Indiana South Broadway Church of Christ Sign Apparently Vandalized to Read Romney Hates Women

An Indiana church sign was apparently vandalized to read “Romney hates women” on one side and “Christ voted Democrat” on the other, WANE-TV reported.

Pastor Luke Jackson of the South Broadway Church of Christ in Huntington, Ind. told the station that someone rearranged the letters that were already on the marquee and stole the remaining ones sometime late Thursday.

“I had about eight missed calls from church members and people from the community,” Jackson said after the messages were discovered Friday.

He said the authorities had been notified.

Afterward, the sign was changed to read “Jesus said forgive.” Jackson said it was a message from the church community to the purported vandal.

“I would like for them to come and visit us on Sunday, we’ll love to have them,” he said.

Huntington police did not return phone calls to WANE.

  Just so hopefully people will read this, the church of Christ does not refer to it’s ministers as “pastors.” The term “pastor” is a title given to those who are elders.   I doubt your story, but even if it’s for real, that doesn’t mean it was done by a Conservative!   I commented earlier to another posted comment that basically implied that this Church website was questionable too.
  
  I did not follow up, but I WOULD like to know what the sign originally said and whether this is a social justice (Redistribution) church or a true Thou shall not covet thy neighbor’s goods Church. Those would be important and relative facts.
  
  Also, I saw this when I first woke up and don’t remember the headline reading the way that it does. Maybe I should make the coffee stronger tomorrow (If we even have power!).

  Are you talking about the picture of the sign, or the actual sign? Either premise is ridiculous.
  Didn’t you read the story, either? Someone swapped letters on a sign, which is VERY easy to do during the wee hours of the morning. Why would someone go to ridiculous lengths to photoshop a picture, especially when it can be shown that it was photoshopped.

One thing I like to ask those who side with Obama and who try to justify their position by citing our savior, Jesus Christ: Do you believe Jesus would condone the killing of innocent babies while still in their mothers’ wombs?

It’s an easy way to shut down the liberal who ‘thinks’ they are on God’s side. And it’s the reason why I will NEVER vote for a Democrat, because they’ve aligned themselves with those who do the worst kind of evil: killing babies.

  I admit, I grew up in a church of Christ and am a “deaconess” these days in my local congregation, and @Joanofamerica, I have never heard Mr. Beck warn against it.
  
  It should be noted that each congregation of that wears the name “church of Christ” is autonomous, as were the congregations in the New Testament. So, if you’ve had a bad run in with one group, it doesn’t mean that all groups are that way. Just as I’m sure some Methodist, Episcopal, Catholic groups are nutty, and others are made up of nice people doing their best to serve God.

  TruthandFreedom, if anyone is using the 10 Commandments as their foundation then they are under the law of Moses and not under the perfect law of Christ. Christ is our foundation, as He should be! He bled and died for His church. Anyone attempting to follow the 10 commandments are under the old law which does not save (the blood of bulls and goats). You cannot separate the 10 commandments from the rest of the law of Moses they all go together. Yes, I know you’ll probably ask “Well if we don’t follow the 10 commandments then is it ok to steal and kill?” Of course not. It was wrong to steal and kill during Noah’s and Abraham’s times which were way before the 10 commandments were given to the children of Israel. Since we are under the law of Christ it’s still wrong to steal and kill. Let me give you a better example, say you move to Australia (assuming you’re American) just because you moved to Australia does it mean it’s ok to steal and kill? No. Some laws may be different (like driving on the left side of the road). But just because your citizenship changed doesn’t mean you have the green light to do whatever you wish.

  Sorry if I’m wrong but just seems fishy to me that he would not have simply went out and changed the sign right away. Another thing I find fishy is that there just happened to be the correct lettering on the both sides of the sign for the “Vandal” to have spelled out what he wanted. My past background in Law Enforcement for some reason is setting off alarm bells and my gut instinct is usually correct on these type of things. Sorry, but if I were on the case I would immediately put the pastor and his people under suspicion ! By the way, I went to college with a lot of people also and they are not always who you think they are ! Stay knowledgeable my friend , the truth will set you free !

I mentioned to a friend of mine how few Romney Ryan bumper stickers I had seen and he asked me did I have one? – I said that I was afraid someone would key my car at a Walmart ,Safeway etc.. And he said that R/R signs had been stolen in his neighborhood but that his had not been touched. When I asked him why– he said that beneath his he had a hand painted sign that said “I stand for the 2nd amendment – go ahead and “MAKE MY DAY”. We live in Colorado.

  Yes vandalism is a crime. I typically look at vandalism as something that causes damage to property though. In this case it was merely a prank. A stupid prank, but no damage done.

  Yes, i was watched the live broadcast on Tuesday. Anyone can watch the whole debate on C-SPAN’s website. I mentioned the debate a few times on Theblaze comments but there was no story for it.
  
  If anyone wants to see what kind of true change this country needs, watch the 3rd party debate. There will be another one this tuesday with just Gary Johnson and Jill Stein debating each other (socialism vs libertarianism)

  Thanks for posting that actually… I don’t agree with what you say but the thirdparty debate is an important thing for people to see. That debate is more of a debate of ideas than who is more fit for the presidency. Libertarianism over socialism any day, but conservatism over libertarianism.
