Pro-Obama Ad Has Children Singing About an America Where ‘Sick People Just Die’ & ‘Oil Fills the Sea’

The founders of the ad agency behind the iconic “Got Milk?” ad campaign and some of the other most well-known advertisements in the country have a new message: re-elect President Barack Obama, or your children will live in an America where “sick people just die” and “oil fills the sea.”
A two-minute black-and-white spot features a chorus of children — “the children of the future” — singing to their parents that “something happened to our country, and we’re kinda blaming you.”
A few other choice lyrics: “The Earth is cracked, Big Bird is sacked and the atmosphere is frying.”
The ad is the brainchild of Jeff Goodby and Rich Silverstein, of the San Francisco-based Goodby Silverstein & Partners, for their Future Children Project. The Future Children Project states on its website, “Re-electing President Obama is a momentous decision that will require every single voter. What would the children of the future say if we let them down this November?”
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Goodby is a registered Republican who said he has some concerns about “the direction the party is going,” while Silverstein said he was spurred by the “huge implications for the future” the presidential election will have.

Also, you say, “Obama is Hitler” and “this is what Hitler did in the Holocaust”. But, once again, if you read the article, you would have also know that Obama didn’t have anything to do with this. And, it’s not like they forced them to do it, like Hitler. It was completely volunteer based. As one of the participants, I know. Obama isn’t anything close to Hitler. Hitler hated gays. I have done so, and I think Romney has some great points, it’s just that Obama has better ones (COMPLETELY my opinion), and Romney has points that just don’t make sense. (For instance, budget cuts for schools and PBS, therefore needing to cut teachers and workers at PBS, thus creating MORE jobs? I don’t think so…).

I suspect that you got some help in your response, however, I was very into politics when I was young, so I can admire relate to your spirit. True, no tax dollars were spent in making this ad, and it was not done by the president. The reason people are comparing this to the Nazis, is because of a very famous movie called Triumph of the Will, about the training of Hitler Youth, which was made by a woman named Leni Reifenstahl. The ad does have a similar tone with the movie, and people who know of this, find the tone, disturbing and upsetting. It is an unprecedented ad for an American Campaign.
What bothers me the most, though, is that your teachers have not properly explained to you who and what the president is, and what the president can and cannot do. The president cannot introduce legislation, he can get support, and have his party act on his wishes, but he cannot issue orders to “fix gays” or save the few remaining polar bears. The president has three jobs, appoint a council and supreme court justices, sign or veto bills into law, and act as commander in chief of our military. He does have the right of executive privledge, however, that should not be used often, because our system is based on debate, not singular vision. The reason so much stock is put in the presidential elections is because it shows the overall opinion of where the country feels we need to be going. I participated willingly when I got an invitation and was fully aware of what I was doing. It was a wonderful experience, with witty lyrics and a powerful message to the world. So please don’t assume we were used, or manipulated. I was more than happy to make a mark in the political world, because now I know I can make a difference in it, even without the ability to vote.

What has us so outraged is the connection with the past. The similarities with Hitlers programs with youths, and yes, I know because my father was part of this program and because Lenin once said “Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.” I would rather live as in Deut 6:6-9, “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. I actually had a law student tell me the other day that aritcle 1. section 8 of the constitution pretty much lets congress do anything it wants based on the ambiguity of “general welfare” in the taxing powers. It’s such a BS liberal interpretation in the first place, but when I asked if it weren’t amended out of the constitution by the 10th, he just ducked. Typical. Seems the goal of all the law schools today is to remove us farther from natural law by way of learning a secret language where you can make the word cat mean dog.
