Reagan Defense Official: If Obama Really Gave the Order to Secure Libya Personnel, ‘There’s a Paper Trail’

A former Department of Defense official said Friday that if President Barack Obama really gave an order to secure U.S. personnel when the consulate in Libya came under assault, there will a paper trail to prove it.

Francis “Bing” West, who served as an assistant secretary of defense under President Ronald Reagan, told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren that the president’s explanation about his actions when the U.S. mission in Benghazi was attacked should be easily verifiable.

“President Obama today said that he gave an order to everyone while the attack was going on to do everything they could to secure the personnel,” West said. “Now that’s really big because that means that those who were turning down [former Navy SEAL] Ty Woods when he was asking for the help were going against the orders of the president of the United States.”

Woods was one of four Americans killed in the Libya assault. Obama on Friday wouldn’t answer directly whether pleas for help on the ground were denied during the attack, telling KUSA-TV, “the minute I found out what was happening, I gave three very clear directives. Number one, make sure that we are securing our personnel and doing whatever we need to.”

“A chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff doesn’t take an order from the president when he says ‘do everything’ and not put that in writing and send it out to the chain of command,” West said. “If that actually happened the way President Obama today said it happened, there’s a paper trail and I think people reasonably enough can say, ‘well can we see the order?’ because hundreds of others supposedly saw this order.”

“But if there is no order then people have to ask some very basic questions, ‘what the heck happened?’” he said.

  Only POTUS could have given the order to stand down as it seems the military was all for going to help in Benghazi…got this from SOFREP and have not seen it mentioned anywhere else:
  
  (From a military source) General Carter Ham as head of Africom received the same e-mails the White House received requesting help/support as the attack was taking place. General Ham immediately had a rapid response unit ready and communicated to the Pentagon that he had a unit ready.
  
  General Ham then received the order to stand down. His response was to screw it, he was going to help anyway. Within 30 seconds to a minute after making the move to respond, his second in command apprehended General Ham and told him that he was now relieved of his command.
  
  The story continues that now General Rodiguez would take General Ham’s place as the head of Africon.

Wait. I am getting confused. I thought the president thought it was a protest. Hillary told the father of Ty Woods that they were going to get the maker of the video. How could Obama have ordered help for the people when he thought it was a simple protest? I don’t think our President even knows what the chain of command is. Is our military going to pretend there is such an order when there is not?

  The Administration has always knowledged that there was an attack, and they claim, due to the intelligence they were receiving, that the protesters were PART to blame for the attack. The day after the attacks, Pres. Obama said that he believed that there were other extreme factions that could be responsible for the attack. In fact, the terrorist org. that claimed responsibility (which was later retracted by them) on Facebook could hardly be taken at the time by the Administration as fully credible. There is no mention in the emails that have been released or in the security requests that the Americans on the ground believed it was a terrorist attack. And, in fact, earlier in the day protests were breaking out in Egypt over the offensive video, and throughout that night and over the course of many days, those protests were breaking out all over the ME. Seems logical that the Administration would think that the protesters of the video were PART of the attack.

Saying “everyone”, “all”, “no one”, etc. are fallacies. They are often used by one who lies. It is much easier to be ambiguous when lying, especially when a lapdog media won’t be persistent. BHO is a narcissist, so platitudes (e.g. hope and change, forward…) give deniability. Someone could suggest that BHO said something specific, but the irony is that the someone tends to project their interpretation of the generality on him. My point is that BHO says a lot of dumb things, often without conviction, but most of the time he says, literally and figuratively, little of substance. Also, “they” does not include him. He delegated because it is beneath him. Unfortunately, “he” is obligated by the office of the presidency to make the decision. This might be why nothing was done? Or maybe reality struck and he froze? He is dangerous and should not be trusted with the presidency.

  The people at the CIA compound had perfect communication ability during the whole attack. They were requesting aid. They put in at least 3 requests for backup. Do you think the CIA hid these requests from the administration? The CIA compound never lost communications. They were screaming for backup. That has nothing to do with emails. This is a real time event. They communicated about the attack and they told them what kind of weapons were being used and what they needed for backup. The requests were denied. This was a 9/11 event. No one even mentioned the video in the middle east until Hillary spent thousands of dollars announcing it on TV and radio over there.

  They had TWO drones with live footage and constant contact from CIA operatives who were pointing out the positions of the terrorists attacking them. NO EXCUSE for letting people die without backup.
  
  Now General Ham of Africom is being relieved of command because he wanted to send in a ready team to save them. He was prepared to push past the order to stand down and go in anyway.

Two possibilities, Stevens was “supposed” to be captured so we would have a trade for the Blind Shiek, OR Stevens was to be “sacrificed” as a gun-runner, rather than the administration being pegged for it as in Fast and Furious. Stevens dead meant they could blame him instead of us blaming them!

Four heros died, many were saved (approximately 26), and this may save an entire country!

  This smacks of a Russian/Iranian connection to stop the gun-running operation. Both Russia and Iran are on the Syrian dictators side. I don’t think our leadership would have been too concerned with the Libian militias capablilities. (I know they may have had the sholder fired missiles) But, we had the capability to ‘stand off’ and fire laser guided missiles at mortar positions. Monday morning quarter-backing is an Obama term, not a prepared military term.
  
  We need to know what was going on to start with! It is starting to look like the bungling of any rescue attempt is just being used to cover up something even bigger. I think Hilliary knows that she has Obama’s “little peanuts” in the palm of her hands. This may be Her set-up for the CIC, since Her people filled the situation room.   Look at this through the eyes of the election. One, Hillary has leaked she is innocent. Petraus has stated the CIA is not to blame. Petraus seems comfortable with his answer. Then we have Secretary of Defense Panetta. Could not risk “in arms way” sending help. We know this is a lie. C130 gunships were available. There’s is no “in arms way” risk with these flying killers. In addition several elite forces who specialize in this disaster were standing by. Although Panetta has lied to us, he is simply covering someone else because if Panetta was truly to blame, Panetta would have resigned to protect Obamas reelection. The we have Obama. Obama says he told them to do everything they possibly could to protect our people. If this statement was true and Panetta did not do all he could by sending at least the C130 gunships, Panetta would be guiltly of gross negliegence, and Obama would have fired him or asked him to step down. We don’t have Obama blaming anyone. We don’t have anyone resigning and taking responsibility. What we have is Obama stating he will not answer any questions about denial of assets sent to defend. The conclusion points to Obama allowing the four heros to be slaughtered. We now know both Panetta and Obama are still lying. Everyone else in the administration has mostly come clean. In the end one can only conclude the Potus slaughtered these heros for whatever reason we do not know.

Listen very carefully to what Obama is saying. “make sure that we are securing our personnel . . . ” That does not sound like a Commander who is directing troops to battle. It sounds like an undertaker looking to collect remains. Obama is a lawyer. If nothing else, he’s clever. Very clever. Too cute by half. He’s trying to leave the impression that the words “make sure that we are securing our personnel,” show he was assisting these Americans when the facts speak for themselves. No one helped them. “Make sure that we are securing our personnel,” is not a command that would be used by any legitimate Commander-in-Chief, it’s the phrase a law lecturer uses in a case study. It’s a lie a coward uses to cover up what he didn’t do.

  A CIA spokesman (presumably at the direction of Petreaus) said “No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate.”
  
  Obama has been playing his usual blame game, but those under him are starting to rebel. Petreaus is a highly experienced combat AND political general, and as such is well-versed in strategy and tactics. He can easily counter the S & T of a small-time Chicago community organizer who has his back to the wall.

  Gary – Go back at your link. The headlines state that Petraeus threw obama under the bus but there is no quotes or indication that he did anything of the sort ! Until I see Petraeus on TV making a statement as to what happened in his own words I stick by my statement – Petraeus is a Coward and a Traitor !

  The General is between a rock and a hard place. If and when he speaks I believe he will be fired by barry, he has to follow orders. I also think he will speak when the time is right.

  The facts that have come out have been leaked by the CIA. If the media would do it’s duty, there would be even more of the truth out there already. Fox news, talk radio, and bloggers are the only ones digging deep so far. Gen. Petraeus is behind the leaks, I believe. He is counting on the American people to put the pieces together.
  
  Now we just need to keep the pressure on, and look for more leaks!

10 days before an election, this should be enough to swing it to Romney. Here is the bad news. My wife is visiting her sister and her husband in Florida this weekend. They watch the evening news, but rarely FNC and never listen to talk radio. My wife was shocked to find out that all they know about this is that an ambassador was killed because of a video on Youtube. They are not stupid people, but they aren’t paying attention and the administration and the national media are making sure they don’t. What’s it going to take to wake this country up?

There are two questions President Obama can answer without an investigation right now–what was Ambassador Stevens doing in Benghazi on 9/11 and who told Susan Rice and Jay Carney to sell the video lie? If he can’t answer this question he is not fit to be a dog catcher in Skokie, IL–never mind the leader of the free world. These are simple questions that should have been answered weeks ago–had they been answered the President would not look like such a horse’s a$@!

It is time for We the People to get up and go to Washington D.C. en masse, and march on the Capitol building–not the White House, for we know the Liar in Chief will refuse to acknowledge us. We need to march up to the Capitol doors and demand that our representatives take action and immediately arrest those who are culpable for setting our people up to die, and for covering it up. We MUST tell our representatives to TAKE ACTION! and we must mean it!

  Even if the Reps in the House tried to do anything, the Dems in the Senate would stop anything from being done. If you want to march on DC and FORCE action to be taken, Boehner’s not the obstacle to impeachment, Harry Reid in the Senate is. March into the Senate building and inform Harry that he needs to step aside or be tossed aside.
