New O’Keefe Video Shows Dem. Congressman’s Son Apparently Advising How to Commit Voter Fraud (Updated)

UPDATE: Patrick Moran has resigned from his position with his father’s re-election campaign.

Conservative activist James O’Keefe released a new undercover video Wednesday apparently showing a Democratic congressman’s son giving advice on how to commit voter fraud.

In the video, a man identified as Patrick Moran, son of Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.) and the field director for his re-election campaign, is asked by an undercover operative how best to vote in the names of 100 inactive voters he has on a list.

“There are 100 people who don’t vote,” the male videographer says in the footage, said to have been recorded in Arlington, Va. on Oct. 8. “He’s got a van and he and me were going to go around –”

“Rally these people up and get them to the polls?” Moran asks.

“Well, he was actually going to get in a van and vote for them,” the videographer says.

“Oh,” Moran says with a long pause. “Hmm. Hmm.”

Later in the conversation, Moran advises that in order to vote in someone else’s name you would need a document with their name and address and mentions faking a utility bill.

“He’ll need something with a name and their address on it,” Moran says. “There will be a lot of voter protections so if they just have, they’ll just need a utility bill or a bank statement — bank statement would obviously be tough — but they can fake a utility bill with ease, you know?”

Still sounding hesitant about the idea, Moran tells the videographer it would probably just be better to devote his energy to regular get out the vote efforts.

“I feel like all the energy that you’re going to be putting into this this, I think it would be much better suited finding out with the uh, with just the in place GOTV [get out the vote] stuff,” Moran says. “That energy that you’d be putting in and trying to like ensure that it went through without a hitch and the risk to your name, I feel like plug it in and going to some like under performing districts.”

When the videographer produces what he says is a bag of names and addresses of inactive voters, Moran says that in order to vote for them he’d need a forged utility bill.

“It has to be a utility bill or something like that,” Moran says. “So you have to forge it.”

Moran also says there will be lawyers from the Obama campaign and others volunteering at the polls to protect voters who could help if the videographer’s credentials are questioned.

“You’ll have somebody in house that if they feel that what you have is legitimate they’ll argue for you,” Moran says. “But it’s got to look good.”

He later suggests the videographer call the people to ensure they don’t plan on voting themselves and suggests posing as a pollster.

“You can even just call and be like a pollster,” Moran says. “Do you guys plan on voting, you know, November 6? And then go on from there, and then depending on their answer just, if they say yes just go through and find out if they’re Dems or what.”

Rep. Moran spokeswoman Anne Hughes did not immediately return a phone call or emailed request for comment from TheBlaze.

A voice message left at the Moran for Congress office was not immediately returned, nor was an email sent to Patrick Moran.

Update: Moran resigned from his position as campaign field director late Wednesday afternoon.

“Effective immediately, I have resigned from the Moran for Congress campaign,” Moran said in an email from his campaign account, according to Talking Points Memo.

Moran did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment from TheBlaze.

Update II: In a statement to the Associated Press Wednesday night, Moran said that “at no point have I, or will I ever endorse any sort of illegal or unethical behavior.”

“At no point did I take this person seriously. He struck me as being unstable and joking, and for only that reason did I humor him. In hindsight, I should have immediately walked away, making it clear that there is no place in the electoral process for even the suggestion of illegal behavior, joking or not,” he said.

  Talking about Justice, when is someone going to vote in the place of Eric Holder. Remember James O’Keefe’s guy almost voted in his place and then when it was given him he stopped the election official. Good for O’Keefe. (I linked the video to an early post below)

  So, if all the entitlements in the world can’t make them actually vote, the democrats will go one step further and vote for them. How nice, the full extension of the nanny state. I wonder just how many votes would not be cast if a driver’s license had to presented to vote. I bet King Hussein wouldn’t have benefitted from his 7% bump over Republican voters had driver’s license been required.
  
  It is time to change the laws to protect our country. If you can’t make it to the polls you don’t deserve an opinion. You obviously, don’t care enough to stand in line and vote.
  
  So this is the get out the vote process, Chicago Style.
  
  No wonder Al Gore was adamant that he had won Florida. He knew they had put in the necessary efforts to off set the real voters of America by making sure those who don’t care enough to vote were represented at the polls.
  
  Being registered to vote isn’t enough, you are required to actually place that vote.

Guys, don’t lump Virginia into any of this. Jim Moran’s district is Fairfax Co. While that’s within Virginia’s borders, culturally it’s DC. Being one of the wealthiest counties in the US, it also has a lot of northern transplants who didn’t check their ideology when they moved across state lines.

  Don’t blame this all on northern transplants. There are a lot of southerners who will sell out for a little bit of cash or something else. If there were voter ID laws requiring more than a utility bill, and people took this as the serious crime that it is, voter fraud would decrease. This dilutes the legitimate vote, and disenfranchises all citizens. I do not want to win an election at the cost of my morals or soul.

  Biometric ID (fingerprint) and Photo ID required by EVERY voter — early, absentee, and on voting day! Duplicte votes across State lines will automatically print out and invalidate all of those votes made by the same fingerprint AND automatically issue multiple arrest warants. Prosecute! Prosecute! Prosecute!

  If O’Keefe is classified as a journalist he doesn’t have to reveal his sources and the guy’s face was never revealed in the video. And if he lives in another Country (imported just for this) he might be already back home.
  
  We just don’t know how all this will play out.
  
  One thing is for sure though…. this guy Moran and his dad are currently sweating bullets.

  You should be 100% correct. The Morans should be sweating bullets. But they’re not. I have seen many articles concerning Dems caught cheating, and guess what? No one gives a rip.
  
  Now if scarf boy’s daddy or mommy was a Republican, this would be played out over and over for the next decade. But, this is not the case, so no one give a rip. GOP members of congress are weak at the knees. They are bullied by the press and their Democrat opponents.
  
  Scarf boy will be portrayed as the victim here. (looks like a set up to me) And that’s the way the MSM will pursue this story. I can hear their closed room discussions right now.

  What you didn’t see the news, Democrats were found sending out letters telling people they were ineligable to vote. That is voter fraud and those doing that are Dems from Seattle.
  
  Oh and don’t you remember the last election in 2010. Democrats found voting machines in their trunks.

Will this be investigated by Eric Holder… My bet is NO. Will this be covered by the MSM… My guess is NO. Will the MSM try to annihilate the reporter… My guess is YES. Will the Demoquacks still parrot their montra that there Is NO voter fraud, it is just trumped up allegations the republicans are making… My guess is YES.

This guy didn’t do anything wrong. Telling people how to do something illegal is free speech. We don’t ban knowledge. He never once told the reporter that he should commit voter fraud, and repeatedly encouraged him not to.

  The progressive NPR Soros Media Matters David Axelrod talking points for a drone to spout when accused of voter fraud is as follows. What voter fraud? The burden of proof is if Obozo wins……. Obozo wants to suppress and depress voters. Romney is going to win the popular vote by multi-millions of voters. If you were Obozo/Axelrod and you wanted to win the election then… all you have to do is steal enough votes in enough counties and win a swing state.

Nothing like a dem wanting to help commit voter fraud. Kind of why they were all so against voter ID laws.

We need voter id laws and the voter roles purged every election cycle to help deter fraud.
