Chris Matthews Calls Global Warming Skeptics ‘Pigs’ During Hurricane Sandy Rant

MSNBC host Chris Matthews went on a wild rant against those who don’t believe in man-made global warming in the wake of Hurricane Sandy Tuesday. During his excoriating comments, Matthews targeted the left’s favorite super-villains — the Koch brothers — in particular.

Speaking with Congressman Ed Markey (D-MA) and Michael Oppenheimer of Princeton University, Matthews began by warning that “there’s no other planet to go to if the atmosphere begins to be destructive of our living here.”

Congressman Markey wasted no time in referencing the Koch brothers, saying they want to keep “tax breaks” for big oil but “do away” with breaks for alternative forms of energy, and that they’d keep us dependent on foreign oil by modifying fuel efficiency standards.

Matthews interjected:

“Well, Professor Oppenheimer, back in the ‘60s, we called such people pigs. Pigs. No, really, they don’t care about the planet, they don’t care about the destruction of war. All they want is what they got, their stuff. And they want more of it.

“Is that what we’re facing here, just greed? I’m not talking about the guy working in the coalmine. That’s hard work. I’m talking about people who won’t listen to you, won’t listen to science because they want more stuff.” [Emphasis added]

Even Professor Oppenheimer seemed a little uncomfortable by the turn of events, telling Matthews he isn’t big on “name calling.”

Newsbusters’ Noel Sheppard spoke with Mark Holden, Senior VP and General Counsel of Koch Industries about the interview, and related:

“Representative Markey’s comments about Koch’s views on corporate subsidies were false – we are on the record as opposing all subsidies, including subsidies to oil companies. Likewise, Rep. Markey, who opposes expanded oil and gas exploration and production in the US, falsely claims that Koch is somehow increasing dependence on oil from foreign countries, ” said Holden via email.

According to Koch Family Foundations, Sheppard adds, the Koch brothers have pledged or given roughly $1 billion to “further cancer research, enhance medical centers, support educational institutions, sustain arts and cultural institutions, and conduct public policy studies.”

Holden reportedly concluded by noting that Matthews has something of a “reputation” for making “emotional and ill-advised comments.”

The fact that America has cut it’s CO2 emissions in half over the last few years despite ignoring all the Left’s calls for greater regulation of emissions really chaps his ass. Our actually exceeding their emission goals without following their BIG GOVERNMENT RELIGION calls into question all their beliefs. Free enterprise is the answer to every question, not Socialism.

  The agenda is far more dangerous to your family than just the purported “global warming” claim. We have 300 elite planning the death of 6 billion on planet earth under a doctrine of population control. This will be accomplished through war and starvation.   Ron Paul could not stop a beach ball from deflating…what you predict cannot be stopped no matter who is in office. Isolationist policy was the doctrine before WWI and WWII…Wilson reversed course on that policy for a variety of reasons, none of them had to do with doing the right thing. The Japanese ended the US neutrality (which was a farce due to lend lease to UK and Russia) hoax and I will give Roosevelt some credit for getting the US as ready as he could (behind the scenes with the civilian pilot training program etc) during the period from Sept 39 to Dec 41. Being passive in the next WW is a recipe for annihilation…..no thanks. Many others agree which is why RP could not nor will he ever win the nomination with his outlandish dangerous FP notions. A proactive strong military is the only thing keeping this current world from falling apart. Economic chaos combined with isolationist policies from the USA/West are what allowed Germany to radicalize, rearm and finally launch the second world war…….the lesson from history is clear, act now and save lives or act latger and lose many more lives. Never again was term coined in the aftermath of WWI…that peace lasted less than generation. We already know that certain Volkswagen and Ford engines get such super gas mileage that the government will not allow them to be sold here. Volkswagen and Ford both build cars with these small four cylinder engines for export only here. They get such good mileage that the government cannot make the tax money from gas sales that they prefer. I will not put a ring in anybody’s nose and lead them to the articles, you can look this up yourselves in your own search engines. But, I first read these articles from the post of others here some months ago. These mileage requirements from the government are BS.

  Benghazi takes its place in history next to the Alamo and Little Big Horn. The difference being that there was nothing the military could do to help the earlier massacres. Of course if there was a way to help those earlier defenders the military commanders who could have done something would not have been relieved of command by an anti-American President in order to prevent the rescue attempt.

This World has been around for a lot of centuries and it will not stop because Chris says so. We have change in weather patterns all the time and yes eventually there will be an end to this World but not because of a the so called science but because it was time. How many invest in global warming stuff could that be the reason for more of Chris outburst.   That’s right, all that crap that comes from the earth, and we pump into the air, get washed out of the air with rain, and snow. Then goes back into the earth. Nature has a filter system, that all your government paid scientist can’t even come close to figuring out. Oil, and coal are green energy, they are made naturally by the earth. They are also, renewable energy sources, because the earth has never stopped making them. I also believe that it produces them faster than we can use them. By the way, I’m all for wind, and solar. As long as it’s developed by private sector means. the same as oil, and coal were.
