Why Are N.C. Early Voting Machines Changing Romney Votes to Obama?

(Image: MyFox8 screenshot)
Just as TheBlaze reported a couple years ago about a “possessed” machine in Texas only allowing votes to be cast for the Green Party, an early voting machine in North Carolina was experiencing a similar issue.
My Fox 8 reported that in Guilford County, some casting early ballots found that when they voted for Republican candidate Mitt Romney, the machine appeared to change it to the Democrat candidate Barack Obama.

(Image: MyFox8 screenshot)
But poll officials said this is “not a conspiracy.” The electronic voting machines merely need to be recalibrated.
Guilford County Board of Elections Director George Gilbert said calibration issues are something that happen every election.
Still, voters were upset over the fact that this mistake was even a possibility.
“I was so upset that this could happen,” said Sher Coromalis, who cast her vote for Romney, according to My Fox 8. After a third go at voting, it registered correctly.
This issue was reported on Monday and was fixed by Tuesday at the Bur-Mil Park polling location. No further problems have been reported.
Watch the report:
In a recent interview with Pamela Smith, president of Verified Voting, TheBlaze learned voters experiencing issues with machines or problems at polling locations can contact the Election Protection hotline at 1-866-OUR-VOTE or use the app available for Android and iPhone. Smith too cited calibration as an issue with electronic voting machines, which should not go unreported. This is also a good example of why it is important to double check your vote was accurately recorded.
Smith said it is important to let poll workers know of the problem before you officially cast your vote. Stay tuned more information about different polling technologies, what can go wrong with them, and what you can do about it in an upcoming post on TheBlaze.

Critical thinking, why if one did several complain/ Why was not the one taken out or repaired after the first complaint? If several, why were they not calibrated before voting? After all one location could not have that many to do yet they had days to do it. Why does the calibration always trend left? Little thought yields they were ‘mis-calibrated left’ to begin with.

Yes we do need to go back to old methods to make it harder for this to happen be it ink or the old voting machines where you picked all your candidates and then pulled a lever or cord to cast the votes.

Posted on October 24, 2012 at 3:02pmI vote in NC in the last Presidential election, voted a straight republican ticket and it said “thank you for voting democrat.” I raised cain and they filled out some papers, etc., and I revoted. This year I got mail to vote for both, one each. Be sure and put your finger right on the party you vote for. I think the did it on purpose by giving the Democrats a larger field where the button would have to be right on the republican votes. They get their software for voting machines from Spain, or some other country.

Unfortunately, I think you are right. The amount of
money in politics today coupled with the cheapness
of electronics means there is lots of room for ‘tricks’
to be bought – via contracts for chips in voting machines.
Let’s say your making voting machines and you need
software, usually on ROMS, for your machine. You get
an offer from SOMEONE to supply chips at a really good
price, so you contract with them. You make machines,
and your bottom line is profit per machine. What you don’t
know (not having a software engineer on staff) is that
after every nth vote, the vote is changed from X to Y.
After all – you just make MACHINES, not electronics.
Far-fetched?- not at all, and entirely possible.
So, yes – a revolution is entirely in order, IMHO. I think
if We The People knew about all the corruption by
“our servants” over the past few years, it would have
already happened.

Posted on October 24, 2012 at 1:14pmIt’s the touch screen that needs to be calibrated. Touch screens work in many different ways but the most common are:
1. Laser Grid: Where your finger crosses the grid is where the cursor goes. It also doesn’t need to be recalibrated, but can be messed up by covering the hole the laser comes out of.
2. Resistive Screen: When you touch the screen, the screen senses the pressure much like a scale and depending how the resistance changes in the screen on both axis is where the cursor goes. The does need to be calibrated, it allows people to use anything to touch the screen.
3. Capacitive Screen: The most common, this screen senses electrical noise when pressed and then by different ways determines where you pressed the screen. Only things with an electrical charge can operator this touch screen, finger nails and pens don’t work. This screen also needs to be calibrated and does often fail.
FYI… Debit readers have capacitive screens and their pens all have cords that provide an electrical charge.

Its a simple “click the cross 3 times” sorta process.
There is also a “confirm vote” button that must be clicked to register a vote, which registers your personal and singular vote. Long story short, she tried 3 times to hit the right candidate, and then confirmed it. She voted only once, for Romney.
