Chris Christie Gets Emotional About New Jersey Hurricane Devastation – These Aerial Photos Show Why

After first telling a “Fox and Friends” anchor on Tuesday that he didn’t “give a damn” about presidential politics after Hurricane Sandy ravaged the East Coast, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie sent out a series of emotional and sentimental tweets about the destruction seen at the Jersey Shore. It is a side of him that the public has rarely seen.

Business Insider first captured the governor’s tweets:

He then provided some comforting words to the residents of the Garden State:

These aerial photos of the damage at the Jersey Shore published by the New Jersey Governor’s Office show why Christie is so shaken by the natural disaster. As Business Insider observes, “it’s under water.”

“We will rebuild it,” he said. “But for those of us who are my age, it won’t be the same.”

AMAZING AMOUNT OF DAMAGE. I’m praying for those tonight, Please do too. really Low temps… no heat, no light and 8″+ of snow plus basements and streets filled with mud. Talk about a HIT. AND NYC? who would have thought?? Pray for relief.
Franklin Graham (Samaritan’s Purse) is a great org. to add to MERCURY ONE and SALVATION ARMY.. I try to give to all…is en route with track trailers filled with chain saws, tools etc. Mercury One with food and Romney’s Ohio rally today produced food. It doesn’t all have to be $ to RED CROSS…those people need BLANKETS now. I love what HALEY BARBOUR said tonight…Americans are the most generous of all people – neighbor helping neighbor..something we must not ever loose and think the GOBERMANT is gonna replace…the GOBERMANT needs to be down sized more than Bloomberg’s sodas. ROMNEY is wonderful. DEM pollsters were on tonight
Pat Caddell and Doug Schoen. Schoen still tries to back Obama or excuse him, Caddell knows what an SOB he is. The point came out that WE GOT HELP TO THE BRITS UNDER FIRE IN BENGHAZI IN JUNE (RESCUED THEIR AMBASSADOR) IN (wait for it) TWENTY MINUTES!!! BUT we couldn’t get help to our own??? OBAMA thinks he can ride the clock. HE thinks we’ll forget. HE thinks this act of cowardice is going to be forgotten. YEAH. RIGHT! 6 more days!! PRAY HARD!!

Government and the legal system have done so much to drive wedges between us all via politics, and civil law. We need to pray that all people not just those in this disaster find the truth and abandon the evil called government that surrounds us.

Hmm… You mean that Jersey Shore show on MTV with all its fornication, adultery, drunkenness, violence, revelry, out of control partying, envying’s, fighting, riots, chambering, hate, uncontrolled anger, jealousy, lucre, fame, glory, riches, self pride, self righteousness, haughtiness, sexuality, promiscuity, immoderate outfits, backstabbing, irresponsible behavior, childish behavior, aggressiveness, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God, fierceness, ungodliness, blasphemers, covetousness, ETC.? Maybe there’s a reason why this natural disaster hit Jersey Shore. Just saying…

@ swamp donkey. You are one pitiful excuse for a human being. We all feel for the victims of this storm. Unfortunately, comrade Obama has been playing the class warfare game for the past (ever since public record, but most likely since he was in grade school (in Indonesia)) and now the rooster has come home to roost. Many people (most on food stamps) have come to resent anyone with material wealth. WHEN the food stamps end, they will come after the “haves” and will be slaughtered….all because they fell for the communist lie and allowed themselves to be used as pawns.

Having a family house down the shore and growing up going there as a child this is sad. Many have lost homes. Many businesses are gone, but it’s a risk that you take with living so close to the coast. My problem is that we’ll all be paying for this clean up/rebuild through FEMA. People who build homes, businesses, and lives need to realize the risks when they do so, and not impose the risks they are willing to take on anyone else. Yes, this may mean that only the rich can live in certain areas, but so be it. I don’t have a second home, and don’t feel that I need to pay to have anyone’s rebuilt.

To those of you who have no idea who were affected by this storm, they are hard working people who happen to live in a beach town. I grew up in ocean city and they’re not leeching off the govt and are hard working tax payers who pay higher taxes for those homes than most of you posting on here. Don’t pay higher taxes, maybe higher insurance, but having a family house down the shore, it’s really subsidized to what it should be. If you live in a risky area, the government shouldn’t be helping you out. My tax dollars should not be used to take on the risk of someone who wants to live at the beach, or have a summer home there. We need to be responsible for ourselves, and our decisions, and be able to suffer consequences when something like this happens, and not expect to be bailed out or helped from the Government.

I agree dmforman. But once again, the govt and their national flood program has created another program every tax payer pays for and not all can use it. Bit, this is the first time in decades this area has been hit to this extreme. So, it’s not like their blinking the system every hurricane season. Many will be paying out of their own pockets like my parents and their personal insurance.

I live in the Southeastern U.S. We have hurricanes like this all the time. The iconic amusement park of my childhood was also wiped out in Myrtle Beach a few summers ago. The difference is in the South, we don’t get national press the way Chris Christie has. In the South, we clean up our own mess and do so without whining or needing national feedback and sympathy. If the South can teach you Yankees one thing, it’s to be humble. You never know when your time is coming. This time, it was YOUR turn. God be with you.

First, thoughts and prayers go out to those in all of the storm ravaged areas that were killed, injured, temporarily removed from their homes, and/or had property damaged. Coming from the Gulf Coast of Texas, we know this kind of human and property devestation. We feel for you.

However, in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, we unfortunately get to witness this first hand every few years or so. We know it sucks. You WILL get past it. People and homes are the most important, and the Boardwalk and roads may look a little different, but can be re-built.

@ Lind – you do realize that those “gov’t ” funds come out of the pockets of the rest of us right? Why should the rest of us have to pay ? I don’t mind helping out but I am really ticked off beyond measure having to foot the bill for all of this – You want to live on the beach – great – you want to have a business on the beach – great – but when nature comes calling – stop raping my wallet. Gov’t is not charity and there is no gov’t money without taking it from me and my other tax paying Americans.

Folks were much more responsible for themselves and their neighbors before the Feds wrested control from We the People and the States -

If the Fed would stay out of my wallet – I would have much more money to put towards actually helping real people

Did you see the story that the gov’t spends $60,000 per household year for welfare – if that is the case – how can there still be poor people??

WOW… “I don’t feel sorry for them” ” I can’t afford a beach front home so I don’t care if theirs burns”… GO BACK AND READ JESUS’S PARABLE about the workers who worked all day vs. the guys hired at the last minute. See if you can learn anything.
It’s also like: It doesn’t matter to the money YOU give out of your generosity..the point is GOD knows your heart and that you gave. What happens to it is not your concern. Intelligence tells us we don’t want it wasted; we don’t respect people who can work – but don’t; (they’ll have to answer for that)
But right this very moment we have people who are probably hungry, probably very cold, probably very afraid and damnit…they are AMERICANS !
Sure, next time they can build up on stilts (as they do in a lot of Florida beach areas now) and they don’t have to build in river bank areas that overflow every 4 years (unless on stilts) but GOD allows things to happen not just to help victims learn and grow character but for those of us observing.
GOD OWNS everything, dude, and HE tells you to LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.
I hope everyone who is grousing about helping will think about that Parable. WE ALL NEED HELP FROM TIME TO TIME. GOD BLESS AMERICA -AGAIN.

I would think that these citizens having lived on the shore had to carry a substantial homeowners policy AND flood insurance. I hope every one of them will hold their insurance company’s feet to the fire and not let these organized extortionists off the hook. Make them pay up & in no way should FEMA $$ be allowed to compensate for the payouts that the insurance crooks should have to pay.

Yea let FED $$ pay for the community damages etc, but these insurance slimeballs need to pay for the people (their clients) that have been paying in for many years.

These extortionists charge out the ying-yang & will hound you when your late on a payment, but god forbid they have to pay out.

Now what they’ll do is like they did here in Fl after the 3 consecutive hurricanes we had here in 05. They drop coverage and then create another firm, then tell you oh, company XYZ will write you but it going to cost you more. …What a racket.

@mercenary4freedom I agree. Most insurance companies bank on things like this NOT happening. They would rather just collect our money year to year to year and have nothing happen. Unfortunately, they will recoop their loses by raising rates on everyone nation wide who has insurance…and you’re right, FEMA should be for public holdings only. Houses should be paid for by insurance companies. I know unless you own your house outright, you are required by law to have insurance. Every bank demands it.

Very Very Very sad. But it just “things”. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness will allow the residents to rebuild, and restore their lives. Usually, after a major restoration of our lives, after a major illness, after a major accident, after a major loss, we tend to “live” more to the fullest, and be ever grateful for every minute of peace and tranquility. About 85% of the worlds population lives within 60 miles of a coast. A storm this large can go on to damage areas much further in than 60 miles. So this could happen to most people on the planet. Have some compassion people.

Never be afraid to fall apart because it is an opportunity to rebuild yourself the way you wish you had been all along.

This is a great opportunity for Obama to show his concern for the people in need. He could contribute $5,000,000 to the Red Cross. All he has to do is provide college records and Passport records to Donald Trump and name the Red Cross as the charity.

Oh and Christie .. Obama would not give a **** about any of you if it were not for the election a week away .. What about BENGHAZI? .. WHEN DO WE THE PEOPLE GET THE TRUTH ON THAT!

Well said. Obama could have a cool $5 million in his hands and donate it to the Red Cross but of course he can’t do that since he doesn’t want anyone to see his college transcripts or his passport records so that’s not going to happen. He’ll go up there tomorrow, all for the sake of getting reelected and trying to look presidential. He could give a damn about these folks except VOTE for me. Me…l..Me…Me…I….I…I. As someone was saying tonight on Fox News, he took time off from campaigning due to Hurrican Sandy but couldn’t take time off after the attack on the consulate in Benghazi. Headed right on out to Vegas. He is a disgusting, evil, communist man.

And don’t forget while Romney is now telling supporters to instead of contributing to his campaign, send the $$ to the relief fund for these victims in NJ while Mooch Obama sends out a message today asking their supporters to contribute what they can to them for the campaign. Haha, The 1st Mooch doesn’t want to have to give up those million dollar vacays that we pay for now does she/?

Wow, NJ has it’s work cut out for it. Good that they have one of the best governors around. They could be stuck with our Gov. Brown…NJ would forever remain in ruins.

    2 Chronicles chapter 7, verses 14 &15
“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.”
