Lib Radio Host to Gay Romney Supporter: Committing Suicide By Arsenic Better Than Waiting for ‘Slow, Painful Death That Mitt Romney Will Bring’

Liberal radio host Michelangelo Signorile had a bizarre message for a gay Mitt Romney supporter who called into his show: Rather than vote for the Republican candidate he said it would have been easier to “go to the store, buy some arsenic and make a potion and take it.” The advice came after the individual, named “Wess,” told Signorile that he is a homosexual who recently voted for the GOP candidate.

“Are you a Romney supporter?,” Signorile asked the caller.

“I’m not Republican, but yes I did vote for Romney,” Wess responded.

This admission was apparently too much for the host to handle, as he began commenting about how wonderful President Barack Obama has been for gay rights, while also skewering Romney for his purportedly anti-gay views.

“Now, you went and voted for him. And it would have been much easier to go to the store and buy some arsenic and make a potion and take it,” Signorile said. “That would have been much easier than waiting for the slow, painful death that Mitt Romney will bring.”

As for Wess, Signorile personally attacked his knowledge base, claiming that he should not be permitted to cast a vote.

“You are the epitome of a low-information voter. You should not be allowed to vote,” the host continued.

But Wess noted that, despite being gay and disagreeing with Romney’s stance, Obama’s views on same-sex rights are, in his view, politically motivated. The caller noted that the Republican “tells it straight out that he doesn’t agree” with gay marriage.

“You’re stabbing yourself right in the back,” Signorile responded. ”If somebody does things for you for the votes, you vote for them, Wess.”

Considering suicides and other related issues, his words were viewed, by some, as insensitive. B. Daniel Blatt of the Gay Patriot blog sarcastically wrote, “Such tolerance.” Commentator Andrew Sullivan added:

“…imagine if it had been Limbaugh. Wouldn’t every gay group be assailing him for hate speech? Why the advice to commit suicide – a pretty raw topic given recent events for gay teens? Because the caller had the gall to say he was gay and voting for Romney. Signorile told him to go to a store, get some arsenic, make a potion and take it. He also said that low-information voters like his listener should not be allowed to vote at all. The gay left: one of the last bastions of tolerance. I learned that the hard way.”

Following the fury, Signorile apologized on his blog:

After the caller said he voted for Romney, I said he should just get some arsenic, make a potion, and take it, which would be more painless. Not because I thought he should kill himself—I do not think gay Romney supporters should kill themselves—but because voting for someone who is committed to undermining your rights is a self-destructive behavior.
Any gay person who votes for Romney is undermining his own life, his own rights, and the lives and rights of all other LGBT people. And let’s be clear: It is Romney, with his bigoted positions (“Some gays are actually having children. It’s not right on paper. It’s not right in fact.”), who feeds a culture of hate that leads to gay teen suicides.

      Actually, we are guaranteed equal protection, Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment of the United States Constituion states:

      “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

      West is very smart. Romney will improve the entire USA for All colors, sexual orientations and ages. A more prosperous America for ALL! West doesn’t vote with his pants but his mind.       So true BlackyB…”Lord of the Flies”…and we know how that turned out (chaos, killing the weaker, and each other).

      I could slap myself silly for saying this, but, after reading this article, I sorta hope Obama wins just to show these liberal/progressive haters just what America will become if Obama wins this election. Everybody will suffer, blacks/whites/gays/poor/women/men/children. Everyone will suffer. BECAUSE: the rich folks with the money will move over seas (I would), the middle class will wind up poorer, and the poor will eventually end up with less. And that’s the good scenario. It gets much worse for everyone when there’s a revolution. The Conservatives won’t put up with Obama’s tactics any more. So everybody suffers who continues to live in the USA. The rich will get out…and nobody left to pay all the welfare rats. The ordinary worker will see that it’s more fair/easier to join the welfare ranks. Who wants to work their **** off just to give the lazy an easy out? If you can’t lick em’…join em. This is what the Libs don’t get…yet.

      Next will be the declaration of “National Kick A Conservative” day.. by the Media “in jest” due to past events we’ve seen in the media ‘targeted’ towards ‘minorities’.

      Or maybe on Nov 7th – If Romney wins – they’ll just skip everything and kick start another Holocaust. Either way.. My beliefs will never change..

      I think it’s just a vocal, militant few that want their sexuality in everyone’s faces. Those are the ones I speak out against. I think most just want to be left alone. As to rights – NO ONE is denying them equal rights! They have just as much right to marry a member of the opposite sex, as you and I have.

      What they want are extra rights.

New Yorkers have the right to receive assistance well before the marathon, the city pulls the help that could be helping the stranded people on Stanton Isl.       I know gay conservatives that don’t say their conservative because they fear the gay community that apparently “supports” them. The gay conservatives I know support conservatives because they value individual choice and thought and are sick of being bunched in with a group just because of their sexuality. What what if a gay person supports pro-life agendas? What if a gay person supports less taxes? What if a gay person supports individual success and not being forced to share success with others that don’t even try? What if a gay person supports gay marriage but chooses to do it by pursuing federal government getting out of marriage completely? This also goes with other minority groups. The Democrats “liberate” nobody and are all about getting people into homogeneous groups that have no sense of self worth and identity.

      Pork_Anvil – Conservatives may say a lot on this site, we need venting, Rush says his share of things also, but you won’t find many conservative politicians saying what liberals say, nor will you find ads with sexual overtones or blatant sexuals messages, or suggesting Romney killed someone’s wife or committed fraud, or vote with your female parts. Liberals have cornered the market on crude, obnoxious comments, accusations, and ads.

      @Pork_Anvil: There’s a big difference in coming up with nicknames for pseudo-celebrity politicians and telling a caller directly that he’d be better off killing himself than voting for someone. Rush, Sean, and Glenn aren’t doing that. Even less civil hosts like Savage and Boortz aren’t doing that. Only a liberal would do this. They operate on anger, condescension, disgust, intolerance, and negativity.
