Donald Trump Tells TheBlaze About His Obama Announcement: ‘Passport Applications Tell You a Lot’

On Wednesday, celebrity businessman Donald Trump took the media world by storm with his ultimatum for President Barack Obama: If he releases his passport records and transcripts, the entrepreneur will donate $5 million to the charity of the president’s choice. In an exclusive interview with TheBlaze, Trump spoke further about the offer, his views on Obama’s personal records and his take on Republican candidate Mitt Romney’s electoral prospects.

Naturally, TheBlaze asked why Trump made the proposal — one that has attracted a variety of opinion from talking heads and the general public, alike.

“I thought it would be a very easy way to get transparency from the president,” he answered, going on to accuse Obama of being the “least transparent of any president — ever.”

Trump maintains that Obama’s past remains a relative mystery. And since, in his view, not many people know about the president’s personal history, gaining access to his passport and college records would be telling.

“Passport applications tell you a lot,” Trump told TheBlaze. “I would hope to find nothing – but I have a feeling that might not be the answer.”

When asked about what he thinks are in the records, the celebrity businessman was candid, proclaiming that he doesn’t know — but he clearly noted his skepticism. Despite being unsure, Trump did make it known that he hopes the records are, indeed, clear of any oddities.

“I hope he does produce the records and I hope the records are perfect, because that would be a much better thing for the country,” he said. “I’d like to have the records be perfect — and that way all of the millions of people who are very skeptical would be extremely happy or satisfied.”

When asked what he plans to do if Obama fails to produce the records by October 31, the cut-off date that Trump imposed, the businessman said that he will wait until that point to determine his next steps. He made the point to say, though, that, if the president fails to disclose the records, Obama won’t “get $5 million for a great charity.”

But the bigger issue, of course, is how such a decision would impact citizens’ views of the president, Trump maintained.

“If Wednesday at 5 o’clock he doesn’t reveal, then I think you will have to form your own opinion,” he added.

While TheBlaze noted a diversity of opinion on Trump’s offer (some of the negative reactions are present here), he described it as being “positive” and “amazing.” He noted that many people have questioned Obama’s background. When TheBlaze asked if the businessman believes that the president was born in another country, he said “I don’t know where he was born — and neither does anyone else.”

As for the 2012 presidential election, which is just days away, Trump said that Romney has a good chance of winning, though he noted that the race will be close.

“I think if I were Mitt, I’d live in Ohio for a few days,” Trump advised. “I think he should spend tremendous amounts of time in Ohio.”

When asked to deliver a final word to Obama — something, perhaps, he didn’t say during his video offer made the day before, Trump obliged.

“I just think that he has a great opportunity to do something that would be not only good for charity, but good for the country — and good for himself.”

  Everything in your comment is UNTRUE! No Presidents have ever released their college transcripts (Bush’s were leaked to the public) and they are not required to. And, he NEVER sealed his information with an executive order. PLEASE read the first executive order he signed to find out what the real truth is. Also, although it is not required for Romney to do so, it is hardly unreasonable to ask him to release at least as many as his opponent (Obama) has.

  Be nice–I just found a refund check from Anthem, dated 7/16/12, for a whopping $9.54 refund mandated by Obamacare, a refund on $3,600 in health insurance with a $3,000 deductible! Wow, what a guy! I hope he isn’t holding his breath for my vote, ’cause if he is, he’s gonna be a bit blue in the face–for eternity! Go Donald! When they are out of the White House, they will keep working behind the scenes to destroy this country. It will have to be all but disinfected, even to the disease control centers in this country. Obama’s job is to clear a path for all of them to get into positions. Every last government worker from top to bottom should be background checked and released from duty. There should be civil service tests given for qualifying people to work in these federal positions, based not on race, but on ability. We do not owe anyone our country to experiment with regardless of their race. We owe them NOTHING. If they are not qualified, then get qualified and reapply. We should not have to answer for their stupidity and/or ignorance. They should be given no more breaks than those who overcame life’s stumbling blocks. It is time to wise up and realize we cannot run our government on phony ‘pity’ or playing games to pacify people who deserve other jobs for not doing what they are supposed to do. This is on par with casting our pearls to the swine, for sure.

  Do you honestly think that the federal government would willingly hire ragingly incompetent people? There is no reason for the federal bureaucracy to do that. To get hired you still have to go through a normal interview process, just like any other job. For more important positions, you do have to take exams (foreign service exam for one), to ensure that quality workers are hired.

  You do have to go through a regular hiring process… however. The specific terms to answer your question and motive of this are…. ‘useful idiot’ & ‘subversion’. You can look into Yuri Bezmenov’s youtube videos if you’d like specifics on how to destroy a country from the mind of the KGB. Obama should NEVER have been allowed to run for office with his background being what it is, anyway, even if he was eligible by citizenship. Obama is nothing but an ignorant fringe baiter who used his pro-(anything against God and America) to get fringes and thugs to cheat him into our White House. He is a criminal who deserves prison along with Holder, Pelosi, Bill Ayers, Jerimiah Wright, Rom Emanuel (lite) and Louis Farakhan. These people are disgrace to this country and those who sat back and allowed this to happen have NO backbone.   I know The Donald is listening, but so many liberals in this country who think Obama is God.
  Colon Powell, we once admired, but we no longer view him as having a bit of common sense. The cutting back on our military is a huge mistake, and as a military “brat” with most of my family now deceased, I know they are turning over in their graves at this monster called “Obama”, our U.S. President, our Commander in Chief.
  I read today that the Libya incident (killings of our people) is being handled by one of George Soro’s investigators, and connected to Iran. This is wrong, and I expect that they will find Obama clean as a whistle, as why else would George’s buddy be handling the investigation. There were photo’s posted of Chris Stevens being hauled, mauled, and toted through the streets. What move evidence could they possibly need as to what happened and the cover up by the Obama Administration. We all knew ‘the film’ wasn’t even a part of the killings of our embassy officials. This is worse then Fast & Furious, Watergate, and more. It makes Nixon look like an angel. There is so much corruption in our government it’s pathetic.

  Harrison or Harris is the last name, I believe of the man killed by what looked like a robbery with valuables still with the body? The man was attempting to get and destroy information on Obama and I guess they were tying up loose ends, possible.
  Which is strange, considering there was one Social Security number of a Harrison J. Bounel that Obama has used quite extensively, a man long dead from Connecticut, according to Susan Daniels, investigator. One of 16. It is quite interesting. Some of these names were used to borrow money that was never repaid so skip tracers found the names and addresses of these names and Social Security numbers at addresses where the Obama’s lived. These people with this information are seasoned investigators and are not amateurs.

I agree about a passport application .. they ask for names you have ever used etc. You have to show name changes including marriages or legal name changes .. birthdate and place .. you swear to the answers being correct (though I know Obama has little problem with lying about ANYTHING)

  The problem is how he did it. No one seems to know what can and cannot be made fun of by the liberal MSM. Trump played right into their hands and no HE is the ignoramus. HE is the one that needs to prove something. Obama would never do what he is asking, and the MSM made Trump look like a fool.   50 Caliber: You are one of the idiots who have sold out this country if you know what is known and still supporting these frauds in our White House. Either you are blind or stupid. Either way, you have missed the mark for this BH Obama, (bath house Obama?) Is it that important to have this McDaddy in our White House that seems to justify people who are playing the “gay” game that wants to make them look special to be treated like minorities with real complaints. There is no such thing as people being singled out for anything except on isolated or individual spats who would single someone out of any color or persuasion. Some people just want to bully, it makes no difference the color or persuasion if a bully decides to bully someone. It is all nothing more than using things to make whole races of people look guilty for something individuals do as mini-gangs or individuals who have hate in their hearts and who are criminals. Americans get along for the most part, but there are those who gain for making problems that do not exist and reap the benefit from the ensuing chaos in some form or other. They need a platform to scorn on, to berate on, to belittle on, to look holier than thou, on so the mal contents will take it and run with it. We have no race problems that have not been created by politicians who want to fool people for their votes. Sin and crime has no color.
