Don’t Tell Michelle: Major Obama Donor Warren Buffett Calls War on Soda ‘Silly’ and Reveals the Way He Let Bloomberg Know

He eats ice cream for breakfast. He likes red meat. And he admits he drinks about 60 oz. of Cherry Coke a day. The “he” is Obama superfan Warren Buffett. And while the billionaire is all in for Obama, he was candid on Wednesday about his criticisms of the latest health craze that has New York City banning sugary drinks over 16 ozs.

“In the end, I’ve elected to the foods to eat over the years that I like to eat and I think it’s kept me quite healthy,” Buffett said on CNBC last week. “If I’d been on broccoli and spinach, I would have been gone a long time ago.”

Buffett, by the way, owns holdings in both Dairy Queen and Coca-Cola.

“I drink about 60 oz, about 5 12 oz cans, of Cherry Coke a day,” he explained. “My doctor told me, ‘drink more liquids.’ I said, ‘how about Cherry Coke,’ and he said, ‘That’s fine.’”

As for Bloomberg, Buffett joked about a dinner he had recently with the mayor in which Buffett was sure to have a “great big bottle of Coke, the biggest bottle I could find” brought out so that he could drink it in front of Bloomberg.

“I wasn’t going to let him have any,” he chuckled.

How is this for irony- the guy giving comments on how much he eats and drinks has the last name of an all-you-can-eat type of restaurant?

I know they are pronounced differently, but it is still funny.

Warren Buffet is a progressive snob. He wants to create an environment where he and his elite buddies can remain rich and no one else can climb the ladder. That’s why is such a strong Obama supporter.

Buffet wants everyone else to pay their taxes, but refuses to pay his own. That is a snob.
I didn’t even have to go to Omaha to figure it out either!

And who was the prime source for all these healthy food and drink nonsensical rules? Was it not some lady with the first name of Michelle? Or is her first name ‘First” as in “First Lady”? Maybe she takes her first name too seriously.

Warren I used to think a lot more of you years ago but you had changed to a hard line democrat that hurt jobs to bring forth a hurtful healthcare plan. You are right that people should be in control of their own life no matter if drink or telling kids what to do. The ones that are overweight should be charged through their own healthcare plan at a higher rate but don’t punish those that do the right thing, Warren, keep changing and I may think a lot of you once more as a good advisor,

Bad signal to give youngsters. Just because Buffett got by with this is no sign that millions of overweight kids out there can do the same. Warren was born in 1930 and that places him at about 84 years old but is no sign that all people that do this can get by with it. It’s a very foolish thing to advise anyone to put that much sugar into their body. Stupid is what stupid does.

The PARENTS are the ones who should teach kids how to eat in a healthy way, not the GOVERNMENT.

Yes…Yes…We should have the Federal Government police the sugar intake of all obese children…Heck, let’s just have them police ALL children.

It’s for their own good, afterall.

@Rampart, maybe we should just threaten to make the government raise our children, including diapers, homework, and college tuition. I think they would back off real quick.

They just DO NOT FIT IN. Time to Join the OXY club and get to work Glenn. I think Pat and Stu are probably nice people. But nothing of where Glenn seeks to go Quality. I must speak the TRUTH. You cannot run a Successful Business with your Key People or Person missing as much work as Glenn does.

It must be nice to have so much that you don’t have to worry about the government taking it all away (or enough that it is YOU that have to undergo a lifestyle change to survive)! Me? I’m 65 and still struggling to assure that I’ll have enough that I don’t have some 22 year old beaurocrat deciding what medical care is in sufficient supply that ‘the people’ can afford to waste it on me! I’ll probably continue to work until I’m 70+ (a little underemployed–electrical engineer/MBA presently driving a truck to survive)! I don’t mind, but it sure seems like a waste to society! I wonder what ‘the real cost’ of underemployment is? It’s a ‘lost’ opportunity cost, which I guess is about as economically understandable as the ‘cost’ of a tax reduction or the ‘savings’ of a budget item that is INCREASED less than it’s baseline! Sheesh, almost as ‘honest’ as the lawyers’ ‘Code of Ethics’ (they don’t have one–rather they have a ‘Code of Professional Responsibility’, which has NOTHING to do with ethics! I wonder if doctors and engineers worked to a ‘Code of Professional Responsibilities’ (to themselves), rather than a ‘Code of Ethics’ (which is a standard for the benefit of the client they serve)!
