Famed Singer Kelly Clarkson Switches Vote From Libertarian Ron Paul to Obama… Because He’s a ‘Great Guy’

Famed Singer Kelly Clarkson Switches Vote From Libertarian Ron Paul to Obama Because Hes a Great Guy

American singer and songwriter Kelly Clarkson says she plans to vote for President Barack Obama in November partly because he is a “great guy,” making a seemingly drastic swing after originally supporting the very Libertarian Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) for president.

Though she calls herself a “Republican at heart,” the singer and native Texan told the Daily Star that she has been “reading online about the debates” and what she has discovered has apparently made her an Obama supporter.

“I’m probably going to vote for Obama again…I can’t support Romney’s policies as I have a lot of gay friends and I don’t think it’s fair they can’t get married,” Clarkson said.

In addition to her support for gay marriage, Clarkson also bought into the Obama campaign’s narrative that Romney is waging a “war on women,” saying “I’m not a hardcore feminist but we can’t be going back to the ’50s.”

She later added, “Obama is a great guy. I’ve met him and I’m a fan of Michelle, too.”

In December 2011, Clarkson somehow ignited controversy by simply voicing her support for Paul.

“I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he’s got my vote. Too bad he probably won’t,” Clarkson said on Twitter.

Some of the pop singer’s followers accused Paul of being racist and homophobic, referencing newsletters that were sent out using his name in 1980s.

She later felt obligated to address the backlash and tweeted the following message:

“I am really sorry if I have offended anyone. Obviously that was not my intent. I do not support racism. I support gay rights, straight rights, women’s rights, men’s rights, white/black/purple/orange rights. I like Ron Paul because he believes in less government and letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country. That is all. Out of all of the Republican nominees, he’s my favorite.”

She supported the best candidate. There are Libertarians that are voting for Obama as the lesser of two evils. Some just want to stick it to the GOP for their dirty tricks. Others think Obama’s foreign policy is less aggressive. I guess when the two candidates represent the same principles picking the nicer guy is as good of a reason as any. I personally don’t agree with her choice, but what difference does it really make?

Its very obvious that any real Paul supporter would never vote for Obama. They might not vote for Rommney, but they for sure wont vote for a big government liberal like obama. Kelly is trying to get another cd sales boost. To bad she cant understand that conservatives are for the free market. Obama is a fascist. (not a marxist)

Actually I think we should go back to the 1950s. America was at its peak then. Now it’s a degenerate, gay loving, Muslim sympathizing, communist infested modern day Rome. And look at the condition this country is in now thanks to liberalism. American needs to go back to the 1950s if it wants to make any kind of comeback.

@WAKEUPUSA2012, I agree that Libertarians are the opposite of Obama. I don’t speak for everyone though. I’ve just heard several albeit a very small percentage that said they were going that route because of the reasons stated above. Most are voting Johnson, writing in Paul or abstaining.

I understand what your saying. I just hope its not true. If its someone who is not politically awake, and only went for certain people because thats who was “in” then yeah. I dont think Obama is a lesser of two evils. I think Rommney is. But they are the same on foreign policy. Rommney would be better on domestic issues. But not anywhere as good as Paul or Johnson. Just dont vote if someone thinks obama is better. because thats crazy.

Obama is better at keeping the US out of another war and potential large-scale blowback, Romney has a slim chance of shrinking government spending…. But on the whole, they both suck. I could see someone preferring Obama because he only has 4 years (versus Romney’s 8) but i think voting for either of them is foolish

Nothing that we haven’t heard many times before. Don’t buy the crapola from Wrong Paul voters that they are “voting on principle.” Most of them are really just Obama voters acting as vote-splitters.If it wasn’t the case they would admit the FACT that they are helping Obama win by taking a vote that could have been Romney’s.

Oh how cheerfully do people sprint into the open arms of servitude and embrace the shackles that will hold them for the rest of their lives. Freedom? Bah, who needs it? They will trade every ounce of freedom in exchange for free room, board, food, medical, & abortions. They would gladly see this great nation fall from leader of the free world to becoming a failed 3rd world country, just like BHO planned with his “Fundamental Transformation”. The rich will become poor, the companies will fail & be sucked into the ever bigger government. Quality will become irrelevant (Just look at the quality of Soviet era & Chinese era products) as the government will provide all so who cares if it breaks down or looks the same as it did 20-years later.

Some day, they will stand before God & will have to answer for their choices. If you are an Atheist, don’t gripe at me, you think in the end everyone will just be worm food.

As for Kelly Clarkson, I haven’t heard her music, don’t plan to hear it, & support her right to vote for who she wants. As for the wisdom of her choice or that of any Libertarian that chooses to vote for Obama, you’ll be first in line to get the Obama’s new “Useful Idiots 2012″ T-shirts with the photo of Obama & Lenin smiling & shaking hands on the back. So let me get this straight. The world is on fire. Terrorism is rising. Our economy is on the brink of collapse. Govt is growing at an exponential rate. Gas, groceries, goods and services cost at least 2X what they cost even 4 years ago. Average household salaries are way down. Record unemployment and underemployment. The country is more divided along ideological lines than ever before…. And the biggest concerns on some people’s minds are gay sex, gay marriage, free contraception and free abortion? What the EFF is wrong with people?

Both men were biting their nails in anticipation to see who Clarkson would endorse. A nation waiting with baited breath. The leader of the free world hinging on the pop singer’s endorsement. In the end…homosexual marriage and “womens’ issues” trumped chronic unemployment, out of control debt and four dead diplomats.

Put the glasses down ladies and gentlemen, the horse has bolted, the election is over with Clarkson’s endorsement of Obama. Romney just can’t surmount such incredible odds like this. With Clarkson’s endorsement a nation can now get off the fence and follow her lead, a lead that shows clarity of thought and a robust understanding of our fiscal and national security concerns. A lead that takes us to strong job growth and a path to a balanced budget… I’m sorry…I can’t even type this without going into bursts of laughter….

Both Obama and Romney foreign policy leads to WW III with nukes. Russia and China are gearing up.
The Middle East and Brotherhood is just a distraction. The Middle East made be the match but the war will include nukes from Russia and China. The Bible even says this will happen. To bad no one voted for the man of peace Ron Paul.

Here’s what is coming. WW III with nukes.

Sounds far fetched until you look at how the stars are lining up and who is saying this. 2-10 years max.

I agree 00100111 though we as conservatives should abide by the same logic. Libertarians such as Ron Paul and Gary Johnson tried to convince the conservative public that gay marriage, drugs, prostitution, and abortion should be legislated at the state level per the tenth amendment, but for some reason these same conservatives pulled a Kelly Clarkson and derided this view, labeling it as “leftist” or “neo-liberal”, when in fact the truth is it’s “constitutional”. Here we had two candidates, albeit libertarian, offering a plan to balance the budget in their first terms, but conservatives simply couldn’t vote for them apparently because they “couldn’t get behind his foreign policy” or “couldn’t get behind his drug policy”. Perhaps Kelly Clarkson likes Mitt Romney but she just “can’t get behind his gay policy”. The sad reality is that single issues play important roles in both conservative and liberal circles. The number one pressing issue that this nation needs to address is the deficit and neither Romney or Obama is offering to fix it.

That’s right. Because otherwise it’s unconstitutional, progressive, inexpedient, expensive and immoral. You post this dribble based on your religious beliefs to make SOCIETY a better place yet fail to see that when you put the society above the individual you are destroying what country was founded on. Marxists, socialists, fascists, and you religious altruists all have this in common. It’s collectivism and it will always lead to tyranny.

Keep in mind, all this went on with the complete disdain of the two parties and establishment media. Just imagine if this message really got out into the public…..

I think you misunderstood my post. I’m not advocating policing prostitution, drugs, or gay marriage. My position is the same as Ron Paul and Gary Johnson’s in that these issues should be legislated at the state level per the United States Constitution. The point of my post was merely comparing 0010001′s frustration with Kelly Clarkson rejecting Mitt Romney on a single issue with the Republicans rejecting Ron Paul and Gary Johnson over a single issue, who both happened to be the only two candidates to offer a balanced budget (which is the most pressing single issue of them all).

      There are more parts also.

Him and the so called ” libertarians ” are helping bring to fruition the communist goals with there reverence for drugs, perverse sex acts and disdain for the traditional American values that preserved the Republic for so many years.

      http://www.uhuh.com/nwo/communism/comgoals.htm

Who is the NWO? The Elites of the world, America has always been a target as we shuned the old ways of Kingships handed down since the dawn of civilization. The UN is just a body of elites.

Communism is collectivism, the spectrum runs from democracy all the way to communism just in different severities. America is a representative Republic, with a goverment that was originally designed to protect the rights of the people but has been perverted by communists since the late 1800′s, slowly creeping in like cancer. But those ” in the know ” will blame the smallest population on earth ” jews ” for all of the worlds ills when blatant communism is right in their faces and will commit national suicide for their drugs and sexual orientation and then have the nerve to call everyone else neo conservatives. Maybe it is not your intention but it sure does look like you are trying to demoralize republicans cause even you know Gary and Ron have no chance
