed facts backed up by history and archaeology as well as the Bible.

Hating homosexuals is not enough for you, must you also attempt to demonstrate your bigotry against Catholics.
Marriage is not a disqualification for being a Pope, especially, in St. Peter’s case where Christ named him to that position, as the rock the church would be built on.
The Catholics believe and the bible supports, that Mary was sinless, she was born with out the stain of original sin (hence the term Immaculate conception). Nor is there any evidence in history or archeology.

Oct. 22, 2012 at 11:44amThe Judgement is coming for sin period! Sin if followed by suffering and repentance, and history repeats itself…..The results are Salvation and Victory…but the suffering will become quite apparent to people who Go against God’s words and commands. Jude 1:7 “Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange, different, or other flesh, are set forth an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” Strange flesh refers to that to which is forbidden by God for us to have, (it is outside the bounds of God’s laws; hence the term sexual deviance means, (to deviate from what is acceptable by God.) It is obvious that people are going to disobey God and learn the hard way…man proves to be a hopeless and stupid throughout history!

You are simply parroting the same mantra by re-framing what rights are. Since when was sexuality a “right”? since when was marriage a right?
Marriage, just like baptism and communion are religous institutions. The problem is when government puts its filthy hands into religious practices and starts to tax them.
Now it simply becomes an issue of fairness. The Gay community now wants “equal marriage” in the name of “equal rights”
Not even considering that marriage was never a right in the first place, anymore then baptism or communion! lol.

Oct. 22, 2012 at 1:00pmExactly, That’s another reason to be AGAINST gay marriage. Currently, gays have the SAME EXACT rights as straight. We can not marry the same sex either. The fact that we don’t want to is irrelevant. For gays to not have equal right, they would have to be classified as a different race of people. So, the burden of proof is on you to prove that. And what race would bisexuals be? You and I both know that is not anatomically true. The DNA of a homosexual is the same as a straight man.
Your argument is illogical. We currently have “equal rights”. What homosexuals want is “special rights”.

Oct. 22, 2012 at 3:30pmAnd we are back to making the same arguments that the Southern bigots used to deny marriage rights to interracial marriages.
Two straight people have the right to marry a person of their choosing, yet because of the back dated religious beliefs of some of Americans, a homosexual couple is denied the same right.

Oct. 22, 2012 at 11:50amTHe gay issue, just like issues of many minorities, is about votes for close elections. It is about votes and only votes from a political standpoint. In this arena the body politic is willing to sell anyone and everyone down the drain to cater to this group for votes.
Certain government groups therefore have a vested interest in keeping these groups in the public eye and see as “Victimized Groups. ” And the media is a willing accomplice in this devout and zealous religion of the body politic for votes.
No one in their right mind …gay or straight both… defines themselves by their sexuality or sexual orientation and then by this phony placebo issue..demands respect and recognition of others …or else. You have to go to public school and get a education in emotional entitlements to get this naturally dumb.
I am not saying that people do not have sex or sexuality..but more importantly …that people are more than sex and sexuality….much much more. When you realize this deep down in your very soul…you then realize that our leaders are deceiving us on this issue for the votes they can get by whoring everyone out to this phony template. Both our leaders and the media are whores and selling all of us short on this phony issue.

Oct. 22, 2012 at 11:59amYou are dead on. I hosted my local Pastor for lunch a couple of weeks ago and asked how he can justify the homosexual activism with the ELCA joining in supporting homosexual pastors and marriage. I have been struggling with turning my eyes from the issue and moving on with business as usual. My Pastor is in his first call after seminary, and he flat out disagrees with the position of the ELCA and homosexuals. He will not take another ELCA job and follows the option of not supporting the ELCA homosexual agenda locally. This position is unacceptable to Christians of Faith, and as active lay minister I have not been in the ELCA church for a couple years. The Bishop of ND brought a gay activist pastor to our church, he left for larger community after he was flaunted his queer(odd) gay lifestyle and became the gay activist of the democratic party and the Bishop continued allowing the man to preach and wear the garb of a Christian.
Sum it up. The bond between a man and woman at marriage cerimony is religious rite, and nothing to do with the laws of man!

Oct. 22, 2012 at 12:15pmWhen I say that our leaders are selling us short on this phony issue of gay rights..I mean both political parties..Republicans and Democrats both. For most of them have college educations and cannot be that naturally and giftedly stupid that they do not realize that an intelligent thinking person never defines themselves by their sexuality or sexual orientation ever.
But an emotional train wreck who believes in Entitlements does exactly this….defines them defines themselves by sexuality or sexual orientation coupled to their “Victim Status.”
They have a vested interest in keeping this type of confusion going…in order to default through.
And both political parties cannot be that dumb that they cannot figure this out for themselves.
What they are is working together against the bulk of Americans on this issue..good cop bad cop and not allowing you to think for yourself.
When you realize the more serious issues facing this nation…jobs, the economy and terrorism….and at the same time watch leadership catering to this issue as something of importance….you begin to question their ability to genuinely lead….all of them. That they are worried about sexuality and sexual orientation….Wow!!!
How do you take someone like that seriously?? I mean both political parties??
I hope by this posting that some of you begin thinking for yourself and reason…not emote.
That is how they put you on their phony puppet strings…they default you without you knowing

There is a pastor who hid his gayness from his congregation for 7 years and had the audacity to say to one of his younger parishoners that because of their age, he felt they’d understand. I know we are to love everyone, love the sinner, hate the sin; but lest we forget, we will be judged according to our inactions too.

Oct. 22, 2012 at 11:21amComparing gay “rights” to civil rights is a false pretense.
Minorities were being denied the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness – all three of the named inalienable rights mentioned in the Declaration of Independence.
What rights are homosexuals being institutionally or effectively denied?
Anyone?
Marriage is not a right. it is a contract. The state reserves the right to regulate contracts in a way the protects the rights of both parties as well as encourages the kind of contracts that benefit society as a whole. Without that contract, all, homosexuals and heterosexuals alike can consort with anyone of their choosing without state intervention. (And even sodomy laws are going away, preserving that real right.)

Just because you happen to subscribe to a belief where an imaginary sky god loves you doesn’t mean you get to say what’s right and wrong. These people are denied marriage rights, visitation rights if their partner is in the hospital, and more! What if in my ancient book written by a different god told me that straight people couldn’t get married?
