Politicians Lambaste Obama Admin After Libya Attack Suspect Transferred to Tunisia Where U.S. Officials Can’t Interrogate Him

The Tunisian man arrested over the deadly terror attack in Benghazi that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens, his aid Sean Smith, and two Navy SEALs dead has now been identified through facial recognition software as having been present at the U.S. diplomatic outpost during the siege, senior U.S. intelligence officials told Fox News Tuesday. The only problem is that Ali Ani al Harzi, who was detained at a Turkish airport in the days following the attack for travelling with false documents, has now been transferred to Tunisia, where U.S. interrogators are unable to reach him.

Sen. Saxby Chambliss, frustrated by the incident, blames the Obama administration for U.S. officials being unable to access the Tunisian militant, who may have ties to al Qaeda.

“This individual in the hands of Tunisians is a classic example of what happens when you have lack of policy for detention for interrogations,” the Georgia Republican said.

“Once the president in January of 2009 signed the executive order, saying we are going to shut down Guantanamo … there are no policies in place to take possession and interrogate him in a way to gain valuable information.”

Former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton agrees. During an interview with Greta Van Susteren on Tuesday, the longtime statesman joined Sen. Lindsey Graham in calling for a potential suspension of aid to Tunisia unless the country grants the U.S. access to Harzi.

“I don’t know what the total supply of foreign aid going into Tunisia is now, but I would be looking at substantial reduction if they don’t start cooperating, beginning tomorrow,” Bolton told Van Susteren.
NewsMax adds that, earlier in the broadcast, Graham said that he was “stunned to hear the Tunisians are denying us access to question this man [Harzi]” and that he is currently questioning officials at the Tunisian Embassy in Washington.

Of course, the senator also suggested that Harzi might be connected to al Qaeda.

“It would be very disturbing if al-Qaeda operatives in Libya can talk to al-Qaeda operatives in Tunisia. That shows they have a regional effect,” Graham said. He indicated that if such a level of coordinated communication exists, it would be troubling.

During the interview, Graham broached the subject of suspending foreign aid to Tunisia in an effort to spur the country’s authorities.

“I’m the ranking Republican on our foreign aid subcommittee on appropriations. You know, we’re in charge of the money,” he told Van Susteren.

“I’m going to ask the Tunisians why can’t we have access to this person that we believe was involved in the attack on our consulate.”

Meanwhile, Fox reports that The State Department has thus far not offered a comment on why access to Harzi is being obstructed by Tunisian authorities.

  This is an incomplete report. Who had custody of him? Turks? Why would the Turks turn over a person of interest in the killing of a US ambassador to his home country without even letting us talk with him? Aren’t they our “partners” in NATO? Why hasn’t the POTUS made a statement of disapproval of this action. This would be a major blow to his “ongoing investigation”?

It could be because the Tunisian government should not be under any legal or moral authority to grant access. But then again, I believe in limited government.

It is obvious to the public that this admin covers up everything from fast and furious gun-running to gun-running in Libya.   I believe that OBAMA (or whomever he is) was groomed, schooled and put into office in order to destroy America. I believe that every act he’s made, everything he’s said has been to demoralize; injure; undermine and destroy America. Destroy our Constitution; our way of life; our economy and our ability to defend ourselves. I believe that nothing he has done is by accident. I believe this terrible man will do and has done everything he can to make sure he can get elected again.
  IF BENGHAZI was identified as what it was A TERRORIST ATTACK…it would ruin his chances for reelection. That is why he never would allow Ft. Hood to be called a Terrorist Attack. The hell it wasn’t. NOW OBAMA is trying to call Benghazi a CRIME but not a TERRORIST ATTACK. HE will stop at nothing to try to hide the fact that we are still being attacked and his bloody administration has been totally UNSUCCESSFUL in PROTECTING AMERICA.
  I now believe he is the ANTI-CHRIST. IF he wins, he is for sure the ANTI-CHRIST. I am not stupid. I have a grand IQ – I can connect the dots. I’m not hysterical.   PATTY, I agree with most of what you have said, but I believe the muslim-in-chief is anti-christ in spirit, and is setting the table for the entrance of the anti-christ. The scripture ROM 8:28 tells us that “all things work together for good”, and by this, I feel we were given this man as a wake up call telling us to return our hearts and minds to the Lord or suffer His judgment. As I’ve posted many times before, this nation has become the most immoral, wicked and corrupt in its history, and we’ve become a culture that believes in humanism rather than believing in our Creator. I and many of my Christian friends called him evil before the election of 2008. I do believe that if he remains in office, not only will this nation deteriorate and decay further, but it is another sign that the Day of the Lord is drawing closer as the US loses its standing in the world. Keep your eyes on Israel for when the first wars begin. And, know the victory has already been won through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Barry obama wanted the ambassador captured and everyone held hostage. He did not count on SEALs refusing his stand-down orders and going to fight at the consulate. The whole thing was a set up he and he had a deal with Al Qaeda. They would attack with overwhelming force, the ambassador and others would surrender, be taken hostage,…and obama would free them through tough talk and maybe even giving them the blind sheik; then obama would look like a hero just before the election. It backfired when red blooded SEALS went to the defense of the consulate. Obama is playing cover-up. This is my opinion but I feel time will show I am right.

  The staged kidnapping makes the most sense. Look at Sean Smith’s message earlier …”assuming we don’t die tonight…” he knew what was going down. This would have been a staged replay to redeem Carter’s failure to rescue hostages and bolster Obama’s commander in chief credentials.
  Look how hard they are covering up. If this were something less treasoness Obama would have just thrown someone under the bus. They must be applying a ton of pressure to keep this quiet. Shame on the media for giving Obama a pass. I hope the media pays for complicity in this treason.

First of all why are we funding Tunisia? Secondly since we are giving them money don’t just ask for suspension of funding tell them to give the U.S. access to this man or else there will be no more money as of yesterday.
I would lay a wager that team Obama made damn sure no one from the U.S. could interrogate this person. Too many secrets to keep and this terrorist just might spill the beans if he was in American hands.

  Well, firstly, when you poll people who get their news from MSNBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, or The Daily Show, you’ll not find too many folks who even know all the horrible stuff their president has done to them and their nation, so POLLING is no way to find out if he’s a good leader.
  
  Secondly, the only terrorist he’s gone after was Bin Laden, and that was such a no-brainer it isn’t even funny, and even THEN he had to be told 3 times to do it because he was too scared of upsetting Valerie Jarrett who told him not to.
  
  If he had any REAL marbles, he’d have dusted the streets of Benghazi the second there was trouble and protected our citizens foremost and above all. But when you’re the guys SELLING guns to Al Qaeda, it’s hard to take action to save the ones who you sent there to sell them.

  What poll are you looking at? Every poll I checked shows Romney leading the popular vote, and the electoral vote still undecided. As for Obama being hated….45% of this country is republican, and openly appose Obama, his decisions, his policies, and half truths.
