Did Obama Supporters Really Misspell ‘Forward’ on Their T-Shirts?

Perhaps because they don’t have a stellar track record, Twitter is exploding with the news that at least two Obama supporters misspelled the new campaign slogan, “Forward,” on their t-shirts.

“Spelling is hard,” a number of Twitter users wrote sarcastically after seeing “Foward” emblazoned on the blue garments at an Ohio Biden rally.

“Even Big Bird knows how to spell ‘forward,’” another joked, bringing up the recent debate over public funding for Sesame Street.

Here is a photo of the shirts:

So what’s the catch?  There is undeniably a large “r” missing from the word “forward,” and video from the event shows the same thing.

Apparently, the “o” in “Foward” has a circle with an arrow, pointing to a previous “r.”

Here’s how it looks up close (pardon the angle):

Everyone is guilty of misspelling now and then, but it gets more attention when the error makes it to a t-shirt in the front row of a campaign speech by the vice president.

But in this case, it seems, the ladies have been vindicated.

Obama and Biden are the male versions of Thelma and Louise. They all put the car in “D” and went forward… right off of the cliff. Sometimes the “R” is the correct choice.

When I was in my very early twenties, my husband and I bought our first house. This was in the days before personal computers and spell check. The entire contract was produced by way of an electric typewriter, and the typist consistently typed the word “wife” as “wif”. We both had years of fun that I was a “wif” instead of a “wife”

DIANE TX, Now, that is funny, “wif.” I can’t say much here because of my typos. I certainly make plenty. Its odd to me though. I made far, far fewer mistakes with the old IBM Selectrics many years ago than I do these days with a computer.

They made that t-shirt on purpose so they could laugh at the people wearing them? I’m fo being a ward of the state, join us together? Re-elect President Obama, you will be a ward of the state too?

No thank you, just do your job as a politician, we don’t want food stamps, we don’t want free health care, we want employers to be able to pay us enough money so that we can afford to buy our own food, reward the insurance companies we believe in and buy our own policies, and plan for our retirements in spite of a minimum wage economy below the poverty level, and prevent the manipulation of our currency with unfair taxes or regulations, fear mongering about clean energy, picking winners and creating failures in the private sector, rewarding bad teachers, or hiring government workers we don’t need?

Relax people. It was intentionally spelled wrong to grab attention. It would appear that their gramatical skills are not in question. Why, I’d wager that they can also spell marxism, communism, sharia law and other common words and phrases of the Obamanation. Just goes to show that not all Obama supporters are complete idiots, some are plain old garden variety common idiots, or as I like to call them “Domesticus Ignoramis”

Yes, the “r” was missing, but for Obuma and his supporters the “r” goes in front of the “o” …

    Froward:
    1. habitually disposed to disobedience and opposition
    2. archaic : adverse

      Hello Raging_Waters….

Sadly, you and I are thinking alike. I wanted to post it also but decided to reply to a like minded individual, ;-). There’s an “r” missing and you have it right, FROWARD is the word they should be putting on their t-shirts. Thanks for your post.

      Froward defined below…

FRO’WARD, a. [L. versus: turned or looking from.]

Perverse, that is, turning from, with aversion or reluctance; not willing to yield or comply with what is required; unyielding; ungovernable; refractory; disobedient; peevish; as a froward child.

They are a very froward generation, children in whom is no fairness.

Not willing to yield or comply with what is reasonable; stubborn; contrary.

      Have a blessed day.

Either way, “Forward” or “Foward” is an argument for voting Romney, not staying in the same rut as the last four years. They really should have thought their slogan through better.

is that arrow supposed to trap men into the old ‘my eyes are up here’ comment? at least, i think there is an arrow like a peyrone masculine symbol leading to ‘Re-elect….’ drivel. as i started to look, mercifully i was rendered (temporarily, i hope) blind.

Wow, I’m glad somebody explained that to me, for a minute there, I thought it meant “fo wards of the state” as in “pro being a ward of the state” instead of your own free will, fair taxes, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for the unborn?

I always sometimes get confused with dog whistle language and American slang, don’t you? Don’t worry, Glenn Beck will make sure you stay on top of things?

Well, problem is that you cannot edit when you are inside the typing box on the site and most spell checking is inoperable. What I do when I really want to make sure one of my diatribes comes across and the spell-nazis are unable to pick the grammer apart, is to use my text editor, spell check, and then cut and paste. Advantage of this is that ALL of my posts here are preserved, including the ones which the Censors have not permitted. It will all be in my book one day. (N.B.: Let’s see if the word N a z i is allowed or is bleeped.
