‘Republican F**got!’: GOP Campaign Worker Beaten, Hospitalized After Alleged Anti-Gay Attack

Kyle Wood, a full-time volunteer on Wisconsin Republican Chad Lee’s House campaign, was reportedly savagely beaten at his home on Wednesday. The openly-gay Republican is claiming that his sexuality was the basis for the attack. Wood detailed the assault, which landed him in the hospital, in an interview with conservative news outlet The Daily Caller.

“I was getting ready for work and there was a knock at the door,” Wood said in an e-mail interview. “I opened it, and a guy wrapped a ligature around my neck, slammed my head into the doorway, and smashed my face into a mirror, telling me ‘You should have kept your [f**king] mouth shut.’”

According to Wood, the violence didn’t end there. The assailant apparently continued beating him, while claiming that the victim was previously “warned” (we’ll come back to that in a moment); the attacker also “kidney-punched” him.

Gay Republican Campaign Worker Klye Wood Attacked at His Home

The attack initially left Wood unable to move portions of his body. In addition to a concussion, his eyes were also swollen shut and he had markings on his head and neck. The official incident report reads:

A 29-year old High St. resident contacted the MPD Wednesday morning to report a battery inside his residence. The victim said a man entered through an unlocked door around 8:00 a.m. and attacked him. He said nothing was taken. Investigators believe this was not a random crime. The victim was treated at a hospital and released.

But let’s get back to the aforementioned warning that was mentioned during the alleged assault. Wood believes that the comment was made in reference to graffiti that the victim found on his car a week before the incident.  According to Wood, the messages on his car read, “house trained republican faggot,” “traitor,” and “ur like a jew 4 hitler.”

The DC reports that Wood believes that initial comments were clearly linked to the attack. Furthermore, the vulgar comments were references to his job with Lee (Lee’s opponent, Mark Pocan, is openly gay as well). Prior to the attack — but after finding the messages on his car — the campaign volunteer responded to the perpetrator on Facebook, writing, “You can think whatever you like about me, but I will not be bullied into voting for a gay man simply because I am gay.”

The Cap Times has more about how authorities are currently viewing the case:

“We try to protect victims’ rights and privacy,” says police spokesman Howard Payne.

“The detectives have been out this morning and into the afternoon hours interviewing individuals trying to find out who this suspect is,” he says.

He says police don’t believe it was a random attack.

“We believe there was some connection of some sort the existed between the victim in this case and the assailant,” he says.

He wouldn’t say if the case was being investigated as a hate crime.

“Right now we’re not at liberty to say because we don’t know,” he says. “We won’t know if that was the case until we develop a suspect.”

Police in Wisconsin are currently continuing their investigation, as Wood is recovering and claims that he will not be “intimidated or threatened into abandoning” his values.

FIRST: Of course it won’t be called a HATE CRIME! The perpetrator is GAY. Gays are a protected class and are therefore by LAW incapable of perpetrating a hate crime.

SECOND: When the police officer SAYS: “We believe there was some connection of some sort the [sic] existed between the victim in this case and the assailant,” he MEANS: “The two men were lovers, they quarreled, and it got violent.” Note: The marks on the “victim’s” neck and the alleged “ligature” were no most likely a part of mutual, erotic asphyxiation.

Violence in the homosexual community is de rigueur. I know that its just so hard to imagine that a situation where two sexually aroused men heatedly taking to choking, penetrating, and bending each other over could turn violent. shocker…not!

It’s not a hate crime because the victim was white and Republican and the attacker was a white guy (or at least half white.) How do I know that you might ask?…. The statement attributed to the attacker was a complete and intelligible sentence. Only white guys or half white guys from Harvard speak in such nice intelligible sentences while assaulting someone for political gain.
Quite possibly the victim is a RINO (a Democrat plant) as well.

Amen, It always gets me that people use Romans 1 as an excuse for their hatred of homosexuals, but they never read Romans 2. which says if you condemn them you bring condemnation on yourself, and God will judge you with the same judgement. He is a human being. And a terrible unwarranted hate crime has been committed against him. I pray his wounds heal completely, and his heart “forgive those who have trespassed against him.” As for the anger and scapegoating in the abuser’s heart, ‘judge not lest ye be judged.” Before you judge another, or criticize the speck in your bother’s eye remove the plank in your own. But he was not just criticized, he was badly beaten. Remember when Jesus would not stone the woman for prostitution, but told those who were about to stone her to death, “Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone.” How does the angry abuser who committed this serious crime feel? Can he find remorse within himself? Can he ask forgiveness for what he has done, and make amends? Does he have a conscience, or has he lost touch with his soul?

I worry more about his eternal soul than this one unfortunate instance that in the grand scheme of things will pass faster than a beat of a hummingbird’s wing. Well that tells me it’s a radical liberal, quite possibly gay themselves. It’s political, and the traitor and jew 4 hitler mean betrayal. So they have to be either a liberal or gay or both for them to be betrayed by his political affiliation.

“Prior to the attack — but after finding the messages on his car — the campaign volunteer responded to the perpetrator on Facebook, writing, “You can think whatever you like about me, but I will not be bullied into voting for a gay man simply because I am gay.””

If this were someone on the left I know I would immediately think “They did that to themselves” – which is way of thinking that I am trying not to embrace – but I am not sure what to say here. I would be a hypocrite if I took this guy’s side just off the basis that he was a Republican. When I read the way that he was beat up and then look at his picture, I see no blood, no eyes swollen shut, cuts, just a couple of scratches on his forehead, etc…… I’m just going to wait until all the facts are in because I won’t put it past a person on “my side” to pull a stunt like the left has done.

Yep…it’s not unheard of for it to happen on our side as well ( IIRC, in 2008 a young woman claimed that Obama supporters cut a “B” for Barack on her face…turns out she did it to herself). I’ve stopped taking this type of incident at face value.

Well tis the season for these incidents (and by incidents I mean claims). The left has done such a bang up job with false allegations, it’s hard not to be skeptical when it’s alleged on the right as well. I’m just sayin’. I admire his determination and courage in the face of threat, but I need to see this played out to completion before I give my stamp of acceptance. That’s just how it is nowadays.

Another Wisconsin election beating. Last one was about a yard sign. This one is about a gay being a traitor to gays because he’s a republican? All of the evils of 0′s Pandora’s box have been unleashed on our crumbling culture. I watched all the wickedness going on in WI over Scott Walker and I was thinking I would never let my kids go to a school with teachers like those in charge. And as much as I love Scott Walker I would never want to live in WI with the way the people act in that State. They should be thanking God for a man of integrity and fiscal sanity. I’m in MN and it probably could get that bad here. This State is really messed up because everyone from everywhere has moved here and it’s not “nice” like is used to be. And the Left is in charge in MN. My heart is in TX someday I will move there.

I feel bad for gay’s…..I believe its not a choice. Just wrong wiring. If I was to choose between the bad wiring of gays vs the bad wiring the political elite, I would chose gays. But again as I’ve said before…….its not natural. 3 islands, one with a gay couple, one with a lesbian couple and one with a hetro couple……let the ride out 3 generations ……..only one island would have life on it. Thats natural.

I agree it’s wrong to beat up gays or any group because of race, sexual orientation, etc. I believe in Evolution (I’m also religious and the two don’t conflict) as presented by Darwin (NOT how it’s been twisted by atheists) but I am skeptical of a “gay” gene. I do think everyone is probably born with certain predispositions, most of which are likely hereditary, but I really think environment is shaping force here. I know of studies where, back in the 1980s, a large group of gay/lesbian individuals were asked a series of questions as it regards to whether they chose their sexual orientation or if they were born that way. Most – 80+% – affirmed that they chose to be gay/lesbian. 10-15 years later, a similar study was laid out like the previous one, only this time about 15-20% said they were gay by choice. What I think is that gays looked at past civil rights movements for women and for blacks, seeing those groups have success and they decided to pattern their group akin to those civil rights movements. They also took out choice so would be personally exempt for their actions, got the media involved, people became sympathetic to their cause, and they influence grew to what it is today. I’m not saying this as fact, but just my opinion. I’m 32 and I have seen friends who were straight “suddenly realize” that they are gay/lesbian. I think people can rationalize anything these days.

      @ NOVX

We still don’t fully understand what causes differences in orientation but we do know that ATTRACTION is not a choice. Practicing sexual promiscuity, whether gay or straight, is very much a conscious decision though. But the actual attraction is determined by other causes. With that said, when it comes to politics I simply don’t care what kind of sex you’re having if any at all. Thats a little thing called freedom.

      PRAY ON, AMERICA.
Pray protection over yourself, your family, your home, your pets, your vehicles BEFORE you leave home for the day. Pray protection and thanksgiving once you all begin arriving home in the evening / night and pray it again on going to bed at night.
This is NOT our battle. It is the LORD’s. It is spiritual in nature, and we cannot do it on our own.
Ephesians 6 gives us battle instructions.

Pray, too, for the candidates and their teams ~~~ even those on the opposing side. PRAY like you’ve never prayed before.

GOD IS COUNTING ON US and we are counting on HIM.
