‘Massive Cover-Up or Massive Incompetence’: McCain Blasts Obama Over Benghazi

While making the rounds on Sunday media programs, Sen. John McCain blasted President Obama over his role in the Libya “debacle,” calling the Commander in Chief’s handling of the brutal terror attack either a “massive cover-up or massive incompetence” — the worst he has ever seen. The former prisoner of war and Vietnam veteran also pointed out a glaring fact: that while some may compare the events in Libya to Watergate, “nobody died in Watergate.”

“This tragedy turned into a debacle and massive cover-up or massive incompetence in Libya is having an impact on the voters because of their view of the commander in chief,” the former Mitt Romney-rival said on CBS “Face the Nation.”

“It is now the worst cover-up or incompetence I have ever observed in my life.”

“Somebody the other day said to me, ‘Well, this is as bad as Watergate.’ Nobody died in Watergate.”

Of course TheBlaze has been chronicling the events and revelations surrounding the administration’s handling of the Benghazi terror attack for weeks, including highlighting the discrepancies between what White House and Defense Department officials have claimed happened and the communications of CIA operatives on the ground in Benghazi at the time of the attack. Questions still abound as to why the Obama administration did not send in reinforcement to our American assets under siege even though requests for help by U.S. operatives at the diplomatic compound and annex were made repeatedly.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said last week it was too dangerous to send troops into Libya after the U.S. compound came under attack. But White House officials said they had not denied requests from Americans in Benghazi for backup.

“Why after a cry for help to Leon Panetta and after the president gave a directive to protect those people … Panetta now claims he told the person to stand down,” Reince Priebus, Chairman of the Republican National Committee asked on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Preibus suggested that the president is either not being “truthful” or that “perhaps Leon Panetta acted as commander in chief.”

McCain, meanwhile, also quipped that he was sure Obama would lead the nation “in fine fashion” during Hurricane Sandy even though he has failed to do so with regard to the Benghazi tragedy that left four, including a U.S. ambassador and two Navy SEALs, dead.

    If Obama was “Insuring to keep people safe” why were 2 people killed on Sept 11th and 2 other killed several hours later on September 12th? When exactly were these people being “kept safe”?

      There are Broke Back Mountain Democrats ( former Dems that have been bent over by Obozo and can’t vote for him in 2012) There are also Muslicrats (Obozo’s base that support Muslim /America Hating remove God from platform philosophy and on and on)

      Benghazi was Treason, Wrapped up with a Massive Cover Up, Stuffed with pitiful incomprehensible incompetence.

    If there were no ARMED assets in Benghazi, Why was Tyrone Woods laser “painting” the targets?

    This was a NAVY Seal, He knows not to expose himself (via painting a target) unless there was an ARMED drone on stand by in the area!

    Obama ordered a “stand down” and had these people killed in the process!

      That’s what I’ve been wondering. Over the weekend, two Democrat Senators on Fox News were directly asked whether the drones were armed, I think it was Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday, and they absolutely refused to answer that question. Then Chris Wallace remarked later on in his show that “They sure looked uncomfortable in being asked that question about whether or not the drones were armed”. HAH! Why not answer that? Maybe one was armed.

      Read more: ‘Rogue’ U.S. General Arrested for Activating Special Forces Teams; Ignoring Libya Stand-Down Order Ask them about General Carter Ham who was ordered to Stand down and surrender control to alleged Al Queda terrorists and let our Americans on the ground die. General Ham ignored those orders and was going to send help when he was arrested and relieved of duty. I read this today and was shocked.

    As a Vietnam-Nam veteran, I think this is a scary situation, Obama is basically telling all current servicemen in dangerous locations, “we will not protect you,”,
    For me that would be a big reason not to join the military, the leaders of my country do not support my defending my country, why should should I go to do my patriotic duty, and defend my country!
    I am sorry that Washington has decided to support Obama’s choice in this issue!
    But the real issue here is, Obama is trying to break the spirit of America, trying to make us not care about the outcome of our future. All he has done is, make me wish he had never taken office!
    Now, I see that politics is playing a game, and writing checks on the American service men and women, and quite frankly it ****** me off!
    This country is getting a bad case of Apathy, and if we don’t wake up quickly, it will be too late!
    As for all the storms and natural disasters happening, I think GOD is sending us a message,
    If you want famine, sickness, and death ….then re-elect Obama!
    GOD is the foundation of our country, it is time to get back on our knees and seek his guidance!

    GOD bless America

    And be in constant prayer, that GOD will wave his hand over our nation, and we will be free of the
    Obama curse. And we can start to heal our country with GOD’s guidance again.

      Bruce not only Obama, but Biden, Clinton, Panetta and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Military Code requires military members to disobey an unlawful order and when Americans have radioed for help it becomes their duty to fellow military members, CIA, Ambassadors and political staff to do everything in their power to help them. This is treason against the American people. The best way for everyone is to bombard the networks and newspapers with emails, faxes and phone calls to demand an investigation now – not later. If they refuse then all sponsors of advertising should be contacted and have it explained by email, telephone and fax that their products will set on the shelfs as they are not Americans.

    Incompetence? No, just arrogance on a galactic scale. He was counting on the lame stream media not reporting on Benghazi at all. Then he thought everyone would buy his story about the you tube movie. Then he thought people would believe that they had no credible intelligence telling them specifically what was going on. Then he…..

    Well, he pretty much thought that the peasants and peons would believe everything coming from his Ministry of Truth. He wasn’t counting on pissed off parents of dead Americans getting all up in arms over their sons’ murders. He thought the lame stream media would cover for him completely.

    Looks like he thought wrong.

      There is audio recording from the consulate that has been labeled Top Secret; there is video from the drone – Top Secret; No action taken for over 7 hours after hostilities were initiated; and the President blamed a PRIVATE AMERICAN CITIZEN for causing the ‘rioting’ – only for us to find out later that the video the private citizen produced was 6 months old, and that there WAS NO rioting.

      Couple THAT with your timeline, Bio, and we have MORE than incompetence – we have a CRIME.

      WOOD: The entire phony video scenario stunk from day one. Reminded me of the lies behind the Zimmerman media witch hunt. They both had an orchestrated, manipulated, calculated aura of untruth screaming out from them. Both also had that Beating A Dead Horse quality to them. MSM over-kill.     Enough is Enough!

    I say we have an independent person like Judge Jeanine, select an independent commission to conduct a full investigation and indict Obama and this Administration…..

    There is no reason whatsoever that there should not be a in depth investigation of this scandal and Barack Obama himself (including his school records, birth certificate, passport and whatever else)

    Remember, before someone is the president, they must be a citizen, correct? This being said, there is enough proof that we have been lied to by this person (Barack Obama).

    The Patriot Act is very clear (it tramples all over OUR rights, including his own rights)

    This “should” be able to be used “AGAINST” Barack Obama as he has obviously deceived the American citizens and in turn “HELPED” the terrorists carry out these attacks in Benghazi by not protecting and serving these people with this authority, sworn duty and obligation.

    Obama is for all practical purposes, in the military himself (Commander and Chief) his actions are no different than if he had killed these people with his own hands. .

    9/11/2001 was bad enough, our own Government attacked the world trade centers on 9 11, it took me several years of denial, research, verification and study (even some therapy to cope with cognitive dissonance) before I myself realized the truth.

    If McCain had put as much energy into the 2008 election, as Sarah Palin put into it, Obama would not be our current President. America would be in fine shape now, instead of spiraling into the depths of H*LL.

    obama and his staff were watching the entire attack in real time in the white house situation room. obama did nothing to help. he was asked repeatedly…..our brave men saved 30 people and begged for help! obama listened and watched for 7 hours…
    what was his response? a campaign trip to Las Vegas!!!!!!
    The attack lasted 7 hours and obama did nothing!!!!
