The Best, Worst & Most Vicious Reactions to Donald Trump’s $5 Million Obama Ultimatum

Celebrity businessman Donald Trump disappointed a great many when his “very, very big” announcement ended up being an ultimatum for President Barack Obama. As TheBlaze reported, Trump said that he would give $5 million to the charity of the president’s choice if Obama releases to the public his college transcripts and passport records. The reaction to the businessman’s widely-reported video offer has been swift.

We’ve decided to compile some of the best and worst responses to the announcement. Considering that “best” and “worst” is, of course, subjective and dependent upon where one stands on Trump and Obama, we’ll let you discern which comments fall into either category.

Social media is, of course, ablaze with perspective, jokes, quips and — agitation. On Twitter, cartoonist JD Crowe and MSNBC’s Ed Schultz were quick to poke fun at Trump:

POLITICO noted that even some conservatives — individuals who purportedly agree with many of Trump’s political and economic views — joked about the monetary offering. The outlet recaps some of the responses:

“If at any point you seriously considered Donald Trump for president, please study the error of your ways in quiet, private contemplation,” wrote Jim Geraghty of National Review. [...]

“I will release my college transcripts and passport applications to Donald Trump in exchange for a $5 million contribution to Commentary,” tweeted John Podhoretz, the editor of that conservative magazine and a conservative columnist.

The Onion, too, took a comical — but arguably harsh — tone in addressing the announcement (caution: language):

In a blockbuster announcement today, Donald Trump announced that he is a very sad man who has nothing to live for other than drawing attention to himself. “I’m a sad, pathetic human being and a complete waste of life,” said Trump, adding that he lives an empty existence, and that he is nothing more than a corporate shill, as well as a failed husband, father, and human being. “I am the piece of shit you stepped in on your way to work. I am the vomit that hurls out of your mouth when you are sick. I want to kill myself very badly. Thank you.” Trump then slit his throat from ear to ear.

It doesn’t end there. From social media messages laughing-off Trump’s announcement to those that seem frustrated in tone, pundits and the general public alike are holding little back. Here are a few others:

While many of the responses were light-hearted in nature, some took a serious tone. Take, for instance, Democratic strategist Zerlina Maxwell who unleashed a series of messages accusing Trump of being racist:

As for those showering Trump with negativity following his announcement, well — he’s not showing any signs of being dissuaded or discouraged. In a subsequent tweet that was sent around 1 p.m. ET, he said “the response has been fantastic.”

  @Eastinfection You are certainly correct that capitalism works best if there is a large enough group of gullible individuals who are easily separated from their money. Witness the group that have made Ann Coulter and similar TV and radio personalities rich for just providing them with selective and biased stories that reinforce their beliefs. These Belief Entitled think that there is no reason to base their believes on scientific findings, experience or rational analysis. They have a right to believe the world is only 10,000 years old and believe that Romney is an individual of high character, ethics and integrity despite all evidence to the contrary. Witness the response by Ann Romney when confronted with several of the obvious lies her husband has put forth during the campaign. Rather than admit to the lie she indicated that Mitt says things that he strongly believes. As though the fact he strongly believes them makes them any less of a lie. Welfare to Work, Medicare cuts and of course his multiple positions on every issue are the reality. So if you want to vote against the PRESIDENT then just do that. But stop feeling a need to hold onto a belief that he is an individual of high character or worthy of anyone’s vote. Your supporting a “citizen” who keeps there money offshore in tax havens, withing shell companies and a gray area IRA to avoid paying taxes. 1. EVEN IF Obama was not a citizen (disqualifying him from the position of POTUS) he has alredy served a full term, I don’t think they would stop him now… They Washington didn’t even bother fully researching it when he ran the first time…

  OK but Trump is an SDDR I tell ya. This means Donald Trump is a “Super-Duper-Duper-Racist” (SDDR)! As everyone knows, anyone who questions the president about anything is automatically a “Big Racist” (BR)–but Donald Trump is just going way way too far here with his 5 million dollar thing–easily qualifying himself for his lofty SDDR rating. Sure, anyone can get a BR rating, but it takes some special racism to get the SDDR rating. In fact, they already would have been. And I would cheerfully take the $5M check and deliver it to a worthy charity. I had my hopes up so high… NOT. The important thing is the fact that almost no one is showing up for Obowmao’s speeches this time around, and they are coming out in droves for Mitt. We will have a new president in January. I have much higher hopes of this, and also that Harry Reid (I despise him) will no longer be the majority leader in the senate – higher hopes that is – than anything I was expecting from Trump. We so desperately need strong conservative leadership, and they will have a much bigger mess to clean up than Obummer inherited 4 years ago. Let’s hope they do not disappoint.

  You are SO right on every point! Seeing Romney in the debates, but especially Monday night, made me HUNGRY for a presidential President. And I think Romney is the one. I’ve warned my other conservative friends that when he wins and starts serving, he will undoubtedly make us mad sometimes, but it will NOT be the helpless fury we’ve all felt on a daily basis since January 10, 2009!

  I am disappointed in Donald, too. This means Donald Trump is a “Super-Duper-Duper-Racist” (SDDR)! As everyone knows, anyone who questions the president about anything is automatically a “Big Racist” (BR)–but Donald Trump is just going way way too far here with his 5 million dollar thing–easily qualifying himself for his lofty SDDR rating. Sure, anyone can get a BR rating, but it takes some special racism to get the SDDR rating. I don’t think Trump sits alone on top of the “Racists Totem Pole of the United States” (with his lofty SDDR rating), though–as there certainly could be a few others that share this sacred spot with him. Like Billy Graham for example–he publicly showed his support for Romney. This is just going way way too far as well–and so Graham should easily qualify for the SDDR rating, too. In the end, we just have racism all over the place. Its everywhere, its everywhere–and Donald Trump is certainly doing his part here to contribute to that. He better stay by his phone because he will be hearing from the NAACP. He can’t hide from the NAACP I tell ya. Yes, he can run but he can’t hide.

  Sketchy….Red Rocks is owned by the city of Denver….not the government. Never has been own by the government… It was the vision of John Brisban Walker. Yes they did enlist the help of the Civilian Conservation Corps. Which wasn’t a permanent program that FDR began to help young unmarried, unskilled men find work. And it certainly wasn’t FDR’s most socialist program..lol…
