‘Real News’: What Does Obama Mean By ‘Economic Patriotism?’

The president has released a new plan for a second term Tuesday called: “The New Economic Patriotism: A PLAN FOR JOBS & MIDDLE-CLASS SECURITY.” The glossy 20-page policy outline covers such topics as education, retirement, energy, health care, and tax reform. The release corresponds with a new ad introducing the plan which highlights things we’ve heard before, such as asking the wealthiest to “pay a little more.”

Economic Patriotism is not a new rhetorical term to the campaign, but shouldn’t the concept raise an alarm? Patriotism has certain collectivist connotations that we all are doing something in the name of government that (when it comes to the economy) is perhaps antithetical to growth.

The ‘Real News’ team gave reactions to the plan Tuesday, and discussed how much of it is old ideas and what this plan for “economic patriotism ” would really mean in a second term.

Economic Patriotism is code for confiscation of IRA’s 401K’s and other retirement plans. It will be under the guise that is for our protection…protection from that awful villian, Wall Street. It will be doled out to us as they see fit and means tested for how much you can receive monthly of your own retirement money. The Liberals have been studying this for years. Ask Michele Bachman. She spoke of it at one time.

  Google “RIN 1210 AB33″ and you’ll find that this proposal has been around since 2008. The SEC had a “comment period” back in 2010. I filed a complaint back then and even notified several brokerage firms as most of the 401ks that would be confiscated would be in custodial accounts they handled. Nobody really seemed to care much, Schwab was the only firm that bothered to look into it.
  
  Anyway, the plan is there, waiting for a good crisis. The cheap flimsy justification is that people lose their retirement funding if the market tanks (nobody notes that they make a ton when the market bubbles) and the “solution” is to absorb it into the Social Insecurity system to “protect” us. Of course, if you managed to set aside 300 or 400 thousand over 40 years of contributions and investments you can bet that this amount will just disappear; but you’ll still get your paltry SS income!

  Or it could just mean the same thing Reagan meant when he encouraged Americans to buy the Chrylser K-car. One of the worst cars every produced in the US other than perhaps the Ford Edsel. It is time to invest in a wider America. And move our science and engineering talent away from making stronger and more prolific weapons to rebuilding our infrastructure, educational system, technological development and manufacturing capability. What the definition of economic patriotism might be an amorphous term. Economic treason is not…. its when you keep and hide you money in off shore accounts, behind shell corporations and utilize IRA tricks to shield investment income on $100 million dollars from taxes real citizens pay everyday. But of course Romney gives a lot of money to charity which is kinda like paying taxes, except of course he claims them as a deduction on the fraction of his taxes that he is actually paying. But for some of you this is the measure of high character, integrity of ethics. To the less Belief Entitled this is a person who merely cheats his fellow citizens and his country.

When obamafail says “economic patriotism”, he means higher taxes across the board, ramped-up wealth redistribution and a myriad of expanded socialist policies. We must always keep in mind that obama is a sworn enemy of the United States, and his singular goal, his “mission”, is to destroy OUR nation – it is vital that we not let our guard down and that we spread the truth about obama. WE must not allow obama to remain in power.

CBS affiliate posts false results day in advance of Presidential elections. Several Arizonia posters say this happened. Affiliate gives no reply.

  Patriotism is love of one’s country. Would a patriot want to “fundamentally transform” their country? NO! BHO is no patriot, and he can’t order others to be patriotic. Economic Patriotism just means that Obama expects taxpayers to work harder and pay more taxes so he can buy the votes of the non-productive.

Obama believes you exist for the benefit of others and your own duty is to work and obey.

  Wife and I retired at age 56 and work no more. When Barry said, “sometimes you’ve made enough money” he was also saying “sometimes you’ve paid enough tax” as well. Since we’re conservative (no $1000 nikes or the latest iPhone for us!) and saved a lot, we’re doing OK on our savings. I figure that if the 20 and 30 year old kiddies help vote Barry back in, they’ll be paying for it for the rest of their lives. After all, when the Baby-Boomers really get retiring in the next 5 years, those kiddies will play hell trying to cut off our retirement.

Every single time they want to raise taxed, they always go after the top 1% wealthy. then they run ads stating that we will lose our fire protection, police protection, inmates will be turned lose because there isn’t enough funding to house them, medicaid will be cut, welfare will be over hauled, and teachers will lose their jobs. Every single election, we get this rederick, and yet, when the next election roles around, we once again, get fed this spoon fed crap all over again. the reason we are so divided this time around, is because something happened, the middle class has woken up, and dediced they have had enough of being the ones that end up footing the bill. When Obama took office, he wanted to blame everything on the Republicans and Bush, but the democrates had control of the house and senate. Bush couldn’t pass a bill if he wanted, and especially if it would of made him or his party look good. if you want to place blame on why we are in this fix, then look at the democrates. Google, do a bing search, go to past administrations, and look up the facts for yourself. Stop the demonizing, and start doing some honest to goodness research for yourself, and if you find any information that starts poking wholes in who our president is, or who he has supprounded himself with, then keep digging, and wake up for the sake of our country.

  I think the Government should set the example!! Get ride of the useless departments, start with the GSA……..cut your staffs by 50%…..take half your pay and put towards the deficit…….stop flying all over the world at the drop of a hat……TERM LIMITS…….buy your own lunch…..there’s so much more it’s dizzying to think about!!!! They are suppose to be leaders, well they should take the lead on this, if they want me to sacrifice and give up some things then they need to set the example otherwise…..shut the hell up!!!!!!

11 million people watched the third debate 5,000,000 who watch Fox news,the 750,000 that watch msnbc and a balance of political junkies that don’t matter. The popular vote is over for the part-time president. He’s out of time and out of money. He believes that Ohio will save his part-time job. States like Wisconsin, Colorado, Iowa and even New Hampshire will go to Romney.
The polls showed that Scott Walker would lose the recall election in Wisconsin. He went out at 12% and won by 8%. When you Obama supporters watch Pennsylvania go for Romney early in the evening you’ll know it’s over. Romney will win over 320 electoral votes and the republicans will have 50 senators. Axelrod will go back to his job of chauffeur for Jessie Jackson Jr. Life will be good again.

One of the things that disturbed me during last night’s debate is that Obama keeps spouting how we need to hire 100,000 more teachers. Romney sort of confronted him on the issue about the community knowing if they need more, but he never bothered to ask how we pay for the teachers, who they will work for, and who picks up the tab after they’ve hired them for a year. President Obama makes a big deal out of people paying their fair share, but he’s never confronted with a very basic fact. If you taxed the so called 1% at a rate of 100%, you would generate only enough revenue to fund the government for a whopping 98 days. Then of course, most of the 1% will stop investing or will leave the country and renounce their citizenship, so there won’t be any money to grab in the next years. And by fair share, does he mean that the 47%, who pay no income taxes at all, and many even get tax credits, should pay absolutely nothing for the privilege of living in this country? Just what is their fair share Mr. President?

  100,000 teachers and everyone union,what he did not say is that every health care employee will be union, and to think he believes that unions are going to save America, he has to know that for every union retiree,it takes 19 other union members to cover his retirement so with that kind of math he has to know that that we can not continue to survive with our capitalist system, he is trying to destroy our system so he can start his own { george soros style system } he knows that we are screwed even if everyone is union and everyone make 50,000 a year, that we can not make it,the cost of living will sky rocket with the rise in pay rates,so again we can not make,
