Gingrich: Senator Told Me Networks Have Emails From White House Ordering Team to Stand Down on Benghazi Rescue

UPDATE: The Obama administration has denied that anyone at the White House nixed any requests for assistance in Benghazi.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Tuesday a U.S. senator told him that at least two news networks have emails from the White House ordering a counterterrorism team to stand down on a rescue mission at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

“There is a rumor — I want to be clear, it’s a rumor — that at least two networks have emails from the National Security Adviser’s office telling a counterterrorism group to stand down,” Gingrich told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren. “They were a group in real-time trying to mobilize Marines and C-130s and the fighter aircraft, and they were told explicitly by the White House ‘stand down and do nothing. This is not a terrorist action.’”

He continued, “If that’s true, and I’ve been told this by a fairly reliable U.S. senator, if that’s true and that comes out in the next day or two, I think it raises enormous questions about the president’s role, Tom Donilon, the National Security Adviser’s role, the Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, who has taken it on his own shoulders, that he said don’t go. And I think that’s very dubious, given that the president said he had instructions they are supposed to do everything they could to secure American personnel.”

Gingrich said if accurate, it leaves two conclusions: that the the secretary of defense usurped the commander in chief or that Obama never gave the order.

“I think you are going to see this come back tomorrow and the next day,” he said.

Gingrich said he thinks Benghazi will be “enormous in terms of the election,” saying that he’s been to multiple places where voters want to know what happened.

“[Benghazi] was suspended for two days by the storm coverage, which dominated everything, but I think tomorrow as the storm begins to recede, you’ll see Benghazi come back,” he said

I think it’s plausible that Panetta did get the directive from Obama. Panetta checked with the president – Jarret and she said no, just like the hit on Bin Laden. Guess they didn’t feel comfortable stepping on her toes twice.

  Stevens was helping and supplying this very group that attacked the building. I think he knew he was going to be kidnapped in a staged attack. No one was supposed to get hurt. Then there would be a heroic negotiation by Obama to resolve the crisis (in exchange for the blind shiek). Slam dunk election!
  But, two Navy Seals decided to go help and screwed up the plan. They probably put up a helluva a fight against 150 heavily armed militia.
  I bet the people in on this were just hoping it would somehow turn out. Imagine if they had called in the C130 on militia that had been put up to this! Obama had to sit on his hands and figure out a cover story.

  Well, CNN got Stevens’ diary, so why not? The MSM won’t give that info away, because unlike the diary, those emails WILL cost Hussein the election (that’s assuming he doesn’t cheat his way back into the Oval Office anyway).
  
  Emails or not, Hussein told them to step down, because only three former SEALs (I am assuming the wounded hero was also a SEAL) took off from the CIA annex to save those who were being attacked at the Consulate. If Hussein had ordered the military to do whatever they needed to do to keep Americans safe — as the LIAR claims — there would have been more than three men fending off about 150 jihadists for seven hours.

  I don’t think it was a botched kidnapping attempt. I think it was an assassination. Obama didn’t send anyone in until it was verified that Stevens was dead. He didn’t care about collatoral damage (meaning the other three that died). But that’s just my personal opinion for 4 years active duty. My husband with 20 years active duty thinks Stevens was running guns and that’s what got him killed.

  Leon Panetta, the Secretary of Defense, states that he and “the Generals” all agreed that it was to dangerous to go in. So what happened to Obama’s order???? Obama stated CLEARLY has gave an order to secure our personel. However as we all know NOBODY went in to help them. Did Panetta refuse to follow the Presidents order or did Obama lie when he stated he gave the order?

  I saw somewhere that General Ham, Commander of African Operation relieved of duty for trying to save our guys,Also Rear Admiral Gaovetteof the Mideast Aircraft Carrier Group likewise relieved of duty.Does anyone have ANY information on this and can confirm it.If so, this NEEDS to get to the American People and may sink Obama’s **** faster than anything else.I truly wish one of our Senators would check into this and get this out if it is so! Admiral Goulette was with his carrier group in Thailand and didn’t get into the Gulf region until October 17th. He was NOT going to help General Carter Ham with the attack..he was nearly 1000 miles away…
  
  The Admiral is supposedly under investigation for allowing certain activities by those under his command during their shore leave in Thailand and Malaysia.
  
  Now there might have been some other issues with the Admiral and his comments about Obama and a second term..that is unknown at this time…but IF he did or was planning to overthrow Obama if he won..then the Admiral SHOULD be arrested and tried for Mutiny and Treason.
  
  The Military Oath is to the Constitution..regardless of the outcome of an election, a military Line Officer can not plan a coup d’ette against the President. If the GOP claims foul due to fraud, the Court system must settle it.. NOT the military…that would just turn us into any other third world craphole country with no rule of law…

  The AFRICOM commanding general, Carter Ham, who was arrested for trying to help Benghazi anyway, reports directly to SecDEF Panetta. That means ONLY Panetta or CnC Obama could have relieved him of command and no SecDEF is going to arrest a field commanding general without talking to the President FIRST The orders that PREVENTED help from arriving at Benghazi, thereby guarantying the enemy success, came from the White House, there is no other possible source. The chain of command gets real short at that level, so do the places to hide from responsibility.
  
  Obama personally PREVENTED help from reaching the defenders at Benghazi. He let those men die when he could have save them, that is TREASON and COWARDICE in the face of the enemy.

  I think it was less about stepping on Val’s hammer toes and more about Obama doing anything (incl. letting Americans die) to avoid the world seeing American assets killing camel terrorists, esp. in Libya. He gambled on that ragtag Libyan “brigade” saving his ****, then he’d brag about what a great overnight success and ally libya was, thanks to his leadership in the region. There was either an armed drone, gunship or both in the area. Why else would Ty Woods be painting the mortar positions? The few outlets that are on this must not let it go and we need to expose it BEFORE Tuesday’s election. Obama cannot be allowed to get away with this act of treason.

  We can only hope…but, that only works if the Rep’s gain the majority in the Senate because an impeachment trial happens in the Senate. If the Dem’s keep the majority, Dirty Harry Reid will remain the majority leader. Do you really believe dirtyHarry will bring it up? And even if he did, how many Dem-wit Democratic Senators will vote against their Socialist messiah a.k.a. ‘the one’ (an impeachment requires a 2/3 majority vote). The house may vote for the Senate to begin Impeachment proceedings (as well they should) but, that’s as far as it will go. At least, that’s how I understand it. That is why it is so important to vote for more Conservative Repub’s for the Senate as well as Romney.

  The highest cost is LIVES. My son-in-law and nephew are Marines and they are so upset about this they cannot even talk about it. It is the worst thing a President has LET happen in the Nation and anyone that supports this maniac is just as guilty as the President. The real question is why was the Ambassador allowed to be killed and what was the diplomat from Turkey doing there right before this all took place? We need answers before something like this happens again. Angry because your boy is in trouble over Ambassador-gate? Spelling is just a skill. I am dyslexic. If you don’t understand me, I’ll try to clarify, but if you got a problem with my spelling, too bad. While I try to be clear in what I say, I don’t post to impress you. I can do a lot of practical things you will never be able to do, and I have a broader skill set than anyone I’ve ever met who is an excellent speller, puncutater, etc.
