Father of Another Benghazi Victim Demands Answers: My Son ‘Dialed 911 for Help and They Wouldn’t Help’

As Congress steps up its efforts to get answers from a reluctant Obama administration about the terrorist attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, another father of one of the Americans killed in the attack is speaking out. Understandably, he wants answers.

Rene “Ray” Smith’s son, Sean Smith, a State Department official, was one of the four Americans killed in Libya when terrorists overran the U.S. compound in a sophisticated and pre-planned attack.

“He was murdered. He was murdered,” Smith told WTSP. “I want them to get the people who did this.”

But the grieving father wants more than just revenge. He wants the White House to explain exactly what happened in Libya on Sept. 11 and why repeated calls for help were denied.

“They haven’t done anything. My son and them dialed 911 for help and they wouldn’t help them…I want whoever did this, whoever didn’t answer their phone, I want them brought to justice too,” Smith added.

Smith, a former U.S. Marine, like many Americans, is also angry over the lack of honesty and transparency from the Obama administration following the Benghazi attack. He reportedly reached out to Rep. C.W. Bill Young (R-Fla.) and asked for help in getting to the truth. The father found a willing ally.

“He wants answers. Just like the rest of the country,” said the Congressman.”They want to know why these American heroes were asking for help and being denied the help?”

Smith had reportedly been estranged from his son for more than 10 years, but the dad was trying to reach out to his son before he was killed. “I was trying hard,” he said.

However, some good may come out of this unthinkable tragedy. Smith plans to connect with other family members in California, including Sean’s two children — his grandchildren.

“I loved my son very much,” said Smith. “He was extremely intelligent. And he did not deserve this.”

Ray Smith’s son may get permanent memorial at the Bay Pines V.A. Hospital, according to Young.

Attempts by TheBlaze to contact Smith were unsuccessful.

  Obama keeps saying he’s trying to find out what happened, that he’s gathering all information. The attack occured on September 11, it’s now October 28. Well, what the hell was he doing the day it happened? How about the day after? He’s declining to answer anything because it’s less than two freaking weeks away from the elections! He’s a coward. Four Americans died on his watch, and he still doesn’t know what the hell happened? Obama isn’t saying a thing but that he’s still trying to figure stuff out. The President of the US of A doesn’t know what went down? LOL. He’s freaking lying. Obama didn’t have the balls to call those attackers terrorists, or Islamic extremists. He took the low road, played it politically correct, and acted like a coward. He said he was going to bring those responsible to justice. Well, he had them in sight on that day, and he let them go.   I get too up set & my blood starts to boil when I think about the mind set of this administration. Here it is in a nut shell.
  They did not wan’t the military to get involved because they are not willing to label this an act of war. They were willing to sacrifice our people because to them it was more important to keep the military out of it & try to cover it up with deception in order to somehow make this a law enforcement issue.
  
  Just like the gun running scandal in Mexico where they hoped to blame gun violence on America to get harsher gun laws they are trying to develop a global police force to control the world! Obama said it his self “We will need a security force with a budget the size of the military” to enforce the kind of change he was thinking of!
  So you see their is no mystery here it is a clear pattern. Never let a tragedy go to waste!

  Mary honey? The man in THIS story was working at the embassy. He didn’t disobey any orders. He happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and was “collateral damage” in the deliberate assignation of Ovomits friend American Ambassador Christopher Stevens. His calls for help were deliberately not answered because I believe it was a planned assignation.
  
  Look at the evidence: The attack on the embassy happens. 2 seals see it and call for back up. They are told to not engage. After hearing the attacks go on, they can’t in good conscience ignore it and decide to disobey orders and in a heroic attempt, are killed. The White House releases a statement that it was not a terrorist attack and blames a stupid video.
  
  Had those brave seals not gotten involved and only the Ambassador and Sean were killed, they would have been able to covered up and get away with saying it was an uprising over the video.
  
  I’m betting the people in the “situation” room were mad when they saw the 2 seals go in but had the video story already planned (remember, the video was 4 months old at the time) so they had to go with it and it’s now backfiring BIG TIME. I know it’s a conspiracy theory but it fits if you think about it.

  Ok one last time. There is an investigation ongoing. They aren’t going to release information on anything till it is complete. Anyone remember the 9/11 commission? How long did that take to get done? And that happened in America. This happened in another country. This is the government of the United States it is always a slow processes.

My heart goes out to the fathers, mothers, and family members of those who begged for help in Libya.
It seems Obama is more interested in his campaign, and Sandy, then what he should be doing, and that’s….’Admitting he was wrong, made a mistake, and ready to face the consequences.’ Those consequences, should be jail time for all those involved in the Libyan controversary.

C: Eric Holder
D: Leon Pinetta
E: Generals in charge (stripes and medals removed)
and just for grins…. let’s go ahead and arrest
F: Nancy Pelosi, as she’s as underhanded as all concerned and wasted too much tax payer money.

From the very beginning, Obama has been a slacker, and today, he’s still incompetitent. He may be helping Chris Christie, but he has more on his plate to answer for. We don’t forget, and come next Tuesday we will show him.
God bless each of the families who lost loved ones in Libya and please let them know American’s don’t forget. At least Republican, conservative’s, don’t forget. Our prayers and thoughts are with each of the families.

  Panetta needs a special cell because he specifically lied when he said we could not send anyone in because you don’t do that without knowing what they are up against. Bull Sh@t on that one! Anyone in today’s reaction units will tell you that if there is trouble, then you just go and figure it out on the ground, just like the two ex-Seals did. They got everyone back to the Annex safely (except Smith who was already dead) and would probably be alive today if we had immediately sent in those reaction forces (boots and aircraft).   there were people who allegedly tryed to help disobeying orders..but somehow they are dead(2 marines) or were relieved of command.i can see the point of view that as a soldier it is your duty to no matter what obey your orders, and the commander in chief gives the ultimate orders, but it is morally wrong to obey orders that force you to let people die

Gaouelle has been fired which is unprecedented of a powerful US Navy Commander during wartime. He is being sent to Bremerton, Washington because of allegations of inappropriate leadership judgment and he’s being investigated by the Navy Inspector General. WOW. He is being replaced by Rear Admiral Troy M Shoemaker

General Joseph Dunford ,who was under General Cater Ham, is being sent to Afghanistan to replace General Allen.

General Carter Ham was in command of the INITIAL 2011 US-NATO military intervention in Libya.
