9-Year-Old Boy at Michelle Obama Rally: ‘If Mitt Romney Win, We’ll Be Going Back to the Crop Fields’

Kids say the darndest things. But sometimes they say shocking things.
On Thursday, 9-year-old Brandon did the latter when he was asked why he wanted President Barack Obama to win a second term outside a campaign rally featuring First Lady Michelle Obama in Daytona, Fla.
“Because if Mitt Romney win, we’ll be going back to the crop fields,” Brandon said, referring to the days of slavery. “We’ll be picking crops.”
The father can be heard off-camera laughing. Obviously, no 9-year-old child would determine through their own reasoning that GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney would send African-Americans “back to the crop fields.”
“We need Obama to win, because Obama was our president for how many years? Three years. And we need him to win because he’s a good president,” the boy added.

When asked what he wanted Obama to do in his second term, Brandon said, “I want [Obama] to change the world like he did. He’s gonna change the world.”
Brandon, who is particularly adorable, also said he is doing a project on Obama, which entails making posters. When asked if the child would be “knocking on doors for Obama,” the boy’s proud father said his 9-year-old son would do “everything he can” to help Obama get re-elected.

That job made me want to do something better and for more pay! Obama and the Dem’s want to keep their “people” on the gov’t plantation, giving them a poor education and just enough food and shelter to keep them there keep them fearful of escaping, and requiring them to perform only one job……mark “D” on that ballot every election!

That would be a mandate to force more extreme legislation and regulations upon this country. As more people become government benefit takers, they surely will not voter themselves out of that situation. We had fun made our first money and had enough at the end of the season to buy our school clothes. Then some dogooders said “oh these children can’t work in the field” Now the kids stay home, play video games and have no idea how to work when they get out of school

Not all christians will believe in what you purport as “christian.” Surely you understand that unless you take that in order to be a “christian”, one must take the bible literally with no exception(s).

His family hated that “*******” Jimmy Carter, but then they liked Jimmy Carter when Ronald Regan ran against him and hated that Ronald Regan “*******”. Of course they just hated white people unless they were in their face. My husband had to grow up and learn to think for himself. It did not make a whole lot of sense to him that one day a man is a “*******” and the next he isn’t. Give the kid a break people, maybe he will grow up and actually think. But that said, my mom picked cotton as a child, and she’s white (well, ok, 1/8 Native American)….at least picking crops is a JOB and not suching off the government teat.

I am white…err White Hispanic….or may be just white-white, Is there going to be a White-Caucasian on the census? I think that might be where I am. I will have to ask Moochelle – her and Barry keep confusing me on this race division they are pushing.
Anyone know if us White-Caucasian folk will be also sharing in all the Goberment goodies? May be a free phone? I think if I go back far enough in linage I am 1/325 th Cherokee. Is that good enough or does it have to be closer to Elizabeth Warrens for minority status?

And that little boy thinks it’s beneath him because he’s black? Her dad’s farm did NOT have slave help, they paid the help, and on Saturdays my mom told me her dad drove all the helpers to town to buy groceries.
This stupidity of thinking you’re too good for certain jobs is what’s keeping some people down and out. In some economies, you do whatever you can to help your family and not worry about how it makes you look. We’ve all don’t things that weren’t by choice, but by necessity to work toward a better life. Angry about this, yeah, I’m angry to think some want an executive job with no education.

I have two wonderful granddaughters who are bi-racial, and don’t even realize it. Why? Because we don’t think of race, we are people minded.
The one glaring thing about Obama & his supporters; it seems to be more about the man than the country. Not good.

I rarely get angry, but I would give a lot to give them a piece of my mind and tell that kid he is being lied to. There is nothing so evil as lying to a child. The best outcome will be when Mitt wins and he doesn’t end up in the firelds and realizes his dad lied to him. By the way, what’s wrong with picking crops in the field? I bet if Obama has his way, convinces Congress to eliminate the two term rule, he will have droves of people conscripted into working in the fields. Isn’t that what Mao did in China? Obama is a communist who has visions of dictatorship and if Americans don’t wake up now, one day we will wake up to a country under full martial law, a country under the thumb of a ruthless ruler.
If this child isn’t in jail for gang related activities, he will more than likley become a leader in the dictatorship.

See, I am a mom and I do imbue my children with how important their civic duties are. Just yesterday, we had a discussion about the importance of voting and the importance of being an informed voter, not an indoctrinated voter. I enjoy politics and read news stories from every side of the political spectrum, but my children do not know who I am voting for and I do not discuss politics with them. Why? Well, they are *children* and I am adult enough to know that opinions that are held when you are you are young are likely to shift as you actually experience life. That is what happens to intelligent people – their opinions tend to become more nuanced and complex.
I believe that *children* have no business whatsoever telling adults who to vote for, how to vote, etc. I think it is revolting and that they are acting as proxies for adults who are too cowardly to engage in a debate. Children get instant moral authority and discussing politics with a *child* establishes an intellectual and experiential equivalency that is false.
No, my boys do not watch Beck and they do not listen to Limbaugh. They are toddlers and I would be bit disturbed if they preferred listen to talk radio above watching Team Umizoomi and playing outside. But, that’s how it is with real parents, not the “ReTHUGlican” straw-men you folks love to erect.
