President Obama’s position as a senator on issues like partial-birth abortion– where a live baby is pulled partially out of the birthing canal, only to have its skull punctured with a sharp object– is known to many voters.  Though he voted “present” a remarkable number of times, he voted three times against the Born Alive Act in Illinois, which says that babies who survive late-term abortions are entitled to all the rights and protections any other infant would receive.

Now, LifeNews has uncovered a fundraising letter signed by Michelle Obama in 2004– just one year after President Bush signed a bill banning partial-birth abortion– calling partial-birth abortion a “legitimate medical procedure.”

The letter begins:

We have all been concerned lately with the rise of conservatism in this country, especially as it relates to women. You’ve read the alarming news about the Justice Department’s request for hospitals to turn over the private medical records of dozens of patients. This cynical ploy is designed to intimidate a group of physicians and force them to drop their lawsuit seeking to have the so-called partial birth abortion ban ruled unconstitutional.

The fact remains, with no provision to protect the health of the mother, this ban on a legitimate medical procedure is clearly unconstitutional and must be overturned. ​[Emphasis added]

Michelle Obama has come under fire for the letter before– particularly when her husband was running for president in 2008– but the letter was primarily spoken of, not circulated in its entirety.

“I’d like to ask Michelle how in the world she could in good conscience raise money from fear-mongering about this barbaric abortion procedure,” pro-life advocate Jill Stanek said at the time.

When then-candidate Obama issued a warning to keep family out of the public eye, Stanek added: “So it’s fine to kill late-term babies, but we can’t risk hurting Michelle’s feelings about it…”

Since arriving in the White House, the Obamas have remained strong pro-choice advocates, but are far less vocal about late-term abortions.  When asked about their previous stance, Obama representatives have said the legislation interfered with the mother’s original right to choose.

If anything, the Obama campaign has turned such issues on their heels.  Their longstanding support for abortion makes them protectors of “women’s rights,” and those who disagree, or ask women to pay for their own birth control, are accused of waging a “war on women.”

      Now that’s a silly question. Have we seen this letter by Michelle Antoinette Obama? Of course not, because the “chosen people” controlled Marxist Media have hidden it.       Think about the circles these people hang in. The “green” theme is fewer people “polluting” mother earth, so it is critical to continue the murder of the unborn and to poke the mid-east hornets nest to cause mass extermination of the undesirable overpopulation. Allow free circulation over our borders, drug lords kill lots of folks. Think about how full the earth would be with all the unborn saved? WWIII- would do alot? Seriously.

      In the case of partial birth abortion Their is almost never a threat to the woman’s life. Both mother & babe can be saved. In-fact the mother goes through the birth as any mother would but the Dr. or attendant then kills the baby as it is coming out their-by getting by the law because the baby is not fully out side the mother.
      Now I don’t care what you think about this procedure because their is no defense fore killing a baby that could survive without the mother that just does not want it.       Hey Monk–w/o giving away your location, what ‘type’ of state are you in? In other words, battleground, lean R or O. Just curious. Here in AZ I’m starting to have the pants scared off of me with the lack of R&R displays, but we have groups of vicious sheriff joe arpaio opponents, if you know what I mean, that have been trouncing on any type of ‘R’ displays. Maybe folks are just keeping it close to the vest??? I don’t know, but the numbers that keep coming from here are making me nervous to say the least.
      Needless to say, I think we will have some of those UN poll watchers here because of the astounding registration drive done in the huge hispanic areas around the state. They are going to try and force illegal votes through by intimidation is the main consensus.

      As an OR nurse I have been involved in D&Cs in which a dead fetus is delivered surgically as the mother is bleeding. I think that those who so lightly espouse the acceptance of “partial birth abortions” should be present at one or at least see video of the procedure. These procedures (D&Cs or tubal pregnancies) were some of the toughest that I was involved in and I saw my share of trauma. I could leave feeling that we saved the mothers life, but I could feel their pain as these were wanted children. I feel saddened that people are so cavalier with their lifestyles that they do NOT practice birth control and rely on abortion. Think it is ALWAYS a mistake? Look at Russia’s abortion numbers.

      My son, who is in the 8th grade, has an assignment where the teacher assigned kids to represent one party or the other and critique the candidates based on the second debate, and tell where each one stood on issues. My son (luckily) got Romney. Most of his class is for Obama. He brought up abortion, and that Romney was against it. Some of the girls in his class didn’t even know abortion meant killing a baby, they thought the woman was just mysteriously not pregnant any more. It was just getting rid of an unwanted pregnancy. Thank you Mr. President for education our children, and saying you wouldn’t want your daughters burdened with a pregnancy. IT IS KILLING A CHILD.

      I liked your post. Since I’ve been saved, many things are clear that were foggy in the past. Even when I was young and lost, I wouldn’t have thought killing a baby during birth was ok. I am amazed that this is ok, but if a doctor accidentally or through negligence, kills a newborn, he or she is convicted and stripped of their license. A husband is charged with murder if he assaults his pregnant wife and the fetus dies. Where is the logic here? At what age does the mother’s right to kill her child end? 1,5,14?

      I strongly agree. I also believe that this administration has not flinched at the murder of countless humans. Take the gunrunning that took place over the past few years and the countless lives murdered with those guns in Mexico as well as one of our border agents and one of our farmers on the border. Take the most recent example of the US Ambassador to Libya and 3 US citizens killed during an 8 hour murderous rampage on the US Benghazi Consulate while being watched in real-time in the White House Situation room as well as at CIA and FBI and other Intelligent headquarters. Stand down and don’t intervene, don’t send help. Mind boggling to say the least. That [shedding of innocent blood for political gain] line has been crossed many many times already.

    Can anyone explain how partial-birth abortions are used when the “health of the mother” is a concern? Doesn’t the same act occur (giving birth?) regardless? If anything, it seems that it would lengthen the time of the labor by stopping to suck the brain out of the child rather than just removing it from the womb. Maybe I’m misinformed…

      There is a difference, and I don’t say this to promote it, but to condemn it.

      In a partial birth abortion, first the Dr. (if we can call them that since a Dr. is supposed to take an oath to do no harm but in this case is killing a viable child), first the Dr. induces labor artificially. Since the child is not full term, the baby is easier to deliver (and more helpless), the justification used is preventing “dangerous growth”. Noteworthy of course is the pause to kill the child before full birth. This is done so as to skirt the law of murder, because if the child was fully out of the birth canal before they tried to kill it, well that would be murder. But then they reject a law that says if you try to kill the baby in the birthing process and something goes right (I can’t call the baby living something going wrong) and the baby manages to live your attempts to kill it, well then they want a law that protects the Dr. so they can go ahead and take another shot at the killing even though the baby is now a individual separate being (of course it always was). On one hand they use the excuse that the mother may kill a child so long as it is (in) her body decision and it isn’t murder because it isn’t “viable” on its own. Then they turn around and take a living baby out of the womb and want to still kill it because it was too “viable” to be killed the first time.
      May God have mercy on our souls. Dr.s who participate in killing are not Dr.s

    Ive watched a simulation of the proceedure on u-tube…i couldn’t dare watch the real thing even if it was posted. It is flat out murder! And a barbaric form at that. They either stab the baby in the spinal cord with scissors (then open the scissors up) or they take the live baby and put it in another room to die. It took 8 hours for one of the babies to die. This is f’n sick!!! If a woman is raped, why wouldn’t she monitor her body for pregnancy at an early stage and abort then? Why wait for months and months?

This makes me sick having just watched my second son being born 3 weeks ago. The fact that this kind of thing could be allowed to happen or supported by a country as great as ours astounds me.       Sacrifying of one’s own child for one’s own selfish and greedy reasons? Back in sane world, most, if not all, mothers would give their life for their child. Real women sacrifice their lives for the life and well being of their children. Real woman aren’t self righteous and consider the life of an innocent, defenseless, precious child in the womb as the most important priority and most sacred gift they could be entrusted with. Real women respect, honor, and keep their bodies clean, pure and holy. Real women respect themselves and their roles as women with dignity and integrity. Real women accept their bodies and what they were made for. Real women understand the value of life and the honor it is to be the one who sustains and mantains it in the womb, while on her breasts, or while clinging to her fingers and attempting to walk for the first time.

      We need more Mothers, not murderers. And on that note, we need more fathers to stop being cowards and to be their for their children. A husband is ONE flesh with his wife. That baby is a part of him too.

      You are all on to something: once one devalues the life of a human fetus, it is a slippery slope to devalue the life of an older person who could be classified as ” non-productive ” to the greater society by Big Brother Government .
