Will ‘Obamacare’ Require You to Disclose Your Personal Health ID Info to the IRS?

Will Americans have to reveal their personal health information to the IRS (of all groups)? The Grove Norquist-founded Americans for Tax Reform, a 501(c)(4) lobbying group that opposes “all tax increases as a matter of principle,” seems to think so.

“The new form will require disclosure of a taxpayer’s personal identifying health information in order to determine compliance with the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate,” the group explained in a statement on Thursday.

As Americans for Tax Reform reminds us, when representatives from the IRS testified before that House Committee on Ways and Means, they said “taxpayers will file their tax returns reporting their health insurance coverage, and/or making a payment.”

And it’s because of this that the group warns personal health ID’s will have to be included starting in 2014.

“Simply put, there is no way for the IRS to enforce Obamacare’s individual mandate without such an invasive reporting scheme. Every January, health insurance companies across America will send out tax documents to each insured individual,” the group explains.

“This tax document — a copy of which will be furnished to the IRS — must contain sufficient information for taxpayers to prove that they purchased qualifying health insurance under Obamacare,” they add.

If this is true, according to the anti-tax group, the new tax information document will have to contain the following:

  • The name and health insurance identification number of the taxpayer
  • The name and tax identification number of the health insurance company
  • The number of months the taxpayer was covered by this insurance plan
  • Whether or not the plan was purchased in one of Obamacare’s “exchanges.”

“This will involve millions of new tax documents landing in mailboxes across America every January, along with the usual raft of W-2s, 1099s, and 1098s,” the group warns.

“At tax time, the 140 million families who file a tax return will have to get acquainted with a brand new tax filing form.  Six million of these families will end up paying Obamacare’s individual mandate non-compliance tax penalty,” they add.

    I like that bottom part about if Mitt is elected and takes control of Senate. But he doesn’t need to take control of the senate. He can just instruct his Secretary of Health and Human Services to Issue Waivers to Every person in America just like Obozo did for his union cronies. It solves the problem for 4 years at least.

      Everybody just needs to refuse to fill out that portion of the tax return. or simply do not file a tax return at all. If enough did not do it, they would not have the man power to do squat about it.

      ITA. I say STOP paying taxes period until we get REAL rep in DC. A few weeks ago it was reported the IRS said they will NOT be enforcing obamacare. Begs the question of why hire 16k new agents then???

    Another way for the death panels to decide if the amount you pay in taxes warrants the health expenses the government will incur to keep you alive. Lets face it, when rationing health care the ones not financially contributing to the government (old and very young), or the ones not contributing enough (handicapped, unemployed, and homemakers) will be denied health care.

    The only way they will get away with this is IF YOU COMPLY and ACQUIESCE to their unreasonable demands.

    Our medical/personal health info is PRIVATE and the I.R.S. has no right to ask for any of it.
    They can “prove” we have medical coverage WITHOUT knowing our medical ID/records info. This is not just a privacy issue, but also a SECURITY issue. They are NOT going to get our private medical info.

    Just make dang sure you PROTEST LOUD & OFTEN as soon as President Romney takes office!
    We need to TAKE BACK AMERICA and OUR AMERICAN RIGHTS.

    Oh I don’t know, what access will Romney-care give the IRS? It seems to me that health records are the only thing the IRS doesn’t have access to so what will a little more info hurt?

      If prayer worked, there would be no stife in the world, people would not die of illness, and no hardship would ever befall anyone of faith. Do you have any evidence at all that prayer offers anything other than peace of mind to the faithful.? I have 2000 years of evidence that prayer does not work.
