Ever Heard of ‘Contact Juggling’? This Could Be the Most Amazing Routine You’ll Ever See

The most recognizable form of juggling — toss juggling — involves using three objects (sometimes more) where they’re systematically and continuously thrown up in the air so some objects are going up while others are coming down. But a slightly more complicated form of juggling — contact juggling – involves seamlessly manipulating balls along one’s body instead of throwing them in the air.

This form of juggling was recently spotlighted at the 2012 Japan Juggling Festival held in Tokyo. As io9 explains further, contact juggling is where the “ball is rolled, tossed, balanced and bounced.”

In this video uploaded to YouTube of one of the festival participants, not just one ball is involved though — there are several. His performance is so intricate he won first place.

Cool, but nothing new. Do a YouTube search for “freestyle soccer” or “freestyle football” and be wow’d. I can juggle a soccer ball pretty well and it takes some practice. Any decent teenage player should be able to do many of these tricks. There is no substitute for ball control. Have a look at these:

I have been a professional juggler since the mid 80′s and let me assure you–that contact juggling routine was spectacular and techincally very difficult.

Let me turn you on to a really enjoyable video by the person who many people claim is the ‘inventor’ of contact juggling, Michael Moschen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BS-LyKorcq8 (This was from his Ted Talks). Enjoy!

KOYETTSU.(?) My Canine American doing a good “reading the screen impersonation”, brought me back to the abandoned keyboard–clicking is another thing that they can do–esp if nourishment has been denied them for.several minutes. I saw your comment–I’m not a mean person–I fully understand your point. Yes, people have to get the lighter side-that said, there is a point in this country where someone is going to “ISSUE A STATEMENT FROM THE WH AT 5:00 PM EST well, not 5:00 now that Glenn can’t be knocked off by “WH newws” , since leaving FOX.) But someone WILL issue the NEWS that………”they are STRAIGHT.!”…….& it WILL be :news. “upset” or whatever word you would choose, not the word I would choose–or maybe it’s a trend in the world mindset. The country’s mindset. Where every family places priorities………..I for one am concerned about where we are as a country–and I SAW how & what got us here. It’s too bad, if people want a break–they are TIRED–I fear THAT attitude–in fact I KNOW that attitude will not CANNOT sustain what is going to be needed in the near future. Sometimes playtime has to WAIT & this nation is ADDICTED to it. THAT’S part of the PROBLEM!!!! The children WORK at PLAYING……..too many adults PLAY at WORKING,

I’m not that impressed. A good Rhythmic Gymnast does many of the same moves with a larger ball in a routine to music while rolling, leaping, and dancing.

Come on guys. Do you have to have blood and guts in every story? Maybe it isn’t the most amazing video that’s ever been seen and maybe some have already seen videos like this but what’s wrong with putting it up?
I don’t believe that EVERY story has to be blood and guts or the most IMPORTANT story of the decade to be put on The Blaze. There are already stories about bengazi on The Blaze. Not every story has to be about that all the time. Some light hearted stories are good once in a while.
      LIGHTEN UP!!

Frankly, they should meet me……I’ve seen A LOT–never seen a WOWWY-DDOZY circus act-trick camera shot-underwater footage-or any of the other tabloid HEADLINES that pop-up to DISTRACT from what NEWS is here. Sorry-BLAZE—sorry your decision makers can fool GB & Partners so easily……………..or you’ve had DULL lives, or you are examples of “Youth is wasted on the young”–YOUNG extending to WHO KNOWS…I hear at 26 YEARS OLD–one is a “kid” these days. You know–I’m younger than I thought too, if 26 = “child” (official Govt stat.) then I’m ONLY…………..(how YOUNG?!)

Its hard to conceive how anybody can find fault with this vid-
Some of the myopic comments are revealing. There must be SOME interest in this story, else why waste the time in looking ?

-if u do not think this is skillful, you are simply prejudicial
if u think this is skillful, and still find fault, you need a vacation

    Politics aside, this is awesome.

I have had enough… To let this president assassinate an ambassador, what else could have happen? We now know (3) three requests for assistance were declined…. Really? You people on the left, will you really defend Obama? George Bush, you say lied once about Weapons of Mass Destruction… Reagan exchanged weapons for hostages… But if true (and I do not believe for a minute it is true) NO BODY DIED!!!! Bengasi (4) Americans DIED…. How do you defend that?????

I bought a “Fushigi” — all it was good for was as part of my daughter’s Halloween costume (as a “crystal ball” for “Tralawney” (or whatever) from the Harry Potter books)

My 13 year old is actually pretty good with the fushigi. He can do the simplier routines, and with practice, would actually probably get pretty good. I tried, and flopped totally. That’s ok, his IQ is higher than mine, too. I’ve learned to live with it.
