Tree Uprooted by Hurricane Sandy Reveals Human Skeleton
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (TheBlaze/AP) — New Haven police say superstorm Sandy has revealed a skeleton beneath the town green that may have been there since Colonial times.
Police spokesman David Hartman says a woman who was with other bystanders looking at a fallen oak tree called police Tuesday after she saw bones in the upturned roots.
Hartman says the tree was planted on the green in 1909 on the 100th anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln’s birth. He says the remains likely belong to one of thousands of people buried there in Colonial times. The remains will be evaluated by the state medical examiner. WTNH-TV has more:
Long before the New Haven green was a spot for concerts and gatherings in the elm city, it was a cemetery.
Starting with haphazard burials in shallow graves in the 1650s, until the cemetery was moved to the Grove Street cemetery in 1821.
All of the headstones were moved, but all of the bodies were not.
Historians say there could be more than 1,000 souls still resting under the New Haven green.
Katie Carbo, who called police, tells the New Haven Independent she saw something in the tree roots, and found the bones when she removed some dirt.
“I noticed what I thought was a rock at first, I kind of poked it and a piece came off in my hand, and I noticed it was bone fragments,” Carbo told WTNH. “So I took a stick and knocked some of the dirt away and noticed it was an entire skull and body and vertebrae, ribs.”
Carbo says the skeleton “should be given a proper burial.”

Posted on November 1, 2012 at 3:42amAccording to Richard Kuklinski, ‘The Ice Man’ (now deceased), he claimed to, with others, have made hit on Hoffa (inside of car at restaurant parking lot) of which he was then disposed of in some scrap metal which was sent to Japan, and now probably makes up portions of parts of a car or several. Not sure if Nissan or Toyota, Honda etc, sedan, hatchback or van. Kuklinski, admitted that he, himself, killed over 100 people (some contract killings, others for his own pleasure) although it is possible he may have been responsible for well over 200 deaths.

Posted on October 31, 2012 at 7:41amI GUARANTEE this story will somehow turn stupid and/or ugly. I mean, we’re talking about human beings here. The course of roads has been diverted, construction in general halted and land no one ever cared about become sacrosanct when either an “endangered” critter or human remains suddenly appear on a piece of property.
We can’t put Sherman Hemsley in the dirt because of human greed and interference. Wait for the right nut to appear and this township will be sorry a local stray didn’t come snatch this prize.
Keep on the sunny side of life, folks.

Posted on October 31, 2012 at 7:35amI imagine that the entire surface of the earth will be graves soon enough. Someone has died almost everywhere you look in the city. We live in cemeteries. There are no walking dead, because the dead are no longer attached to this universe. It is only we, the living, that are trapped here in this limited-dimension universe, unable to see or envision the capabilities of our souls. Death frees us to see everything, because our spirit is no longer bound by newtonian and einsteinian rules inside the body.
In the place some call heaven, others call the afterlife, there is no 4 dimensional universe of space and time, there is no such thing as “travel” – when you want to “be somewhere”, you simply think it, and you are there, instantly. There is no time, and so, you are there forever, so to speak. That’s what the “alpha and omega” quote in the Bible references. God, through man, was trying to express what it is like in “the real world” (not this one). There, there is no reason to be unhappy, no reason to want, no reason to eat, no reason to sleep, no reason to need of anything. And there is communion of the souls. You can go there even now, if you are invited, or if you try hard enough, and you do not need to get close to death to do so.
I know, because I have been there. I even gazed down on this universe, as if it were a game of marbles in a school yard. There was nothing special about it, it just “was”.
