Ann Coulter in Tweet: ‘I Highly Approve of Romney’s Decision to Be Kind & Gentle to the Retard’
Conservative commentator and author Ann Coulter is known for her edgy proclamations and oft-times controversial take on the issues. Last night, while commenting about the final presidential debate, Coulter took to Twitter, where she seemingly used a less-than-complimentary word to describe either debate moderator Bob Schieffer or President Barack Obama — “retard.”

The pundit tweeted, ”I highly approve of Romney’s decision to be kind and gentle to the retard.” While she didn’t explicitly name the individual being targeted, based on the factors at play, one can only assume that it was either Obama or Schieffer.
As of Tuesday morning, the social media message had been re-tweeted (shared) 2,506 times and it was selected as a favorite message by 1,018 people.

In an article highlighting and deriding the controversial message, Mediaite’s Tommy Christopher wrote that Coulter, “crossed lines of decency untrod even by her standards.”
Politicker also noted that this isn’t the first time the commentator has come under fire for using the word, which many advocates view as an offensive term to people with special needs. A few weeks ago, Dan Niblock, a father of a child with Down syndrome, penned an article on NBC’s “Today” web site, demanding an apology for Coulter’s use of the word in a separate tweet.
“I want Ann Coulter to apologize for using a form of hate speech that is particularly searing to people who have special needs,” Niblock said. “This isn’t about Republicans versus Democrats, it’s about having class and a little decency.”
What do you think about Coulter’s use of the term? Let us know in the comments section.

I have seen zero evidence over the past 4 years to suggest that Coulter was wrong in her assessment of Obama’s mental capacity.

ME…. er… my administration.” and he is a bozo… I used to be able to endure his face for a few microseconds watching his daily encounter with the television camera as he spoke nonsense and uttered fabrications – be it on the view proclaiming he is eye-candy, or in the rose garden saying, “terrorist act that was 9/11″and that video he told the UN caused all the Benghazi madness… but no more. I just can’t listen to his lies or bear watching his mediocre curious George imitation – not even for one nanosecond. Obama is washed up.

I see what you’re saying. My question is how is this any different from some of the incredibly crass, classless and hateful things pundits on the left have said about the right, and doubled down on it as well? The only difference is that this was said about the POTUS. Some would argue that the office deserves more respect than that, others would say it doesn’t.
As I look at the posts here the majority of statements are along the lines of “PC’ness has neutered our language and culture.” To that I would completely agree. Nobody can do or say anything without the anxiety of potentially offending somebody. It’s a field day for lawyers and activists only.
Lastly, why are you here? What else did you expect? Did you really come to a conservative news site and expect to see people condemning Ann Coulter, or people supporting the POTUS? No you didn’t. It’s as foolhardy as me going to an MSNBC blog and expecting to see them supporting Romney.

Ann: there’s no excuse for someone with your intelligence and vocabulary using epithets where you have access to a hundred more descriptive terms to convey your point. It harms our cause when you give the Left more ammo to discredit our ideas just because of your lack of controlling your mouth.
And now for context: Ann IS the reigning expert on the left’s tactics, which INCLUDE name-calling as a MATTER OF COURSE, and actually doesn’t believe the President’s IQ falls into handicapped range, but rather is playing rope-a-dope with the media who will demonstrate their hypocrisy by seizing on her word-choice while systematically ignoring that of any of the many leftist name-callers out there whose vileness dwarfs her own.

Posted on October 24, 2012 at 2:52pmWell than let’s do that. It is SAD to see Ann Coulter thrash around in an attempt to gain a degree of relevance. She is the writer equivalent of the stripper who claims to be a dancer and the porno queen who thinks they are an actress. Usually when she shares her unique brand of trailer park commentary it is to gain attention in order to promote another worthless book. Fortunately for her there is a Network that accepts and promotes her pitiful level of professionalism and class. For those who claim she is being sarcastic the adage of lying with dogs brings you fleas applies. Ann is who she presents herself to be. The obnoxious girl in class who waves her hand and acts out to get attention. She is a member of a group of TV, radio and commentators who realize you can make a ton of money supply slanted comment to the Belief Entitled. And rarely does this group place much importance on facts, the truth, professionalism or civility. They recognize all too well that the Belief Entitled want to hear and read stories in a biased manner that reflect and reinforce those beliefs. Journalistic integrity, scientific findings, rational analysis are neither desired or required. If you want to see a stark example of the de-evolution of the human species, particularly with regard to rational thought, Ann is a good place to start.

Ann Coulter is to the far right what Bill Maher is to the far left: funny for those with a chip on their shoulder and who enjoy kindergarten humor. Posted on October 23, 2012 at 7:49amthe name calling is out of hand (from both sides). you read it in the news, you read on blogs and it really comes across as childish.
you can dislike and disagree with someone all you want, but lets leave the name calling on the playground!!

Seems like Obama has retarded America, so why shouldn’t she call him our “******-In-Chief”?

Posted on October 23, 2012 at 7:53amWhats wrong with it is that name calling is a tactic of the left, and as a father of a special needs child I didnt think those were the ideal words. That being said I still love what Ann has to say and I love her books.

Posted on October 23, 2012 at 7:46amI see no problem here. My generation grew up using the word ****** and since people are no longer considered retarded it insults no one. Glad to see she didn’t get all pc. Way to go Ann.

Posted on October 23, 2012 at 8:04amAwww gee, not happy with that Freedom Of Speech thing? Oh, only when it is you who wants to speak. Why didn’t you just do what ENCINOM does and scream “Hate Speech” and point out the fact that Ann is not PC? Yeah, every time somebody somebody tosses around Hate Speech, it just means they are striking out against Free Speech. The First Amendment does protect speech that is perceived by some as offensive.

Posted on October 23, 2012 at 8:06amYa know, if the right wasn’t falling over themselves to look offended over a word, Puff our chests and show how “sensitive” we are, this would have fallen into the Twitter Memory Hole.
The left loves when we eat our own. Okay, poor choice of words, but Ann is still brilliant.
And she was just quoting Rahm Emanuel.

Posted on October 23, 2012 at 7:41amSomehow I think Ms. Coulter is giving too much credence to Mr. Soetoro.
Many mentally challenged individuals hold viable jobs in the private sector in low responsibility positions. Barry never even had that kind of job experience.
