How Did a Man Hop JFK Airport’s Fence, Walk the Runway Without Being Stopped Until He Entered a Terminal?
You may have heard stories of friends accidentally sneaking banned items through airport security — pocket knives, nail files, larger-than-regulation-size bottles of liquid — because they simply forgot they had them and TSA didn’t detect them at the checkpoint. An inadvertent breach of security occurred at one of the nation’s largest airports a couple months ago but highlighted the potential for even more dangerous vulnerability.
ABC News reported that Daniel Casillo was jet skiing on New York’s Jamaica Bay in August when his water-craft failed. Being “pitch black” outside at the time, Casillo said he saw a lighted tower in the distance and swam toward it. ABC stated that reaching the light took a three-mile swim — Casillo was wearing a life jacket — a treck through marshy ground and climbing a chainlink fence.

The 31-year-old might not have known exactly what he was going toward as he made his way to the light, but when he reached the 8-foot fence, he quickly found out where he was. He breached the security at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Here’s how ABC described what happened next:
Cold and disoriented, Casillo climbed the 8-foot fence, but nothing happened. Despite climbing the fence and violating the law, Casillo remained undetected and headed toward the control tower.
“That was the only thing lit up that I could go to,” Casillo said.
Casillo walked across two runways past security, cameras and motion detectors that the airport recently paid millions of dollars to install.
“I figured I was going to be on cameras,” he said, “that somebody is going to pick me up and maybe a helicopter is going to come or a police car.”
Still unnoticed and wearing his life jacket, Casillo entered Delta’s Terminal 3, dripping wet when he finally walked up to a cargo worker.
Watch ABC’s report:
At this point, Casillo was arrested and charged with a trespassing felony. He plead guilty to a misdemeanor.
As for the security breach, the Port Authority told ABC News it ”took immediate action following the incident to increase not only Port Authority police patrols, but also increase our civilian patrols of the airport perimeter. Those patrols are 24/7 at all four airports.” It is also reviewing contractor Raytheon’s system that was supposed to detect such a breach. ABC reported that the security system cost $100 million.

Overall, Casillo said breaching airport security was not something he meant to do, but he feels he “exposed something really important.”

Posted on October 25, 2012 at 7:56pmHow were there not lights all around the fence lighting up signs that could have informed him he would break a law? Can you really be held guilty when you were not given any way to know where you were?
“Eco” overzealous energy conservation rules, or what? How can this be?

Progressive(communists) Democrats has used this scenario for ever to, for example, use any “shooting” to call for more “gun-grabbing” laws under the guise of “safety”. It’s just more of the same (and if YOU won’t jump the fence, they’ll supply the fence-jumper themselves) of:
“FALSE FLAG”
“False flag (also known as black flag) operations are covert operations designed to deceive in such a way that the operations appear as though they are being carried out by other entities. The name is derived from the military concept of flying false colors; that is: flying the flag of a country other than one’s own. False flag operations are not limited to war and counter-insurgency operations and can be used during peace-time.”

Posted on October 25, 2012 at 5:32pm$100 million dollars wasted. Bewildering how anything the government touches doesn’t work. 3 weeks ago I spent a little over $600 dollars on security. Someone enters my perimeter and my phone alerts me immediately of the intruder…and it works. How can I spend $600 for a working system and the big boys can’t get it right after $100MM….CRAZY!

Posted on October 25, 2012 at 3:45pmI don’t think security is the number one reason that TSA looks up the azz of everyone trying to board a plane. Maybe the TSA guards are told that. However…the whole thing is to get Americans more used to a totalitarian society and getting treated like cattle. Soon….the next thing coming is check points a state borders. Hide and watch.

Posted on October 25, 2012 at 2:24pmShowing even moreso that TSA and all airport security is simply security theatre. I’ve read countless instances of someone waltzing past security or going around it and nothing happening until it is exposed. I even made it through one time with a fully loaded magazine in my carry on. That bag is usually my range bag and I’d left a mag in a side pocket. Didn’t even know it was there til I got to my destination. The scarier thing? I told myself I’d mail it back, never got round to it because I’d put it back in that side pocket and made it back through security on the way back home. Those fools don’t pay attention. TSA is there to give you a warm fuzzy about safety or to give you dry humping at the gate.

Posted on October 25, 2012 at 12:03pmThe issue here is not about Casillo. It is about the Port Authority’s failure to protect America’s interests. This is failure on an epic scale, taxpayer monies have been squandered and people should face penalties. Think of things that could have occurred if this were an intentional event? This shows security theater to be more than just the TSA bump and grind show. Heads should roll, but we all know that will not happen. I guess disabled children and geriatric Grandmas are a greater threat to air travelers than keeping unknown people off the runways and away from aircraft.

Posted on October 25, 2012 at 11:40amHe’s lucky they did not slap a $30,000 fine on him for endangering public safety by interfering with runway operations, let alone the fines if they actually thought he was intentionally trying to be menace and charged with terrorism?
You found out about it so the security works?

Posted on October 25, 2012 at 9:20amA guy that was cold and disoriented wearing a bright orange life vest got past all of the security at one of our largest airports, he got well within rocket range and into suicide vest range of not only the planes but a terminal itself and found a ground crew person to talk to. I will say this in their defense, the ground crew are supposed to wear orange vests. However, none of them are supposed to climb over the fence.

Posted on October 25, 2012 at 10:07amOr the appearance of control. If you want to access an airport, only a government would expect you to only use the terminal, yet for security purposes they do. Regrettably, for us, the TSA, are rank amateurs when it comes to common sense.
The easiest way to access an airport, unimpeded by security, is to avoid the terminal. It’s really very simple as this mariner demonstrated.

Mow-ron. He probably saved us from a load of headaches down the road! Should have plead not guilty. Then it would have been up to the TSA to expose themselves (haha!) or release this guy with a handshake.

Posted on October 25, 2012 at 9:09amBLANC05 – LOL Exactly!!! Most people don’t want to fly anymore because nobody wants to be molested in order to ride in a damn airplane!
I know someone who always peeped past the secret service ALL THE TIME and never got caught through-out the Bill Clinton era. Even sneaked into the secret world leaders conference – when at the last second the media wasn’t even allowed to attend (except one). This person always came to work the next day with photos (from one hour photo) from all the sneaky moments caught on film, also accidentally ended up on the front cover of a national newspaper right there next to Billy-boy, a shoulder behind. After dozens of times doing this, she finally stopped because there was no more effort to even try, it got too easy, very boring. What if I would have brought in a wooden knife or something to hurt that guy?
Twice the metal detector went off – I still got inside!!! Secret service guys even shared a gum out of their pack with me. I walked around with them while their dog sniffed for bombs. Even snuck into $10k event and pretended I was on the list and wandered in AGAIN WITH A STUPID HANDWRITTEN NAME TAG. Geez oh man. Can it get anymore boring and lame???? They just stand around in their uniform and they think that’s enough??? They even spoke of their “secret” plans in a huddle WITH ME THERE. One even gave me the combination number to a lock, I opened it, ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? All security is embarrassing.
