LOUISVILLE, Ky. (TheBlaze/AP) — Kentucky State Police say the two children who were killed in a tragic school bus crash were both 3 years old.
Police identified the young victims from Monday’s crash as Ryder Deitz and Caroline Tuttle, both of Carrollton.
Police say the boy and girl were pronounced dead at the scene after a Carroll County school bus carrying students home from the Head Start preschool program overturned and crashed into a tree.

The crash occurred on a narrow country lane in Carrollton and remains under investigation.

Posted on October 30, 2012 at 9:37pmI think all buses should have seat belts………just the fact that the driver could have a heart attack, and you have 50 people flying thru the bus……..never understood why they don’t………”

Posted on October 30, 2012 at 10:25pmJust for clarification, this bus did have seat belts and it’s been confirmed that all of the children were buckled. Unfortunately the type of impact that this was, where the tree nearly embedded itself into the cab of the bus, wasn’t one of those accidents where a seat belt would be of any use to the two little children that were killed.
That being said,I don’t disagree that all school buses ought to have seat belts.

Posted on October 30, 2012 at 8:37pmHere in CA those buses have seat belts and car seats for the little ones but that crash does not look like it would have saved them. RIP little ones.

Posted on October 30, 2012 at 8:25pmYes, it is tragic. They keep making buses & busing safer except on the inside. they have the laws prohibiting passing a stopped bus. They paint the roofs white. They have the extending arms.booms so the driver can see if there are children in front f the bus.
But where are the seat belts? Where is the padding on the back of bus seats? They are bare metal.
I suggest that we home school all kids. Graduation rates in the major cities could not get worse.

Posted on October 30, 2012 at 10:29pmThis style of bus has seatbelts. These children (ALL of them according to first responders and state police) had those seatbelts on. The nature of the collision just made those seatbelts irrelevant for those two children.

Posted on October 31, 2012 at 5:13amThe seat backs are padded foam under vinyl. Most seat backs are too tall to see over. Even if there were seat belts installed and properly used this type of accident would have devastating consequences for all on board. The top is painted white more for reflecting the sun’s heat. Over all the safety of bus riding with a professional driver at the wheel is much safer than a distracted motorist with several screaming children. I should know. I am a professional with almost 25 yrs citation free driving. Learn your facts before spewing your crap.

Posted on October 30, 2012 at 7:33pmWow, this is tragic. I’ve got two small kids that ride the bus and this breaks my heart. As others have said, the only comfort is that we know they are now with a loving Heavenly Father.

Typical leftist tactic. Take the passage completely out of context and pretend that’s all there is.
Read the rest of the 137th Psalm and you shall be proven foolish. Read the rest of The Bible and you shall be truly enlightened.
Someone who is as biased and angry as you are should start with Proverbs first, so that you might learn how to comprehend the rest.

Posted on October 30, 2012 at 8:16pmOne of the children who survived the Carrollton bus crash (in the 80′s) was Harold Dennis,, who had unspeakable burns – he survived, walked on the University of Kentucky football team and became an inspiration for many in the state of Kentucky.
I’m from Lexington Ky, beautiful city and people, so I take great pride in the good things the state offers – versus the stereotypical views many have of Eastern Ky. Romney can count on Ky – Red state all the way.
I pray these kids and their families have comfort and healing.

I believe these children will be met by Jesus Christ with open arms, as they were still in there innocence.

Posted on October 30, 2012 at 11:00pmThere is early head start which takes infants and ages out at 3 y.o. At that time, they may be eligible to enter into head start which takes ages 3 thru 5. The 5 year olds are usually ones who are not old enough to make the kindergarten age cut in that particular school district. The busses we have here are all padded and have the 5-point belt systems. The special education pre-school busses also are similarly set up. I have children that ride both. Unfortunately, there are just some accidents that belts cannot save anyone from. My thoughts and prayers to the families.
